Browning X-Bolt Pro Carbon Gray Bolt Action Rifle – 28 Nosler – 26in – Browning is delving into semi-custom rifle production with these new X-Bolt Pro rifles. What classifies them as “semi-custom rifles” is the level of specialized finishing touches and higher end construction above the already top-tier X-Bolt family of hunting rifles. First, the X-Bolt Pro models feature a true carbon fiber stock — now lighter than previous versions — making it extremely lightweight and rigid. The stock is filled with a noise-dampening foam. In addition to the carbon fiber stock, this rifle includes a number of upgrades. Most obvious is the great-looking, durable and highly protective Cerakote Carbon Gray finish. At the end of the skip fluted, sporter contour barrel resides the new Recoil Hawg muzzle brake. The Recoil Hawg tames felt recoil up to 77% for more comfortable shooting. A thread protector is also included.
- Natural finish carbon fiber stock
- 1/4 pound weight reduction over previous models
- Cerakote Carbon Gray Elite finish on barrel, action and bolt
- Skip fluted sporter contour barrel with threaded muzzle
- New Recoil Hawg muzzle brake (thread protector included)
- Spiral fluted bolt with Cerakote Carbon Gray Elite finish
- Removeable Picatinny accessory rail (swivel studs included)

1 year agoTo start off with the rifle is a beautiful specimen. The skip trace barrel fluting is just perfect and the cerakoting is solid. Working the bolt is like butter, I could probably cycle a round with my pinky if I really needed to. Same crisp Browning trigger as always. The weapon is featherlight and points just fine. I cannot say anything for accuracy yet as I have yet to find the scope I have in mind for it in stock. I can tell you that I ran four rifles through my chronograph for muzzle velocity and none of them were as consistent as the 6.8. I fired the Winchester 165 gr rounds and got a median FPS of 2858 and all three shots were within 12 FPS with factory ammo. My .300, 7mm Rem Mag, and 7MM STW were up to 90 FPS off each round fired on average. The recoil was super managable (although I am a larger guy) and the rifle was not nearly as snappy as I thought it would be. Very smooth shooting weapon. I will update once I get my scope boresighted and dialed in but I have very high hopes for this latest addition to the collection.
