1 year agoI currently have all three calibers of Ruger Alaskan, 44, 454 and 480. Most seem to prefer the 454 over the 480. Because of the size of the 480 bullet the TKO or knockdown power is the same as the 454 despite its reduced recoil. Both at a TKO of 20. The advantage of the 480 over the 454 is the reduced recoil with equivalent TKO. The advantage of 454 over the 480 is that there are a lot more manufacturers make 454, only a few making 480 and 454 is a little cheaper.

1 year agoI have not shot it yet because of the stupid corn to you and national parks being closed as well as shooting Rangers but I can say that it is a very well made revolver and most in definitely worth the purchase.

1 year agoI’ve been looking for Ruger Super Redhawk Alaskan .454 Casull for a year. I would see people selling used ones for almost $2000. Guns.com had this new one for a very good price. Hopefully do some shooting this weekend.

1 year agoBuild quality is absolutely amazing. The gun is phenomenal. I bought this gun to be able to shoot full power 44 magnum loads. It handles the Buffalo Bore 340 grain +p+ loads without blinking. Thus far I have put 250 rounds of the heavy Buffalo Bore rounds through gun and not had a single hiccup.
