I really like this rifle. action is smooth. good weight and ergonomics. the scope is decent and the bdc retical is very close with standard ball ammo. you can't beat it for the money. this is my second savage rifle and i'm impressed.

I like it !! Great gun for the price. after bore sighting. only toke two shots and dead on at 100 yards.

On first glance this is a nice rifle. Light and feels good on the shoulder. The action is a little stiff but that will work out in time if i keep it that long and this is the rub. I had read about misfires or light strikes on the Axis most of which seemed to be around one particular type / make of ammo so i went ahead and purchased what was going to be my new predator gun in 223. Took it out last week to sight it in and every 4 or so rounds misfired. Tried different ammo same

A good shooting rifle for the price. Out of the box, the scope was way off but no big deal, it came in relatively easy. I did invest in a larger capacity magazine. For what I wanted, this more than meets my needs

Gave this four stars, due to the inexpensive scope it is kind of blurry unless you increase the power. As for the rifle it handles well, shoulders well and the weight is right on. The rifle itself is a five star item, haven't sighted it in yet as I may replace the scope first. The set up may be good out to 100/200yds but with a good scope this rifle should be able to reach out much farther 5 to 600yds.

This is my first Savage rifle, in 6.5 Creedmore. Picked it up yesterday and to the range today. The build quality seems to be very good for a "budget" rifle. 1) The scope: My second time zeroing a scope on a rifle. I don't think mine was ever bore sighted, it took a huge adjustment to get it zeroed both for windage and elevation. 2) Accuracy: Once I managed to get it sighted, it is extremely accurate. I was shooting 200 yrds and hitting a 4" plate with ease. (longest distance available at

The best word to describe this weapon is “elegant”. Clean lines and simple efficient design. Dead accurate right out of the box. I really dig this platform. 223 is my go-to caliber, so this is my new favorite little gun.

Nice rifle. Good looking unit. I've added a sling & an ammo band. Bolt action is smooth forward & back, but the bolt uplift is kind of stiff. I'm sure it will loosen up with more usage. Thank you.

Has a good feel to it and has sufficient weight to it so that you can hold rifle steady. Need to pay particular attention to the Acutrigger if you don't push trigger back correctly it will not fire. Then you have to reset by reenacting the bolt. Definitely works as designed. Great buy, just need to get familiar with the trigger Very happy with purchase.

Savage.. known as a “ working man’s rifle” for years, also known by those who know quality workmanship and close tolerances know Savage rifles are extremely accurate because the way they are assembled. Other manufacturers now use the same “ lock nut” design that Savage started over 70 years ago. Axis ll XP, with accutrigger leading the way again. ...Read More Read more about review stating Savage Axis ll XP
