1 year agoI received the firearm in a very timely manner. It would have been here faster except that the Dallas area was having record ice and snow. I had wanted this pistol for a long time. The Colt is stunning and fired with no problems at all. It had been very hard to find. Grab a Gun notified me when they had the Colt back in stock. I am very proud to have this Colt in my collection. Thanks to Grab a Gun's service and reasonable pricing I have my Colt.

1 year agoAn excellent buy! I see that the price has gone up over $60 in the two weeks since I ordered mine. If you want one - better jump now! Grabagun service was great, no hitches.

1 year agoThis is just beautiful, a forged work of art. I've had it for a while now and it has performed flawlessly! Nothing like a Colt! Series 70 is the only way to fly.

1 year agoWhat is there to say about probably the best gun design ever! This Colt Series 70 1911 is a pure joy to both handle and shoot. I have a WWII era that is my gun collection pride and joy. This one will now be the workhorse and primary carry weapon. Yeah it big, yeah it's heavy...but it's a knockdown drag out caliber. I bought some Wilson 500 mags for some extra capacity. If 17 rounds (2 mags)don't do the job then the Lord meant for me to come to the pearly gates. Unlike reviews I read … Read More

1 year agoMy first purchase of a new 1911, and also my first on-line purchase. The process worked great ! I used a listed FFL near me, couldn’have been easier. The gun itself is a beauty. Just had it at the range today to zero in a red dot sight and try out a couple Wilson magazines. Great fun !

1 year agoI was told that Colt doesn’t make a quality product any more and other brands are better. But the other brands aren’t a Colt. I am very happy with this gun, it’s only had 100 rounds through it so far but without a single jam, it’s all good. I did change hammer to a wider blade style for more comfort. I like the simple military design, I’m thinking this is my favorite for now.

1 year agoVery easy and quick process. Gun is beautiful. The only things I noticed is the pic of the wood makes the wood look a bit lighter than in person. I love it though.

1 year agoThis is a terrific colt govt model. All parts are well fit and the finish is beautiful. Note: the extractor will need fitting. Google it up not difficult at all. Colt ships all their 1911s with serirs80 firing pin stop and extractor. No biggie but I do fit oversize pieces from egw instead. Not mandatory the series80 parts will run for a lifetime. Uses any quality ammo, ultra reliable. I like the colt barrel throat profile it eats all ammo. Great purchase GAG had a great price and shipped in … Read More

1 year agoAn old car guy once told me "Chrome won't get you home!" Referring to flashy chrome valve covers. They look nice but don't do anything for performance or reliability. This can be so true. The Good: Finish looks great and the wood grips are nice. Great looks and feel. Bluing looks much better than phosphate. Shoots exactly point of aim. The Bad: It won't finish a magazine without having 1-3 stovepipes. Some jam into the breech area and are hard to clear. Have ran about 150 … Read More

1 year agoBeautiful 45, looks, feels, shoots just as I'd hoped but after 2 range days its had multiple stove pipe jams. Tried 2 different Wilson Combat mags to no avail and on the 2nd day the stop bar between the safety and slide stop fell off. The mags all ran perfectly in my Colt Competition in the same session but I'm not giving up on this one. I'm having it looked at, then we'll try it again. I had to give this one a 5 on looks, point of aim hits & ergo's but right now a 2 on performance. Still like it & will keep running it until it's right.

1 year agoto turn this into a real 70 series does require replacement parts being installed. this isn't a big deal for those familiar with 1911's, but it ain't cheap either. the major thing you will want to replace is the hammer. the repro 70 series uses the 80 series (no half-cock) hammer. if you don't mind the weird feeling of the hammer falling from what should be the half-cock position when you pull the trigger, then you don't have to change anything.
