High quality little Rifle. Bought for my Daughter was very impressed after siting the rifle in. Shot 1 inch groups at 100 yards.

Great little rifle for a kid. Shots accurately and the peep sights are nice. I have the wood stock model and it is very nice. Only problem is the firing pin hits the ammunition too lightly with a fair amount of miss fires. Even with CCI mini mags I have a miss fire every 10 to 15 rounds but much better then with other ammo.

Got this for my 7&9 yo for xmas. The overall size and peep sight make it a lot easier for them. At 25 yds they were able to hit a ground hog shaped/sized target after only a couple of minutes coaching. Great Fun!

I bought my 10 year old a pellet gun and when he tried to shoot it he had a tough time holding it up long enough to aim, after a dozen tries he didn't want to shoot it anymore. I decided to try a small 22 that would be light enough for him to handle. After doing a little research and checking the cricket, the oh henry and the savage we settled on the savage. My son loves this gun, it fits him well and at 2.5 pounds he can take his time aiming. I like the safety, he puts it on safe everytime he loads a new shell in it, which will help train him about safety.

bought this gun for granddaughter - had her shooting balloons with it. Easy to load, very safe, had no misfires but even if it did its a good safe way to introduce someone to shooting. The peep sight is pretty bad - wouldn't mind putting a scope on it but the cost of the bases is way too steep. If it had grooves for typical rimfire scope I would have given it a 5

I bought this awhile ago for my kid & her small stature mom to use. Very simple to use, the red feed ramp allows easier quick loading. I got the blue stock version I had problems with brass stuck in the chamber, either the extractor is weak or the chamber is not smooth, I use a .270 brush on a drill, seemed to fix it. Hiccups like these aren't fun especially brand new. The most fun ammo to use is CCI shorts or Quiets, always extracts reliably, fun for accurate plinking, and you miss accurately too. The best feature is the Rear Sight, once you have it zeroed there is no need for a scope, I had many successful rabbit & grouse hunts with this than my Henry H001 & Ruger 10/22 combined! Once you have the sights zeroed its the perfect starter rifle for new hunters.

I bought this for my daughter but I use it all the time. Being so small it lays perfectly across the handlebars of my trail bike. I have a red dot sight on it and it is very accurate. The grouse tally is starting to add up.

This is a nice little rifle for kids and adults. I purchased to help my grandkids learn to shoot. It is a single shot breech load rifle which allowed you to shoot .22 long rifle, short, and CB rounds. I live on a ranch with a lot of space but those pesky gophers are just tearing up my plants. I use this little rifle and a CB .22 round and have not missed yet. Other than that, the safety is a moderately sized lever with positive feel. The peep sight is nice but not my favorite type of sight but it still is pretty accurate. These features are designed for younger users I believe. The Accutrigger is something that I would have never expected from Savage but it comes standard. Kudos to Savage. Overall this is a nice little rifle and I am very pleased with its function.

I bought the rascal after looking at other kid sized guns. My boys love it, and it fits them perfectly.

Bought this youth rifle for the purpose of getting my grandkids into shooting. After one trip to my gun club with my oldest granddaughter I am convinced I made a good purchase. Quality and ease of use are both excellent!

I bought this rifle for my kids to shoot and something that would fit in my quad box. Problems with this rifle include: - Factory peep sights are not useable. An experienced shooter can’t consistently hit a can at 10yds - Scope mounts are drilled so crooked I’d need to shim the scope at least 60 moa - Even with the scope shimmed, the accuracy is lousy Absolutely not worth buying this trash. Certainly not something you want to start your kids of with. Do yourself a favour and buy something that works. Kids are never going to get into shooting when they are given faulty rifles

So, I bought this rifle to train my son. However, I am blown away by the quality and the accuracy. The trigger is ask crisp as my Tikka, and the peep sight while it receives its fair share of hate in these reviews is impressively accurate. I can literally stack bullets with this thing with minimal effort. Heck if they ever make a long pull stock, I'll just upgrade it and keep it once he outgrows it.

This has been a great gun for my 7 year old. We’ve shot a couple hundred rounds through it and it has never failed. I use CCI Mini Mags and they seem to do well.

I bought one of these used and it showed up without a rear sight. A quick email to savage and they sent me a new one. I got it for my son but I have at least as much fun shooting it as I do shooting my ruger 10/22. "It is an intimate shooting experience"

I have to give this a lot score because I ordered a right handed version but I got home with a left. Now they refuse to do anything about it. Granted I should have double checked, but I bought 2 guns at the time and I was in a hurry on my lunch break.

My kid has had this rifle for quite some time. Her first gun, lots of safety training, lots of range time, she loves the gun so I'm sure she would give it 5 stars. However I'm not convinced this is a 5 star rifle. At least the one we had was not a 5 star rifle. To me the 3 key pieces to a firearm is comfort, reliability & accuracy. It is a comfortable rifle, accuracy is good. Not going to win any competitions with it but good for fun plinking and hunting. Where her rifle fell short is the reliability. Mainly the extraction. Had many many times where I'd have to dig a spent casing out because it didn't extract after firing. Plinking it be ok but from a hunting perspective having to dig out a spent casing with game around, not so good. Maybe it was just hers but if the reliability was there, I'd give it 4.5 stars

Great gun for my son to use for target practice. With it being single shot, it really teaches patience. Pretty loud for a .22 so ear muffs/plugs needed. Overall a fantastic little gun.
