Smith and Wesson 642 Pro Series Stainless .38 SPL 1.875 inch 5Rd No Lock

I was excited to receive this model 642; No lock and moon clips, yes please! I really enjoy shooting the centennial J frame and it makes for an easy to carry and simple to conceal package. I also like using moon clips because they make for quick reloads. Everything was great until I realized this cylinder was never cut for moon clips! The revolver is currently back to S&W to install the proper cylinder. I was only able to dry fire the gun before I sent it back to the factory. I'll be shooting it as soon as it's returned.

Loaded moon clips are a little difficult load but makes up with ease of unloading. Trigger pull is decent.

I am happy with my new S&W 642. Do not let the trigger pull be intimidating. Its perfect for up close defense. Fun carry gun.

I like the size and the Hammerless feature no lock is nice it's very simple to use. the front is very hard to see with aging eyes but it's a point and shoot/point blank kinda thing.. Trigger is smooth and gets better even with 50 rounds through it.. recoil is significant GirlFriend had a red mark on her hand after 5 rounds she wasn't impress So I changed the grip to the Pachmayr Gripper which is larger but feels so much better.. I had to cancel my purchase for this gun because the timing or something was off. Trigger would stick at the end of pull just before the break. Sales associate also agreed that there was something not right with this gun.

The revolver was exactly what I expected and wanted regarding size and appearance. Everything worked perfectly first time at the range. However the light weight and resulting recoil may be a problem for me. I will try again before making a decision.

Pistol is great. More accurate than I expected. Recoils less than I was led to believe. Sting trigger pull but smooth and what you want with a DA only pistol. Sportsman's needs to set up their game with shipping. There's no reason it should take 2 weeks before they ship a firearm to themselves.
