I bought this about three weeks ago for my daughter in 243 and she has taken it to the range twice. She was able to shoot 1.5 inch groups right away as a new shooter. I was very excited. I would have rated this package higher if it weren't for the unbelievable stiffness of the bolt, the bolt release and the magazine. My daughter has to put the gun on her hip to cycle new rounds. I have wrestled with this bolt release to a frustrating extent. So it's accurate but I would pay more for a gun that isn't so stiff.

I want to give the gun 5 stars. The rifle itself is fantastic! Really happy with it. The scope that came with it was impossible to deal with. The focus was so tight you could barely turn it withough skewing the reticle by twisting the entire scope in its own mounts. Sighting it was just as bad. After a while of torquing on it it's stopped clicking. Can't move it in the last few inches at 100yrd. It remained inaccurate no matter what i did. I will buy from savage arms again, but I'll get my own scopes from now on.

Bought this rifle in a 30-06 last year, and took it Blacktail deer hunting with my son. I was all excited to try to use it, and then he borrowed it for 10 minutes and walked away from me and shot a beautiful buck with it! So, it works, and I'm liking it more all the time. The bolt is a little stiff, but seems to be loosening up over time. Also, it's a great value, so having to get scratched up in the woods only makes me feel better about it. Highly accurate and reliable as far as I can tell.

It is a great rifle. But, you want to change the scope rings out as soon as you get the rifle, because it is rather difficult to manipulate the bolt handle with the short scope rings.

if 308 prices ever drop back down to earth, this will get more use. Good trigger and great price (in early 2020).

The gun was supposed to be bore-sighted when it came but it was off about 6 inches at 25 yards. I suggest you have your gun dealer redo the bore sight before you waste too much ammo. Otherwise, I’m happy with the gun.

The bolt is not that smooth but I think over time and using better lube it will be just fine. Extremely accurate with the included scope (comes bore sighted).

I just took it to the range for the first time today. The action was smooth and it had no trouble with the Fiochi ammunition I used. I didn’t have any problems cycling through rounds. I was impressed with the Bushnell scope that came with it.

Excellent product and fair price. I only shot 3 experimental loads at 100 yards. My best group of three was a one inch group.

The new Gen 2 model of this gun is outstanding. The new stock is a huge upgrade over the previous generation and as before, it has their well know adjustable trigger. It also comes with a scope. You can’t beat this package at this price point. Plus it’s made in the USA.

This rifle seems to be well built and shot a good group out of the box. It is a excellent buy in my opinion. I would highly recommend it for anyone looking for a good inexpensive hunting rifle.

It is as advertised Good for entry level bolt action 308 Could use a better Quailty scope But still works

My first bolt action rifle, never shot the rifle with the factory stock, but with a bedded wood stock I got sub moa groups with match ammo, 1.5 moa groups with a game load. I don’t notice too much of a loss in accuracy when the barrel gets hot. Cycling stuck a little at first but with wear, it smoothed out. Would recommend.

Nice little gun . I like that it’s lite and its a fast little rifle grate for stomping through the brush . Ok optical it hits a nice group at the distance I need . May upgrade scope later . Best thing was the price at 350.00 ish can’t beat it

This is one nice weapon with a great scope. I purchased it for long range shooting of predator threats or survival in the woods, while hiking.

Great budget rifle. Can't ask for anything better at under $500. Even the included scope serves it's intended purpose well. I installed a high quality scope and found that the included scope was just as accurate. I can't speak on longevity of scope life as I only shot 20 rounds with it then replaced it. The adjustable trigger is another great feature. Adjusted it to the lightest pull and helps greatly with accuracy. Very crisp trigger and very predictable. About 1 MOA at 100 yds! Only negative

Savage.. known as a “ working man’s rifle” for years, also known by those who know quality workmanship and close tolerances know Savage rifles are extremely accurate because the way they are assembled. Other manufacturers now use the same “ lock nut” design that Savage started over 70 years ago. Axis ll XP, with accutrigger leading the way again. ...Read More Read more about review stating Savage Axis ll XP
