2 years agoI bought this about three weeks ago for my daughter in 243 and she has taken it to the range twice. She was able to shoot 1.5 inch groups right away as a new shooter. I was very excited. I would have rated this package higher if it weren't for the unbelievable stiffness of the bolt, the bolt release and the magazine. My daughter has to put the gun on her hip to cycle new rounds. I have wrestled with this bolt release to a frustrating extent. So it's accurate but I would pay more for a gun that isn't so stiff.

2 years agoI want to give the gun 5 stars. The rifle itself is fantastic! Really happy with it. The scope that came with it was impossible to deal with. The focus was so tight you could barely turn it withough skewing the reticle by twisting the entire scope in its own mounts. Sighting it was just as bad. After a while of torquing on it it's stopped clicking. Can't move it in the last few inches at 100yrd. It remained inaccurate no matter what i did. I will buy from savage arms again, but I'll get my own scopes from now on.

2 years agoBought this rifle in a 30-06 last year, and took it Blacktail deer hunting with my son. I was all excited to try to use it, and then he borrowed it for 10 minutes and walked away from me and shot a beautiful buck with it! So, it works, and I'm liking it more all the time. The bolt is a little stiff, but seems to be loosening up over time. Also, it's a great value, so having to get scratched up in the woods only makes me feel better about it. Highly accurate and reliable as far as I can tell.

2 years agoIt is a great rifle. But, you want to change the scope rings out as soon as you get the rifle, because it is rather difficult to manipulate the bolt handle with the short scope rings.

1 year agoOnly got to put a few rounds through it so far but like the weight and feel. The scope that comes with it was dead on. Handled well, easy to clean. Bolt was smooth to operate. Overall it's a good rifle for beginners (Never owned a rifle beyond a bb gun, just shotguns and a couple .22 pistols). Guy at the range said it was a nice rifle. Let him put a couple rounds through it and was impressed as well.

1 year agoRifle is accurate. Scope is ok for lite hunting or target's. Rings and bases are garbage. Bases won't work with good rings. To wide to fit Weaver rings. No part of rings stay tight.

1 year agorifle scope was not even close to being level....rifle/scope was not bore sighted at all....had to take weapon to my local gunsmith to rectify the problems...out of pocket expenses for this was 35.00...where is the quality control for this weapon while shipped and upon its arrival at Sportsmans warehouse...so disappointed with all this

1 year agoIm a first time buyer. Think I got alot for my $$$. I did target shooting and felt it was pretty accurate after very little adjustment on scoop.

1 year agoExcellent value in a sub-MOA rifle. Stock leaves some to be desired. But if your looking to fill a freezer and not wow groupies at the range this is your best choice for value.

1 year agoGreat Budget rifle. Was bore sighted from the factory and was on paper at 50 yards first shot. Only took 4 shots to get it close at 50 yards and only a couple more to zero it at 100. Factory Scope is nice for the money, not perfect but usable. Stock seems to be a little flimsy, and is the reason for 4 stars vs 5. But again nothing that affects the usability of the rifle.

1 year agoGreat package. The stock feels cheap and the trigger is very crisp. This gun is a great starter gun.

1 year agoThe gun is nice and light the scope is a little bit shy for the distance he can shoot it’s only nine power probably needs a 20 power on it to make it more usable but it’s beautiful and I love it

1 year agoGreat gun so far. Shoots straight. Scope is sufficient for starting out. Make sure to double check that all screws/hardware mounting the scope to the gun are snugged down so you're not wandering around the paper trying to zero it in.

1 year agoGreat gun would love to use it more but cant find any ammo for it. Scoop is good right out of the box. For the money you cant argue about it

1 year agoGreat Rifle, Great Price already set the trigger, feather lite. Cycles nice and scope is just fine for white tail. Ready for Mi Deer Added a black Sling for a complete Black Pkg. Looks Super.

1 year agoOne of the main features that I appreciate of Savage Rifles is the AccuTrigger. Although I prefer a wooden stock there are benefits to the synthetic stock. This rifle is accurate and as it proved itself on the range it will likewise do it in the field.

1 year agoBuying the rifles was made easy by the staff They guided me through the process and being a first time buyer in New York their help was great. Due to the lack of ammo I have not had the opportunity to fire them yet. So no review for them yet.

1 year agoGreat rifle, and the sight is more than I expected for a free one that came with rifle. I love the trigger how it feels when I squeeze it, didn't even have to make any adjustments to it. I purchased this rifle to shoot along with my M1 Garand, That's why I got it in Caliber .30-.06 Springfield. If you're waiting to get one I recommend you pull the trigger and buy, you wont be let down.

1 year agoSavage.. known as a “ working man’s rifle” for years, also known by those who know quality workmanship and close tolerances know Savage rifles are extremely accurate because the way they are assembled. Other manufacturers now use the same “ lock nut” design that Savage started over 70 years ago. Axis ll XP, with accutrigger leading the way again. ...Read More Read more about review stating Savage Axis ll XP
