A true Small-Frame Autoloading Rifle, the SFAR is nearly identical in size to a traditional 5.56-caliber modern sporting rifle. Chambered in 7.62 NATO / .308 Win., the SFAR combines the ballistic advantages of .308 Winchester with the size of a traditional MSR. Bolt and barrel extensions are CNC-machined from high-strength super alloy steel that outperforms traditional C158 bolts. Tapered lug geometry further strengthens the breech to support larger short-action cartridges. The bolt carrier assembly features a chrome-lined 8620 steel bolt carrier and nitride-processed gas key staked in place. The titanium firing pin has been DLC-coated for long service life. The bolt includes dual ejectors and an optimized extractor to ensure positive extraction and ejection of the spent case through the enlarged ejection port. 4140 chrome-moly steel barrel is cold hammer-forged with ultra-precise 5R rifling. The heavy profile barrel balances nicely, and its attractive, black nitride finish helps ensure exceptional accuracy, longevity, and easy cleaning. Ruger 2-port Boomer muzzle brake has large perpendicular surfaces to redirect gas and reduce felt recoil. 5/8″-24 muzzle threads on the barrel remain compatible with other brakes, flash hiders, and suppressors. 15″ aluminum handguard is free-floated for accuracy. It features Magpul M-LOK accessory attachment slots along the 3:00, 6:00, and 9:00 positions and a full-length Picatinny top rail. Sockets for Quick Disconnect (QD) sling swivels at the handguard’s muzzle end, allow for a comfortable carry with a two-point sling. The rifle-length gas system features a 0.750″ 4-position rotary-regulator gas block to achieve ideal function across the wide range of ammunition available in the marketplace today. The included, onboard 3/16″ ball-end wrench makes for easy regulator adjustment. Equipped with a Ruger Elite 452 trigger that delivers a smooth, crisp 4.5-pound 2-stage trigger pull. A full-strength hammer spring and lightweight hammer ensure fast lock times and consistent primer ignition. Made from a 7075-T6 hard-coat anodized aluminum forging, the upper receiver is complete with brass deflector, forward assist, and full-length Picatinny rail. The lower receiver features a generous flare on the magazine well for easy magazine insertion.

2 years agoThis delivers less recoil than expected and expect great return to target acquisition. I expect great things from Ruger with this.

2 years agoI have not shot this yet, planning on this weekend. The build and quality is as expected by Ruger. I own the SR-762 and this is definitely the next generation of the AR-10 platform.

1 year agoFirst of all, I ordered a Ruger SFAR 308 20in via Guns.com. I was on notify lists with 4 major online firearm retailers but it didn’t appear they were going to have this rifle in stock anytime soon, so I went with Guns.com. As for the rifle, it is almost the same size as my Ruger AR15 except the mag well is wider to accommodate 308 rounds and it i...Read More Read more about review stating First of all, I ordered

1 year agoPut a few rounds through it today, military grade FMJ 185 grain. Zero issues, 100 yards with a good scope. Dead on.

1 year agoRuger hit a homerun with this rifle, the size of an ar15 but in a 308 one draw back very load everything else is close to perfect

1 year agoI’m have not fired the weapon yet, but It must say that I am very pleased with the fit and finish!!! The weapon is very light and is no heavier nor bigger than my AR 15. This is a huge plus for me and I am looking forward t having a lot of fun with this one!!!

1 year agoThe SFAR is everything it is advertised to be. I especially like the trigger pull. I wish it had come with at least a set of iron sights Other than that, it is an excellent example of Ruger's quality and craftmanship.

1 year agoSmall rifle that shoots a big bullet & doesn't punish you for shooting it! I shot about 50 rounds through it on my first range trip (most of it, getting new optic on target). Would have liked to shot a lot more but ran out of time. So far so good. Nice trigger & mild recoil. My 7.62x39 ak kicks way harder than this sfar does. The only comp...Read More Read more about review stating I'm happy with it!

1 year agoFor a short barrel rifle, what a tac driver, 1st hundred rounds, not one malfunction. Also rather easy on the shoulder

1 year agoFirst thing is you get what you pay for. Well built and extremely light weight. I currently purchased the 16" and I have no complaints. Alittle hard to find, but I see why. Guns.com and it was fast shipping. Two thumbs up and thanks again.

1 year agoI've only run 20 rounds of 147 FMJ through it. I had some FTF with a 10 round magazine and the gas port set to 2; more testing with different ammo, gas port settings, and the factory 20 round mag are on tap for this weekend. Recoil is surprisingly light, the trigger is pretty good, and overall feel is excellent. As you know, this thing is LOUD!

1 year agoJust picked it up, and it’s quite lite compared to a normal AR10. Cannot wait to test it out. Shipping was fast as always.

1 year agoI have about 200 rounds thru this rifle had maybe 2 failure to feed it is very accurate and really does feel like a ar15 weight wise the break works very well but it is loud it was a purchase that I'm glad I made

1 year agoLove the SFAR so far. Softest shooting 308 rifle ever. I had been looking for years for a 308 the same size as the 5.56 AR pattern rifle and I think this is the one. Easy to hold on target between shots in spite of light weight.

1 year agoExcellent rifle, shoots great, handling is superb, quality and craftsmanship are awesome! Hats off to Ruger for another fine firearm!! Haven't put hundreds of rounds through it yet so time will tell about wear and tear!!

1 year agoReally impressed with the component quality of this rifle. Placed a red dot, that I had previously used on my AR15, onto the rail and hit 39 of 40 at 100 yds right out of the box. Recoil was less than expected. Fit and finish get 5 stars. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for an affordable AR10.

1 year agoPurchasing the Ruger SFAR from Ruger through guns.com was as easy as it gets. Delivery was almost faster than I imagined was possible. The rifle is very well designed and built. It has an excellent trigger. Everything is very snug fitting which is good in a new autoloading service rifle. I haven't put any rounds down range but looking forward to p...Read More Read more about review stating Purchasing the Ruger SFAR from

1 year agoVery impressive. Eats cheap steel, mid grade range and expensive ammo with equal enthusiasm. 1" group at 100 yds with range ammo, with ease.

1 year agoI have read different forums of people having issues with this rifle ejecting the casing, but I have not had any issues. I have shot Mesko M80, Winchester M80, PMC X-TAC, in 7.62 and Federal 308 and Hornandy Black 308 with zero issues. The gun is light and shoots well. The recoil is strong but manageable. I will start messing with the gas block soon to see if I can reduce it some. Overall, the rifle is a good purchase and I am happy.
