Great rifle, recoil is negligible. I like how the magazines work for multiple calibers, stock isn’t flimsy or cheap

Long time since I owned a bolt action rifle and my Ruger American Standard 30-06 makes me wonder why it's been so long. Had a Crossfire II scope mounted to it with a bipod and I'm very happy with how close it came to being sighted in out of the box. Shot about 30 rounds on the range and am sighted in at 25m with minor adjustments. No problems with the bolt as others have suggested.

picked up a Ruger American Predator in .243 to keep in the truck when I have the kids with me and to use for coyote in the winter. Topped it with a 4-12x44 vortex scope. Put a box through it at the range and had 1" groups at 200 yards with Hornady whitetail 100 gr rounds. I just wanted a gun to take a beating, one that I would not fuss over if it got nicked or scratched, and a decent caliber for the kids to shoot when the time comes. Great gun for the money, great caliber.

This gun man, first off it was the magazine. It came with a rotary magazine and simply didn't work, ever. It would send 2 bullets up every time usually breaking the tips off them. Emailed Ruger who sent off my info to a third party who then sent me a stack magazine. It works a lot better but I still have log jams from time to time. Second, it must be old at heart because sometimes the firing pin don't come out all the way. I've had animals lined up and all you hear is "CLICK" them " **** THIS GUN". And third and I hope from now on its only third.. sometimes it wont chamber the round. I mean the bolt simply wont lock into place. I wont tell you what to do with your money but I will say that this gun has broken my heart more times than its stopped one.

If I could give it a negative rating I would. I have no trouble shooting 3/4” groups at 100 yards with my tikka 7 mm rem mag. This ruger 22-250 is more like throwing rocks. I’ve tried 4 different brands of ammo and the best groups I can shoot are 4”. Using a vortex viper 4x12 scope. So disappointed in this purchase. Bought it for 300-400 yard coyote hunting. Should have bought a slingshot, at least I would be able to meet expectations.

I purchased this rifle chambered .308, and I added a Vortex 4x12, both on sale at Cabelas in March, just before COVID madness. Setup the scope, tested at 50 yards, decent grouping out of the box. I used today first time for deer hunting, 150 yards running doe, one shot with Federal Fusion 165 grain, deer down. For the money, I love it!

When my sons started hunting I bought an American in 270 and 243. I’ve been pleased with both. I get 1” groups at 100 yards. My younger son dropped a doe at 286 yards last fall. One shot, no tracking. Older son just took an 8 point with the 270. For the money I don’t think you’ll find a better deal and you could easily spend more and get less.

As I made this purchase I thought I was going to get a regular cheap rifle , boy I was wrong . The quality is amazing and the scope rails are ready to go. Great buy.

What can I say about this rifle that hasn't been mentioned? Not a whole lot. The accutrigger being able to adjust it is a plus, the bolt with the 3 lug design gives it easy lock up when you close the bolt. Having said that, you will have to understand that brand new out of the box, the bolt handle/ cycling will be stiff until its worked in. The finish and feel is nice. I'm not sure if all models come with scope mount bases but mine did. Rotary mag is nice compared to other styles from other rifles. My brand of ammo is federal sierra game king in 150 grain for my 270 and they shoot very well out of my rifle. Partnered with a scorpion optic rifle scope with range dial shoot technology I had no issues reaching an 8 inch gong out to 400 yards with a decent group. Could have moved it out to 600 yards but I was walking the target out there. Rifle was not picky with the ammo. Cannot wait to harvest some animals with this set up.

I have 3 different ruger m 77 rifles (300 win mag, .243, and varmint .223). I have always had great luck with them and they shoot Winchester ballistic silvertips amazing. I have 4 kids and started buying these ruger americans in .243 and .270 caliber. Teamed up with vortex scopes and Winchester ballistic silvetips they also shoot amazing groups. First thing I do is adjust trigger, Dremel the stock some, and add rocktite to the stock in the butt and in the forearm. I like a little more weight and it makes this fairly flimsy stock solid as a rock. I currently have two .243 and one .270 cal and they are all sub moa out to 500 yds. The only problem is Im in search of another .270 for my son and cant get one right now.

I’ve had the Predator in 6.5 Creedmoor for a year now. It consistently shoots sub MOA with both factory ammo and custom loads. I find it works best with 129 grain Hornady Whitetail rounds if you go with factory ammo. I’ve got a Vortex 4x12 crossfire 2 on top and this gun is a tack driver. Highly recommend and for the price it’s a very decent weapon!

First time taking it to out to zero it. Tried 4 different factory loads. Three hit bulls at 100 Yds and the 4th was off less than a 1/2". Comfortable shooting, very manageable recoil. chambered in 308

I Bought the RAP a month ago. Chambered in 22-250. I have taken it out on a half dozen or so coyote hunts and have shot a good number of coyotes already. I Haven’t had any issues with it so far but being a Tikka fan (that’s what my other rifles are) I have to be honest I’m not a huge fan of the trigger on the Ruger. Maybe it will grow on me, time will tell. Other then that it seems to be a good rifle. I haven’t had any issues chambering or ejecting rounds like i have read in other posts.

I bought this in 6.5 a while ago and finally got to use it a few days ago to shoot a moose. 1 shot and it was all over. I have had it at the range and at 250 meters, it was center hits all day. My moose was only a 100 meters, but with 140 grain hornaday, it was all over.

This is a older model but really sets the standard for durable, consistent and reliable. Cabelas was the only way to get one of these because whenever anyone has this in stock it’s sold really quick. I was able to buy it online and have it shipped to the store, which took 6 days. Other than no one having them in stock great gun for the money. Tried and true, taken this hunting in rain and snow gotten muddy and still shoots accurate!

I have several Ruger American rifles. They are very accurate. The issue I have is the .308 rotary mags don't work. The .223 work great. Go with the Ranch & predator models that take A/R & AC mags and you will love it.

Bought one in 30-06 almost 2 years ago very accurate and reliable. Killed a big moose and a nice white tail so far. My only complaint is the cheap magazine failed after a few uses, Ruger replaced it with out issue but can almost guarantee it will fail again so I bought an extra one. It baffles me why Ruger would use such a poor quality magazine with a great quality firearm.

I bought a Ruger Americian in 3006 cal. A week ago I put a Bushnell Banner 4-12-40 and went out to site in today. The indoor range only went out 100 yards and I was hammering nails. What a great gun and the sales people the best. First time I was in that store.
