1 year agoBought this gun last year in the cerekote .308 and here are my personal findings. First off I'm no expert, but you get your money's worth with this rifle. It's good out of the box, but the trigger pull was a tad heavy. So do yourself a favor and follow the instructions and lighten it up. Second, it is very picky on its ammo. I reload and tuned my rounds. here what I found works best. Winchester brass, 44gr Varget powder (or 4064), 168gr Nosler BT hunting, Federal gold primer. This for me was the best so far after a lot of testing. Third, The stock is good enough for hunting within the 100 to 300 yard range, however if you want to see some improvement, bed your stock. Otherwise swap it our for something stronger. Overall construction is decent. You'll get about a 2 inch grouping on average right out of the box once you have sighted in at 100 yards.

1 year agoAll components of the rifle are quality made with the exception of fastening (screws/treads) of stock to the barrel. Groupings are within 1" - 1 1/2" on 50 yds. No malfunctions so far.

1 year agoI've had this rifle (in 30-06) for a year, shot many groups. It consistently puts 3 rounds through a toonie at 400M. Coached some other guys on it hitting 1 inch gongs at 150-200m, no problem. If you know what you're doing, this thing will not fail you. The synthetic stock is great for bush bashing, and the front sling swivel will accommodate an inexpensive bipod relatively easily. Plan to take a deer and maybe a moose this season - I know it won't let me down.

1 year agoI bought it a month ago and used it today for the 1st time. I was very happy with the performance. The vortex II scope is excellent and the rifle shoots consistently well. No jamming, no issues with the bolt. I wish it would come with 2 mags instead of one.

1 year agoI bought the 6.5 Creedmoor a few months ago and it is a great rifle. it has some kick back but not a lot. but enough for you to still have a lot of fun.

1 year agoLove love love my patriot .308 win! I bought it early last year on sale for $5.49. the scope is great for accurately shooting 100 yards. Got my first moose with her this year. Zero action issues. I would definitely recommend this rifle for any beginner hunter like myself. Thanks Mossberg

1 year agoBought the Patriot in 270 a year ago and have since put 60 rounds through it. Vortex scope is clear. Accurate and reliable. Would definitely buy again but I'd rather get it in 308

1 year agoI've had this in 270win for 5 months now and shot about 80 rounds. I was looking for a good deer/moose rifle and couldn't be happier. Love the action, im impressed with the crossfire 2 vortex scope. Added sling, bipod and cheek riser. I've been shooting up to 325 yards with 2 inch groups. Be sure to add loctite and recheck scope rings torque and you're good to go. If you're looking for a first all around rifle and don't want to spend to much but still get a good/decent reliable setup this set is for you.

1 year agoCabela's was supposed to have bore sighted it, they didn't. Went through a box of ammo trying to get it sighted in. Then tried tightening down the scope.

1 year agoBought the Patriot in .308 for elk hunting. Good rifle, reasonably light but sturdy, surprisingly accurate for a $400 rifle with a 22" barrel. I was able to shoot sub MOA groups at 100yds once I added a Vortex scope. Only questionable thing about the rifle is the bolt which operates a little loose and pops open too easily. This doesn't affect the ...Read More Read more about review stating Great entry-level rifle

1 year agoWe have a .243 wood stock patriot with vortex scope , and my son killed his first deer at 75 yards with it. That guns stock is to long for him, So I ordered him this youth model and Put a sig whiskey 3 4x12x50 scope on it. He loves it. After I sighted the wood stock gun in, I let my son shoot it, he said it recoiled about like his 410…his second t...Read More Read more about review stating Son killed first deer with patriot

1 year agoNot a bad package for a budget bolt action. Fluted bolt, fluted barrel and wood stock. Trigger is good, action is ok, fit and finish isnt the best. Don't expect a Sako and I think you'll be happy. I would choose this over a Ruger American or a Savage Axis in this price range.

1 year agoMounted my scope and was able to consistently hit the target with nice groups. Shot out to 100 yards and was pleased with the results.

1 year ago1st thing I did was lighten my trigger to 2lb. Then I glass bedded the metal free float insert to the plastic stock. I reload and stuck the bullet out as far as I could for the magazine. There is a lot of free bore in chamber. I did manage to sub MOA

1 year agoSo far the only ammo I have was Winchester Deer Season 150 Grain. My best group at 100 yds was 5 inches. I expected much better. The scope included was worthless so I used a Leopold 3x9 VariXII. I shot from a dead rest so it was either the gun or the ammo. I will try other ammo when I can get some.
