Federal Premium Personal Defense 10mm 180 gr Hydra-Shok 20 Rounds Ammunition – P10HS1

About half of the bullets had a cruddy buildup on them. I carefully scraped off the best I could. Anybody else have this problem?

This ammo is loaded to 1030fps, only a little more than 40cal velocities, but the Hydra-Shok bullet is designed for those velocities and expands superbly. This is the ammo I load in my 1911 for home protection. I'm sure it will be deadly at close range with (possibly) less over-penetration than what you would get with hotter loads. Because it is a milder load it is very easy to shoot with reduced recoil and increased accuracy. Think about it, for home/personal protection do you need full-house 10mm loads? That might be overkill.

I have been carrying this stuff for years and it has never failed to go bang and hit hard. It will penetrate where an regular hollow point will not and still expand.

Just bought ten boxes of this. Appears to be very old stock Bullets have corrosion on copper and lead has white residue. Boxes have three different lot numbers and some are beat up. PSA has a no return policy for ammo so I'm stuck with them.

This is underpowered ammo. If you pay 10mm prices, you should get 10mm ballistics. The only reason for the second star is that it will cycle in a glock 20 gen4. This should be rebranded as "low recoil" or ".40 s&w long".

To weak for the price. If I would of wanted a .40 I would of bought one.. Step up your game Federal!

One afternoon my partner used this exact Federal 10mm 180-grain Hydra-Shok to stop a violent subject who was heavily armed. Without going into detail all I will say is, do Not be fooled into thinking this isn't a highly effective round. From a professional law enforcement standpoint, this particular round gives perfect expansion and penetration.
