Steel frame, smooth action, great price... what more fun can you have or do you want, than a classic '58 Remington BP clone!

3 stars is for price, this gun can be found for $199, so why Traditions charges so much is beyond me. Do your research and save some money for ammo, powder, caps, tools, and cleaning supplies. Watch some YouTube videos, this gun should be completely taken down and cleaned after each day of use or it will rust. You can find .45 Colt conversion cylinders if you don't like the hastle of black powder BP, but the cost more than the gun at most places. Still this is the most durable, fastest reload old West style you can get.

A pleasure to fire, shoots well, so far 12 rounds no problems 44 cal. with 25 grains Pyrodex has a little kick to it. you do need to Calvary aim or the expended caps will jam the gun Need to field strip and clean real good and lube, factory left a lot of black grime in the gun. Check all the screws found several loose ones, be careful not to over tighten screws they are soft and the heads strip easily. Gun is covered with a thick layer of shipping grease that need to be clean off.

I use this gun for plinking and with a Kirst converter and some home made snake shot for settlers . It never miss fires as long as the nipples are clean

This is my first blackpowder pistol and it is great. It is very accurate for a black powder revolver and it is a heck of a lot of fun to shoot. The Traditions brand is actually made by Pietta so there are many accessories and parts that are readily available. The price is very reasonable and the 1858 is the best revolver to get for people new to black powder. You're getting a great revolver for the price. You won't be disappointed.
