After Nelson King patented his new loading system his 1866 model played a prominent part in the winning of the West. The 1866 model as it was famously known because of its shiny brass frame, was the successor to the Henry rifle. Production began in 1866 and continued through 1898, a period when both rifles and carbines were introduced. The 1866 rifle features a brass frame, brass forend cap and butt plate, blued and case hardened steel parts, octagonal barrel, dovetail buckhorn rear and front blade sight, and a walnut rifle style butt stock.

1 year agoThis is one beautiful rifle. Fit and finish could not be better. Balance is excellent. Chose this over the Winchester offering because of the beauty factor, the hexagon barrel, and the price point. Grab-A-Gun had the best price, low shipping charge, and no penalty for using a credit card. No brainer!

1 year agoFit and finnish is amazing, beautiful wood, well fit together. The internals, the smoothness of the action left much to be desired. trigger pull was especially stiff. not being picky, i expect to have any firearm tuned to perform as i like, but this was out of the box, not as smooth as other lever actions I have owned. My marlin cowboy gun out of the box was ready to go. Damn fine looking firearm. Service from grab a gun was superb.
