Known for its rugged reliability and stopping power, Charter’s Bulldog is a versatile revolver for personal or home protection. With a barrel length of 2.5″, this .44 Special is one of the larger revolvers to qualify for concealed carry. This safe, reliable revolver is powerful enough for serious home protection, but has the size and functionality for effective concealed carry. This Standard model has a stainless frame, cylinder, and barrel finish.

Pivot screw for hammer was completely stripped. Was held in place using Loctite. Pivot pin for trigger is loose. Gun is not trustworthy, at all. Very disappointed, was really looking forward to this revolver.

I can’t recommend this firearm. Make no mistake, this is NOT made with the quality of a Smith and Wesson. There is cheesy black lettering on the barrel that really looks cheap! The cylinder release is sticky and feels flimsy.

I have wanted a Bulldog for many years and I was excited when Sportsmans Warehouse finally got them back in stock. I bought one, took it to the range, and immediately had problems with it. The single-action pull was about 1.5 pounds, which is unacceptable. The cylinder would also bind when shooting the revolver and I also had several light primer strikes. I took it back to Sportsmans Warehouse and they sent it back to Charter Arms at no cost to me. Ten days later Sportsmans called me and said my

Finish was fair to good, but expected for the price point. Evidence of sand casting marks where it didn't need to be machined. Functionally, it seems to be fine. I haven't had a chance to fire it, yet. The grips cause one casing to become trapped due to the size of the casings (44 Special), the rubber grips and the smaller frame. A simple flip of the cylinder clears that and really isn't a big problem, unless you're into speed shooting, which this handgun wasn't really designed for. A smaller

I like it just fine as a “backup” piece but it only holds 5 rounds so I need another 2nd backup. I’d like a similar model but in .45 long Colt.

All in all very pleased with my purchase of my new 44 bulldog a little bit disappointed with the tool marks that remain on the crane and also blemish marks on the lug underneath the muscle the gun shoots very well and a lot of power plus comes in handy with the 44 snake shot I think it's a good buy and I would recommend it to others although a little difficult in finding 44 Special ammo

Perfect gun! From purchase to the range the Bulldog is all around great gun and Sportsman’s Warehouse did a fine job providing it.

I like the weight and size of the 44 Special Bulldog. I did order a set of rubber compact grips and now the revolver disappears even better in my pants pocket. I do reload and keep the 240 grain SWC bullets in the 650 - 750 fps range with Unique and Bullseye powders and still experimenting. I use the Hornady Manual because the 44 Special revolver reloading information is for a 3 inch Bulldog while other manuals can be for larger, stronger pistols. My reloads are accurate but I have not tried factory loads. If you are a serious pistolero you should have this revolver in your collection.

This handgun feels good and is well balanced. It's surprisingly accurate at distances beyond 50 yards. Unusual for a revolver with only a 2.5 inch barrel.

This is a very well made revolver. the fit and finish are very good. It's about 1/2 of what you'll pay for a S&W or Colt revolver. It fits my hand very well and I really like the factory rubber grips. I've been shooting 240 grain lead semi wadcutter bullets that chronograph at around 835-850 fps. This little revolver is surprisingly accurate at 25-30 yards. It's easily concealed and works fine for a self defense gun or home protection.

The .44 Special is a powerhouse. The light weight of the Charter Arms Bulldog results in significant, but manageable, felt recoil. This is a powerful and reliable personal protection tool!

The Bulldog 44 is a very nice weapon. It feels, and shoots fantastic. This gun is definitely a hand cannon, but with not much recoil.I printed all 5 shots in a tight pattern from 15 yards, with 200 grain hollow points. The perfect holster for it is a Houston soft leather ,with an inside the pants clip.It fits like a glove.

I have the charter arms .44 special and I find this gun pleasing to shoot and easy to pocket carry . Charter arms firearms are built to do the job without needing to look pretty . I also have the off duty .38 special .

I have one of the early Bulldogs that I purchased new in 1974 for $150.00. It has been my EDC since then. I love my little pocket cannon. It has been totally problem-free. The only drawback is the price of ammo. Some may consider the 5- shot capacity a drawback, but since I try not to get into gangland shootouts, I’m confident five well-placed sho...Read More Read more about review stating Trusty Companion

I love this gun. This is the caliber (45 long colt) I was looking for in a carry gun. It’s not a show gun (guns that are so expensive that they are kept in safe) but a gun to be used and carried. I would definitely buy another charter arms. Next one in 45acp or 40s&w.

Light weight powerhouse is easily concealed, I cary mine in my left hand boot. The 44 Special bullet (240 grain wadcutter or 185 grain hollow point) is effective with manageable recoil for fast follow up shots. While I have never shot anyone with it, it looks enormous when looking down the barrel. Proven to encourage the observer into being more r...Read More Read more about review stating Excellent Hideout

I sold my former EDC (every day carry), a .357 mag as it weighed in at over two pounds, and opted for the Charter Arms Bulldog in .44 special, lightweight at only 23 ounces fully loaded. The iron sights on my former EDC were okay during daylight but not in low light where lasers shine, and that's what's now on my Bulldog. As with any new ...Read More Read more about review stating I sold my former EDC

Very Reliable & easy to handle!!! The light weight of the Gun with or without the Bullets is easy to carry!!! I would recommend this as a everyday carry for me or anyone else who wants a lightweight Revolver with a hard punch!!!

Nothing fancy, just a solid, working, concealable handgun. The .44 special is agreat self defense round and the Bulldog handles perfectly. Not designed for +P but if I wanted more power I'd have gone for a .44 Magnum. The Bulldog gives me the big bore without the extreme muzzle blast and recoil.
