The M 1911 GI standard is a great representation of the original US GI combat issue 1911 and is chambered in 38 Super and built with our exacting engineering standards. Fixed, low profile sights and traditional smooth slim design are perfect for quick pull holster use. A durable parkerized finish gives it a tough, smooth, non-reflective surface. Smooth wood grips offer comfort in both feel and design. The 5 inches barrel offers a balanced weight to assist with the accuracy and recoil that made the original 1911 design famous. True to all Rock Island 1911s, the GI Standard comes with a crisp factory 4 to 6 lb trigger to make it a great experience right out of the box.

I wanted a .38 super, and this was available at an affordable price. shoots great. ammo is a bit pricey

Added some pink nail polish to the front sight to make it more visible. Doing better with it as i get used to the weight and recoil. Seems to be a solid firearm for the 100 rounds I have put through it.

The sights are terrible. Have to pay a gunsmith $200 to change them. And can't find self defense ammo for it

Over all the pistol was fine with one major imperfection. The pistol I purchased was to be a base gun. By itself it was a good shooter and as accurate as any in its price range. That being said, the holes that were drilled out for the main spring retaining pin was off. It took major effort to get it out and a lot more to get it in. I could see that is was going to damage the frame if I continued to remove it. I sold the pistol . Bottom line is it is a good shooter and that’s it.

Good bones. Barrel was a bit Rusty inside. Cleanup good. Only disappointment. Plan to replace later anyway. Price excellent.

Ammo is cheaper than 45 acp. I can get 38 super ammo at 3 different places where I’m at in WV. To me, it is the equivalent of shooting what a 9mm magnum would be, in comparison to the 9mm.

Exactly what I was looking for. I wanted a 1911 that had low recoil and one I did not have to baby. I have put over 200 rounds through it. Accuracy is good and pistol has functioned without any failures. I changed the grips since the smooth wood grips that came with it did not provide the purchase I like.

Shoots/feeds perfectly right out of the box. Have only put 150 rds through it so far, but no performance, fit, or finish issues at all. Something just cool about the basic GI model 1911, and this is an excellent value. I may end up putting a dot on the front sight, but that's all it needs.

Don't let the price fool you this gun is amazing fires very well not much for the wooden grips change them to American flag grips.....

I shot about 300 rounds with this pistol last week and it was flawless. It handled weak loads and plus P with no hiccups. Accuracy was all over the place with different loads. I did'nt know 38 supers were so finicky with ammo. It seems to like 130 gr the best. I am pleased with this pistol and the price is very fair. It did take about a month for Sportsmans to get it. I got some hammer bite on the web of my hand with the hot loads. Overall, a really nice gun at a very fair price.

I looked around for a quality 1911 and this Rock Island GI 1911 is it. The balance is great and the fit and finish are superior.

I’ve always wanted a super and herd good things of the RIA 1911 so I went for it. I’m glad I did, very nice gun for the money!

I like the gun – – I was not able to purchase any ammunition for it,it takes 38 super auto ammunition. I have not been able to locate any at this time everything shows --sold-out. I am however looking forward to going out to the pistol range and learning how to shoot it. I was hoping to purchase ammunition with it, but what can I say at this time.

This gun was exactly what I expected to get. It looked just like the photo. I did update the grips that improved the way it looks. I recommend this product. I would consider getting my next gun elsewhere because they are way understaffed. Between my two trips to Sportsman’s Warehouse in Puyallup I waited over 4 hours.

Common wisdom says that any gun is more accurate than the person shooting it. If that is true, this gun is crazy accurate because the shots from my first magazine out of this gun went into about a 4" group at roughly 10 yards. I had never fired a .38 super auto, and only get to shoot every couple of months, so do not consider me a professional. This is just a rock solid (pardon the pun) firearm and I am very pleased with the purchase. The only drawback so far is that it is a rascal to clean,

These are well made pistols and a good value for the price. Nothing fancy, they've got that WWII government issue look to them but they function as well as higher priced 1911's. The smooth wood grips are not that great but there's a huge selection of 1911 aftermarket grips to choose from as replacements.

Excellent starting point for a quality build! $150 in parts, and I’m happier than with a pistol twice the price ????

The picture shows it with wood grips, mine came with black plastic grips. Otherwise, it's a fun range toy.

Front sight blade could be better have a Luminous dot. Magazine does not seem to fit real well. Handgrips could have some grooves in them for better grip If you’re going to make a firearm and put your name on it make it good not cheap
