The A400 Xplor Action is a semi-automatic shotgun that will be equally at home on an upland, duck or deer hunt as well as at the clay range. It incorporates all the advantages of the revolutionary A400 concept–low profile action, light weight, lightning-fast follow-up shots, low recoil, easy maintenance–and combines them with the classic looks of blue steel and walnut stock. But even here, Beretta has an eye towards innovation, offering updated lines and checkering, as well as a contrasting-color receiver. Available in 12, 20 and 28 gauge, the A400 Xplor Action defines performance and versatility in a semi auto. With its bronze-colored receiver, its classic Beretta blue barrel and its select walnut stock, the A400 Xplor Action is an elegant piece of gear that will figure very nicely even next to a premium over-under. The checkering is fine, giving you secure purchase while pointing and shooting, and on the fore-end, it features the Beretta Trident logo for an updated look. Keeping this shotgun as good as new after a long day on the field or at the range is quick and easy: you can field-strip the A400 Xplor without any tools, and it comes apart in only five components that are a snap to reassemble. All these features make the A400 Xplor Action the best and most versatile wood-blue semiauto shotgun for a variety of hunting and sporting purposes.

1 year agoWe bought this for my wife to use when we shoot trap and sporting clays together. The 12 guage she was using was using just beat her up too much even with light loads. The A400 is the first shotgun that she's held where she said, "I like it and want it." I don't know how Beretta does it but this gun stays really clean even after a few hundred plus rounds. Recoil is non existent with the kick off. I want one now too. 12 guage of course. I love the way it shoulders and points. I started to pattern it. The mod choke using 7/8 ounce ultra clays was disappointing at its best. I ran out of time so didn't get to try the other chokes or different brands of ammo. I'll report back after further testing. Once the xplor was broken in it cycled perfectly with light loads. It looks great and just feels right.

1 year agoGot this gun in a 20ga. – between being a 20ga and having the kick-off pad, you might think you were using someone else’s shoulder to shoot it. Shot 200 rounds after an initial cleaning, and not one problem.

1 year agoI'm a little disappointed with this gun. I shot 250 rounds of 1300 fps 7/8 shot thru this and it jammed frequently. I found some heavier 1oz shot and put thru 2 boxes of that. Still jamming a couple of time. Went back to 7/8, jammed like crazy. Went back to bass pro, they sent it back to Beretta. It came back with no explanation but i could see they machined the gas vent a little. The charging handle had also scored up the bronze finish already. After two weeks i got the gun back from Beretta. (Bass Pro in Auburn, NY did a nice job taking care of this for me) I used it for sporting clays. About half way (25 shots) the jamming commenced again. Usually the shell didn't eject and the second shell is also trying to get into the breech. I've probably stripped this gun 6 times, fully cleaned and lubed it extensively. It shoot nice. I adjusted the stock to suit me. I like a 60/40 pattern. Its an effective clay gun. Slightly whippy. The recoil on the 7/8 is nice. When using the heavier rounds it still kicks due to its light weight. I am hoping that the jamming stops. I plan to try another few rounds of clays, more heavier shells before giving in. I have other Beretta's they all work nice...except this one!

1 year agoI bought the 20G A400 after my shoulder surgery, this gun is a smooth as silk, love using it for hunting and clay. The one thing I hate is cycling, it jams quite often . It does fine with with most 1 oz shots.

1 year agoI already own the A400 extreme plus and love it. I bought this one because my 12 year old daughter is getting into bird hunting with me. I wanted to buy a gun I know will last her for years and won’t beat her up. First time out she hit 17-25 clays and didn’t make her shoulder sore at all and didn’t fatigue her too much because it weighs very little, about 5 pounds. I took it out myself on opening day of forest grouse and Packed it around all day and enjoyed the lightness of it. Very little recoil because of the kick-off system. This will be a great addition to my shotgun collection

1 year agoI purchased this gun in 12 and 20 gauge and could not be happier I own many Beretta auto's, ranging from the SL2, A 303, A351 and now the A400's. They are all " my favorite gun". You just cant find a better shooting, reliable automatic.

1 year agoGreat gun! Had an issue with shipping that was on UPS and the AK store that shipped it was very helpful wish I could say the same for the online customer service. But the gun itself is great!
