Having the Judge loaded with five (5) .410 cartridges under my pillow gives me an option if an intruder enters my bedroom or my camper. I'm not the best shot but by the time I pull that trigger 3 or 4 times the threat should diminish.

Recoil not nearly as bad as expected, grip really works great, very comfortable fit, little heavy double action trigger,
Fiber optic sight is great

I purchased the 2 1/2" Judge and truly love this gun. The 2 1/2" .410 shells are certainly powerful enough. I feel much safer walking in the woods with mountain lions and black bears. Each bullet or shell is less than $1.00, so it is economical to practice and get comfortable. Wear hearing protection as the gun is quite loud and you left ear will ring for hours as I learned. What? I would recommend this gun to friends as a powerful, economical, fun to shoot, and with the itegrated locking hammer, a safe gun.

I just got the 2" Judge Public Defender Poly! Wow, it fits in my pocket not problem.
I test fired it using the target rounds, at 3 yards, it was blowing chunks of paper out with a 2-3" hole! The recoil was like shooting a 9mm! It was fun to shoot. But shooting .410 and 45LC is expensive. This gun is made for defense ... Therefore, you may want to have fun with every now and then.
Compared (size) G27 and PX4 subcompact... Because of the placement of the handle, its almost a inch longer than my Glock 27. But it looks like a Smith and Wesson 500 ( from the attacker's point view). And since it's a 5 shot, the cylinder is very narrow. You have to hold it up to and gun you want to carry too see the difference.
Very easy to conceal and easy to shoot. The trigger pull is like shooting the Ruger LCR. Very smoother than the LCR. Doesnt hurt you to make a shot... But safe enough to drop in your pocket without worrying about a misfire.
WARNING..... It's easy to fall in love with this weapon!

This gun in not near the quility of a S&W Governor. For the little bit of difference in the price of these two guns the Governor is by far and away a better deal.

I have two of these beauties, and I can honestly say that these are perfect for home defense and leisure shooting. I prefer using .410 shells for the feeling of absolute power accompanied by minimal recoil. A must-have for any aspiring gun collector.

I have had the judge (6" barrel) since it came out. I have used my Judge for everything from Hunting to for the job. I use my judge for big game as well as small game. Got a deer the first year I had the Judge at 48yrds with 410 2 1/2"slug. Used it for small game as well.
I used the Judge to recertify for my PA 235 for my job as well. It surprised a few people that I would use it for that?? But it worked out very well.
I liked it so Much that I recently bought the Raging Judge Magnum which will shoot 45LC/410 2 1/2" and 3" shells as well as 454 CASULL's. EXCELLENT FIREARM

Fun Gun with a lot of punch! If you use the Winchester PDX1's watch out and hang on lol. The uses of this gun are simple close range destruction. Great gun for snakes, car protection, or home protection if you are worried about over penetration vs 9mm and above. Good gun good fun good price longer barrels might get you a little tighter pattern and longer ranges

I bought one of these with the 4 inch barrel and my dad bought the 8 inch, the 410 patterns terribly in both. The rifling in the barrel causes the shot to scatter so bad your better off throwing rocks. I think the recommended distance is seven yards, Making it a great self defense gun. However I couldn't hit a sitting clay pigeon at a short distance. The ooo buckshot is fun, the 45colt shoots good, the PDX rounds were a disappointment.

I had a Judge, 3" chamber. At first, I loved it. Comfortable, versatile, good accuracy. After about 50 rounds of 45 colt and .410 shells I started having issues, especially with 45 colt ammo. The cylinder would not completely rotate to the next chamber causing me to be unable to cock the hammer. I tried different ammo but still had problem. This problem kept getting worse till maybe 2 out of 5 45 ammo could be fired. I reviewed forums and found lots of owners with similar problems and little support from Taurus. Compaints could also be found on Taurus site. I traded the gun after explaining to the gun dealer my problem. He still took it on trade. I really liked it when it worked but I felt in my mind that this is a gun that I cannot count on.

Minimal recoil and tight groups with the gun. My uncle pulled it out during a slow pheasant hunting day and we nailed corn cobs for an hour, this is a very powerful and innovative gun and deserves a spot in everyones safe.

If you are interested in one of these, talk to those of us who own them. They are great, reliable, POWERFUL weapons. Everyone at the range is going to want to shoot it, so take ample ammo with you! When used as intended, close quarters self defense they are unparallelled! If you go to the range, do not expect 3" groups at 25 yards, these are not designed for those ranges, shoot water jugs at 20ft and enjoy!
Do yourself a favor and buy the 3" chamber 3" barrel version.

Recently, I obtained a brand new in the box Public Defender SS with a two inch barrel. I don't believe Taurus makes the two inch but two and half or three inch. I wanted this thing for one purpose and that was a high power, short range protection gun. I have read where some folks hunt with theirs and I guess that is a challenge. I took this to the range and fired at a target at ten feet and at twenty feet. Firing 45 LC was right on and using #4 shot at that distance was pretty efficient. Much beyond that distance, I wouldn't know but for my intended purpose, This gun functions quite well. I guess the folks with the longer barrel versions can reach further out more accurately than this model will but I have other weapons for that. This is a great Belly Gun though.

I bought one many years ago. It works flawlessly. I load the .410 with 00 buckshot and or #9 shot. At 10 feet it is about 15 diameter pattern. The 00 Buckshot all hit in a 4" group. The defensive rounds worked about the same. But the watermelon didn't survive.

I own three Taurus Judges!!! Public defender, blue steel and the 10th anniversary edition. This revolver is just plain fun to shoot. It can be great for home defense or to take outdoors!!! I also own a S & W Governor and they both handle and shoot about the same. The main difference is price of the Judge is about $200 cheaper but the Governor can fire 45 ACP's. Overall for the money you can't beat the Judge!!!

I bought in September and submitted 2 different background checks since they expire after 30 days. Bass won’t release and I talked to sheriffs office. Sheriffs office requested I have Bass pro call them. I talked to Bass pro shops to relay info but am assuming they didn’t bother following through since it makes no difference to them whether I ever receive my firearm or not.
I have bought and recieved other firearms from other places during the time I’ve been waiting for Bass pro shops.

First time shooting the Judge, with 45 only. Gun had less recoil and shot much nicer than expected. It shot consistently to the left out of the box, so will have to adjust sight. Grip was strange, but expect that to being unfamiliar with it. Rating would have likely been higher if I would have had 410 (2.5 inch) to shoot, but my initial.thought is this gun wasn't as bad as some you tube reviews reported.
