The gun is fantastic (5 stars), Vortex scope (1 star) leaves a lot to be desired, but hey ViP WaRrAnTy. Already replaced it with a Leupold.

Only gripe I got is that it doesn't shoot over 168 grain bullets accurately. Otherwise it's capable of 1/2 inch groups with good ammo.

Got this for my first hunting rifle. Only issue I had was the scope clasps that hold to scope on the mounting brackets were loose and were not thread locked. Minor issue but none the less I’m glad I caught it before I actually hunted with it. Gun operates smooth. The vortex diamond was easy to zero, and shot half dollar groups with 150 grain ammo.

Savage 110 Hunter XP 300 Win Mag
Front heavy but I knew it would be, not sure if I can hold this accurately without a bipod/tripod. The flutted barrel, bolt and trigger are very nice. Synthetic stock and trigger guard feels cheap. Magazine unlatch is stiff but maybe it will loosen up over time. Stock pad is nice and soft but you may want to consider a muzzle brake. 300 Win Mag packs a punch and the Hunter XP comes with a threaded barrel. The thread size for this model is 5/8X24. The stainless colour Cerakote finish is nice. The stock is more urban camouflage then appeared on website. The Diamondback Vortex 4x12x40mm duplex is pretty basic but the glass is clear and crisp. It’s definitely adequate up to 300 hundred yards. All in all you get a decent firearm and scope for a great price.

Purchased this rifle in 30-06. Quite impressed that for the price of the rifle that it came with a Vortex Scope ( lifetime warranty ). I was going to purchase the same scope anyways.
Took 3 rounds to zero rifle in at 100 yds after bore sighting it.
Put a box of Winchester XRP 180 grain through it and the last couple shot seemed to not even hit target.
Noticed the picatinny rail on the rifle was loose. So I had to take it off and use a little blue thread locker on the screws.
Sighted it in again and all was good.
Nice that the barrell is threaded. Purchased a Browning Recoil Hawg muzzle break. Cuts down on the recoil by about 50%.

Purchased in the 7mm rem mag. Got it to the range and shot 3/4in groups with 162 grain hornady. Reached out to 500meters with accuracy and ease. Scope isn’t fancy, but def gets the job done. Would recommend taking off pic rail screws and adding thread lock, along with a thorough clean of trigger and action before use.

Bought a 30-06 and it’s a well built gun. I already had a scope I wanted to use on it so I put vortex on my 22lr , it’s a decent scope with good glass. People complain about scope and base being loose, I always take everything off of a new gun and use blue lock tight that way I know it’s not moving. Magazine is tight hopefully it loosens up with some usage.

Overall this is a nice rifle and has a decent value, but the bolt action is terrible. It's sticky and rough, and even after cleaning it I just don't like how the bolt functions. The scope is ok for hunting. It's first focal plane, which you expect at this price point, and it's pretty clear. Also, this rifle comes with a cable lock from the factory, yet Bass Pro MAKES you BUY ANOTHER ONE to leave the store, then doesn't even put it on! THAT is a rip off. It's a small rip off, but a TERRIBLE practice designed to just get more money from their customers for something they don't need, and they FORCE you to do it. This LITTLE THING has been done to me twice now, and it's enough to keep me from buying any more of my firearms from BPS just because I don't agree with it.

Good rifle and decent scope paired with crap rings. Even Vortex doesn't recommend their Hunter rings for high recoil rifles. I got the scope sighted and fired 20 rounds on day one. Next weekend i couldn't get any consistency at all. Grabbed the scope and it was totally loose. Even torquing the ring screws doesn't help with 300 win mag. Cabellas should be ashamed to offer this setup. Now I bought new rings and have to get scope remounted

Bought 30-06 a week ago, the rail was loose. AccuTrigger was over 5lbs, I have 2older Savages that were 3lbs out of the box.Threaded muzzle was very dirty with metal chips. Scope eye relief is very poor, even after shortening the stock. Scope hits the rail, Vortex says maybe shorten front of the rail. Magazine so far is very tight. Looks nice though.

300 Win Mag break in process - Ammo: 180 Grain Norma
Got 4 hole KDF Slim Line muzzle break and recoil was reduced by 40%
Also have tried 200 grain Hornady and 150 grain Winchester
Rifle handles everything pretty good.
Can’t beat the price… 799$ Camo with Vortex Diamond Back scope

Rifle shoots well, looks good. Bolt is pretty tight as to be expected from a new rifle. Boresighting was just off a paper plate at 50 yards. But the checkout experience was mind-numbingly slow and repetitive.
I understand having to wait in the queue before being helped initially, but I shouldn’t have to wait in the queue again to receive the firearm once the background check clears. And I shouldn’t have to wait for the attendant to double check the paperwork after the background check clears. I should just show my ID and be handed my rifle. The attendants were nice and polite, but VERY slow. My time is worth spending more to buy firearms somewhere else. I showed up when the store opened at 9am and was #4. And got out of there after 11am. The NICS check had cleared the evening before

This gun was purchased in the 6.5 Creedmoor as a donor gun. I removed the factory steel barrel and replaced it with a custom XCaliber carbon fiber 21” 25 Creedmoor barrel. The stock fit the new barrel well and is very light weight. I’m still working up loads on the new cartridge, but I have a 117 grain SP at 2900 ft/sec in a 1/2” MOA three shot group twice now at 100 yards. The Vortex Diamondback scope was also removed and i mounted it on my H&R 243. That has been sighted in at 100 yards and seems to working well so far the few times I’ve shot with it. Savage makes great actions, triggers. barrels and stocks that are affordable and easy to work on.

I had to go back to BPS the next day. The end cap on the tip of the threaded barrel wouldn't screw on or off properly. They exchanged the cap without any trouble.
The quality of the stock is disappointing. After about 40 rounds, the rail for the stock came loose and had to leave the range to use blue loc tight. Had great shot groups at 100y until scope became loose. Overall, everything functioned flawlessly.

I purchased this during the most recent sale and I am happy I did. It is well worth the price I paid, but I am not sure I would have been as happy if I paid full price.
I will start with the bad first. For the higher recoiling calibers the included rings are not recommended per Vortex. So I had to buy new rings. The eye relief on the scope is terrible. The scope is serviceable and has about the same clarity as the freedom line from Leupold. The included magazine came broken, but a no fuss call to customer service took care of that. It is a bit on the heavy side, but that can be good or bad.
The good; It is a very nice looking rifle. The action is very good and I had no feeding/extraction issues. I am glad it came threaded. The rifle shot sub moa with good ammo.
Overall it's a great rifle with good customer service. The scope is OK and the included rings are trash. It would have been great if Cabelas included a rifle only option.
