The Ruger Scout rifle features a forward-mounted Picatinny rail that allows for the mounting of an intermediate eye relief scope (not included), for both eyes open sighting and super-fast target acquisition. The non-rotating, Mauser-type controlled round feed extractor is the most positive case extraction system ever invented, and features a fixed blade-type ejector that positively ejects the empty cases as the bolt is moved fully rearward.

1 year agoOut of the box the action is smooth and the trigger better than most, but a little stoning still improves it. I have the RH .308 with the laminate gray stock, and I love it. I put the Leupold IER scout scope and some Warne rings, some flush mount QD sling swivels, and a GGG Ching sling. It makes a great campsite rifle for defending against fast-moving threats in close, and with both eyes open sighting you can easily maintain awareness of the rest of your group. If Leupold had an illuminated vers... Read more

1 year agoIf I could only own one rifle (and that's not the case ... so far), it would be the Ruger Scout. .308 is all the cartridge you need for any problem in North America (4 legged or 2), 10 round box mag gives plenty of firepower, composite stock is function over form. And you can find 308 ammo in lots of places. The forward scope design lets you have both eyes open and good peripheral vision. That and the short barrel and overall length, make it very fast fast fast to get on target, even in heavy br... Read more

1 year agoI have a thread reviewing this rifle:http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=776763Here is some copied and pasted:-This rifle has minimal recoil (might be due to the muzzle brake)-It is extremely accurate-The action is so smooth, almost seamless (feeding and spitting with no problems!)-The trigger, I dont think I will replace this at all, I love it-Its light, dont get tired holding this thing at all, fast target acquisition-Its loud, but not that loud, just a tad lighter than I expected.I … Read More

1 year agoThis is the 2nd ruger scout rifle I have bought. The other was the stainless 18" barrel with laminate stock(sold). That one I had a hard time finding ammo that would shoot accurately out of it. And it weighs more than I would've liked. The 16" with the synthetic stock has been great! The recoil is the same as the heavier gun. And I found that it loves the heavier bullets. I'm shooting the Hornady precision hunter 178 ELD-X and getting 1"-1 1/2" groups at 100yds. That is with a scope. I haven't tried to zero the iron sights. I'm using the vortex scout scope which I would also highly recommend.

1 year agoLove this rifle, light, (6.25 pounds) fast target acquisition with a Burris 2-7x32mm forward mounted scout scope, chambered for .308 win. and has minimal recoil. The transaction with grabagun was seamless; best price on the market, fast shipping and professionally handled from start to delivery. Will do business with grabagun again.

1 year agoExcellent rifle! Suprised people at the range with how accurate this rifle is with only a 16" barrel...and out to 300 yards. Compact, perfect weight and reliable....this is my mainstay weapon

1 year agoTo preface my comments I must admit that I am very eccentric and always seek out simplicity and reliability in any product. This is the 5th Gunsite Scout that I have purchased, (3 in 308 and 2 in 5.56). Honestly, before owning these Scouts I was never been a big Ruger fan because all of my previous Ruger products were rimfire rifles and they all h...Read More Read more about review stating For Me, The Perfect All Around Rifle
