2 years agoI purchased this rifle in 308 March 2021 and have 300 rounds through it. Break in is around 100 rounds. Ive shoot out to 800m this rifle is best you can get for the money. I put on and MDT muzzel brake and bi pod. Put a Vector Optics Continental 5x30x56 scope on it. Its my first Savage rifle and definitely wont be the last. I have my eye on the Savage Elite 300win.

2 years agoI bought this in .223 as it comes in a 1:7 twist and the MDT Mags are long enough to take the 88gr bullets easily 700yrds on a 10 inch plate no problems moved out to 1000 on a 15inch plate and made numerous hits when the wind would cooperate great for pushing your wind reading abilities at long range on a budget much cheaper to shoot than my other set ups with the price of powder etc.

2 years agoI bought this in 6.5 Creedmoor and has been an excellent shooter. Let’s talk pros and cons. Pros: Accurate. - I zeroed the rifle and got a feel with only 20 rounds. The scope is a budget Riton X3 6-24x50 FFP mil reticle. I shot a match barrel barely broken in and I did OK on paper ( my first LRP match ever shooting past 200 yards) when it came to breaking targets, I was able to break all five 4” clay pigeons at 275 yards with 5 rounds. I left the trigger in its default setting which was just right for me. Cons: Feeding sometimes sticks and you need to pull the bolt back and slide it forward again to seat a round. Lifting the bolt requires a lot of force, I fixed it two ways, 1 install a lift kit which has bearings to reduce friction 2 installed an aftermarket longer threaded bolt handle .

2 years agoWow. Beautiful rifle. I adjusted the trigger to its lightest setting and then i noticed that side pressure on the trigger safety blade would cause a dry fire where the firing pin never struck the primer. This was confusing at first until i studied the trigger mechanism. The trigger is perfect. I was using it improperly and it responded as designed.

2 years agoIt doesn’t have the right butt stock. Don’t have a option to put a sling on without buying a new one

2 years agoGreat accurate rifle. I bought it in .308 and mounted a Vortex Viper scope and magpul bipod. 2 shots, 2 deer last year.

1 year agoI finally fired this after a year of no ammo. Its shoots great and fires fine. Trigger is adjustable. Great budget 6.5 zero issues

1 year agoThis is a real solid gun. The 6.5 creedmoor suprised me and seems to be a bit more accurate than the .308 in my experience. Really good rifle.

1 year agoI cleaned and then bore scoped the barrel and with the machining marks looking like bolt hole threads i thought wow it will take a lot of break in to get good groups with that barrel. to my surprise the groupings were very good. although cleaning a lot of copper out after range trips getting good groups consistently and rifling is smoothing out. I have 2 Lr308's in 6.5cm, one with a wilson combat barrel and one with a proof research barrel and neither are as accurate my Savage.

1 year agoFail to feed issues with over half of the 6.5 Creedmoor rounds. Cleaned and lubed the rifle before first firing and multiple times after, tried different magazines, tried two ammo brands, fast or slow bolt closing. Doesn't make a difference. What happens is the bullet tip gets stuck right where the chamber necks down. Letting off the bolt and then closing it works, but it's a pain to back off the bolt nearly every round. It should be smooth all the way. Not sure if I just got a bad one,

1 year agoRifle was excellent. Although that being said, I find it disturbing that Savage themselves does not clean the bolt and barrel. It is dirty and hard to clean on the bolt face as well as the barrel. Kind of disappointed in that being a "NEW" purchase. Do a youtube or forum search, you will find that this is a common among savage rifles.

1 year agoI’d love to say that I can give this firearm an honest and fair review, but thats a bit challenging at the moment. I purchased it 30 days ago, to the day. I went into the store the next day, filled out the background check paperwork, and asked the person at the counter how long it would take the Oregon State Police to process my background check. He informed me I was 12,000th in line and it would probably take 3 months to clear. At the moment, my rifle is siting on a shelf at the store. I held

1 year agoSeriously impressive gun for the price. I'm an amateur long range shooter and just as I was starting, I was hitting 600 yards repeatedly with this gun in 6.5CM. Absolutely love it.

1 year agoI like how it looks, haven't fired it yet. I need to set it up first. It feels really good for the price. Bolt is smooth.

1 year agoA good good boomboi. Deads all the deer very good. Shoots bullets well over three yards. Does not shoot in meters though.

1 year agoSecond precision 2 I purchased, like most savage rifles it shoots sub moa. Sportsman warehouse is always hassle free and easy to work with. Total time in store was under 30 minutes...pretty speedy.

1 year agoSavage has done it again! The rifle shoot spectator. I was cutting bullet holes with it at 200 yards. Coyotes don’t have a prayer and I haven’t got to deer hunt with it yet but I’m sure I’ll get the same results from the rifle. Looking to buy the same rifle chambered in 308 her soon.

1 year agoThis rifle is super clean, smooth, and shoots great! Wish it came with a barrel brake but it made me customize it the way I wanted

1 year agoThis gun shoots like a dream. No matter what you feed it it spits it out there with great accuracy. 500 yard shots are a walk in the park. 4 inch metal at 500 yards all day long. If you miss it's not the guns fault it's human error. Give one a try you won't be sorry.
