beautifull, light weight, carry in ankle holster. slicked up by the performance center. 50 rounds of federal white box at the range, great grip retention and comfort.

This was a great buy. Performance Center action was excellent and worth the up charge from the standard 642. Service from the Grab a gun staff and in the retail location was also excellent and efficient.

The rubber edges of the grip peel away from the frame under light pressure, but return to snug fit when pressure is removed.

Nice price when I purchased mine. First five rounds and the trigger would not reset. This was not discovered upon dry firing in the store on pickup. I was going to return to S&W, but removed the side plate and detail stripped the action. There was so much grit in the action that prevented the trigger from resetting. Cleaned this all up and found a small burr on the rebound slide and hit this with a extra fine stone and heavily lubed all internals with TW25B grease. Loaded up my … Read More

This is a beautiful compact “snubbie”revolver, well worth the extra money for the upgrades. I am a former usmc, very used to carry my 1911 3” Kimber, for serious shooting. But for ccw, going to the grocery store, this one is the ticket. It is so light, i do not feel i am carrying. Also, you cannot beat grabagun price and great service. I may buy another one for my wife.

Just picked it up today and was able to stop at the range to try it out. fired 75 rounds of .38 Special (not plus P) while getting used to the trigger and sight picture. Very happy with the Performance center tuned trigger. It's very smooth and you're easily able to stage the trigger near the end of its travel so that you can fine tune your aim before actually firing. The sights are rudimentary. When keeping the top of the front sight centered and level with the top of the rear sight … Read More

I "traded up" from a production 642 to this Performance Center version and I'm very glad I did. It's a fantastic EDC. the fit & finish are perfect. and the trigger is noticeably softer and smoother than the factory revolver i had before. It also looks great, with the high-polish accents and trigger, and no lock hole. If you're on the fence, buy it!

I’m not going to lie, we placed the order then read reviews and got really scared we would be out the price of the gun. Shipping to a little longer than we expected (but we still received the gun within 17 days) but we got the right gun! It was brand new and exactly what we wanted!!!!

Great service as usual from grabagun! Trigger is much better than the standard 642. Cylinder cut for moon clips and the grips are a definite upgrade. Very happy with this purchase. Thank you!

The Performance Center “Tuned Trigger” version is a very good method of alleviating S&W’s notorious revolver triggers. Would highly recommend it to those wanting a VERY reliable, lightweight, concealable firearm, and the Speed Clip reload is very fast. With Hornady .38SP FTX, 110G +P ammo…it just works.

This revolver is definitely light! The grip offers good purchase and good looks. The Performance Center tuned trigger is smooth. Recoil is snappy, as expected from a light revolver, but is quite manageable. Keeping rounds on target requires attention to shooting technique, but the gun is capable. Thus far my practice has been limited to between 7 and 11 yards. The polished details are a nice touch and enhance pride of ownership.

Excellent. I am now a fan of 642s as they make great light EDC guns. Factory grips are terrible so factor in added cost. I got the performance center option for the improved trigger. I forget it's on my belt. Hold on if using +P as some are very potent.

The weapon was all I expected. I bought it for my wife. Unfortunately there is no 38spexial ammo to be found

Absolutely love it! It’s much lighter for EDC and what I call “summer casual “. Not as snappy as you might expect, relatively accurate, and Performance Center trigger is superb. On top of everything else, it just looks good!

Carrying: I bought one of these for a song a couple of years ago at 'Brand X.' As others note, it's so light you almost forget you are carrying it. I have a couple of Mika pocket holsters and, depending upon my clothing, this gun becomes almost forgettable, it's so light. Other times I wear cross draw with a nylon Gunmate. Shooting: I have 'piano hands' with long, thin fingers. If I hold the way Julie Golab does in the SW video for this gun, it knocks the crap out of my trigger

It looks really good. Haven't used it yet. Will be going to Nevada next week to practice with it and target shoot. It has a matte finish but it would look better if it was stainless steel. With my big hands I like it how it fits in my hand. I've been checking it out for a long time. Of course, it IS a 38+P. Most of the 38's are small. It is light weight and don't have to worry about lugging it around like bigger revolvers.

The S&W 642 Performance Center 38 Special +P is worth every penny I saved to buy it. Surprisingly very accurate for a snubby. The tuned Performance Center trigger was outstanding. Fit and finish is what you would expect from a Performance Center Smith & Wesson. No lock was defiinitely a plus. The best revolver purchase I have so far. The photo says it all. If you are in the market for a concealed carry snubby, save some and get yourself one, you won't regret it. And buy at Sportsman's Warehouse for the best price.

A great shooting and looking compact revolver. Very manageable recoil for such a light gun and the Performance Center trigger job make this a pleasure to shoot
