2 years agoBest hideout revolver on the market. Stoked with Hornady Critical Defense +P and it is a perfect handgun for social work. Price can't be beat and the service was great! Thanks GAG, will be doing business again.

2 years agoNice and smooth trigger pull.Single action is very lite for longer precise SHOTs.I reccomend dry firing 1000 times to break in springs and mate parts.

1 year agoNice little and lightweight gun for wife to keep in bag. Still has a pretty good punch with .38 Special +P

1 year agoThe 638-3, loaded with hornady .38 spl +p, is my EDC. I Swapped the StoCk grip out for an altamont checkered walnut baTaleur grip for extra control. The 638 is light (14 oz) and it is by far the “snappiest” handgun i own. The recoil is severe enouGh that i would not recommend this revolver to a new shooter. But if you’Ve been shooting a while and/or are not recoil sensItive, it is well worth the money imo. The trigger weight is around 12 lbs and this gun also is great for training tigger contrOl.

1 year agoI own several Smith & Wesson revolvers and carried one for thirty years as a law enforcement officer. They have always been quality guns.

1 year agoAs an owner of A model 66 & 60, I looked forward to this gun for conceal carry since it's hammerless. Aluminum shouldn't be an option for this gun. The cylinder is difficult to roll out to reload. I've done some polishing but it's still not smooth. Personally, this could be a bad situation of you need to eject and reload in a hurry. If your consider one, make sure your ok with the lack of ease when rolling the cylinder out. This gun is the S&W quality I'm use to.

1 year agoHI The gun had a bad wear ring around cylinder for it to be a new gun . It look to me like it had a couple boxes shot through it . The people said there was nothing they could do about it .That I would have to deal with the warehouse. I have not shot the two guns yet I do not know if I would honestly recommend to order or not both guns looked used .

1 year agoAbsolutely love our 638, Took a little while for the pistol to really brain but once it smoothed out and lubricated with some premium synthetic lube it darn near fires itself. The factory grips, while being extremely small for concealment truly lack much control. Grips were changed out for some very small yet able to get three fingers on it. shrouded hammer allows for single action use as well as half cocked.

1 year agogreat little gun,i added larger grips feels much better to my larger , service was great very helpful salesperson, also very good price

1 year agoThis is +P rated, only 18 ounces fully loaded, and the crimson trace helps greatly. I would not buy one without the laser TBH, as the is a close quarters and hand to hand weapon. Not to be used if you intend to shoot past 25 feet at best. Its extremely loud and quite snappy with +p, but with the right rounds like hornady critical defense, they get the job done in one. I don't feel comfortable with 380 and semi's require failure training. With a revolver just keep squeezing . This gun is not for

1 year agoThe Smith and Wesson 638 revolver is the perfect weapon to carry for self protection, anywhere. One of America’s most reliable firearm companies, you cannot go wrong with a Smith and Wesson product. The model 638 is light, compact and easy to carry, regardless if you’re a seasoned or first time owner. Accessorize or carry as it is, endless options.

1 year agoThe revolver was much nicer looking than depicted. It is is exactly what I wanted and is crafted in the superb fashion that S & W is known for. An excellent self defense weapon .

1 year agoThe S&W 638 is a high quality excellent revolver. It is light weight and very accurate. This one shoots dead on at 10 yards.

1 year agoVery pleased with this (638) j-frame snubby. IWB carry with Sticky Holster. Extremely comfortable. Can also pocket carry with this light weight revolver. Stock boot grips very concealable. Swapped out with Crimson Trace laser boot style grips. Have about 300 rounds fired with various loads with no issues. Hundreds of dry fires with snap caps. Trigger action is very acceptable. +P ammo can be fairly snappy. Buffalo Bore 158 gr. non +P LSWCHP is harsh to shoot but an excellent self defense

1 year agoGreat, lightweight, pocket carry option. I use an "FBI" load from buffalo bore, 38 special +P 158 grain semi-wadcutter hollow point, This is a simple little revolver, like any you must train with it.

1 year agoI love my S&W 638. It's light, well-made and smooth. I love the option of single-action without the worry of a hammer snagging. It definitely isn't a "beginner's gun" as it takes some practice to get good with it, but mine shoots dead on out to about 30 yards, and has been 100% reliable. If you're looking for a small concealed-carry gun, or just a really fun shooter, I recommend the 638.

1 year agoThis is the J frame you want…..snag free but still has a hammer for precise shots These little pistols are mechanically plenty accurate they are just hard to shoot as such In single action I can print about a 10 inch spread at 60yds with these guns IF I DO MY PART…without the single action option though I don’t believe that would be possible

1 year agoOf course, Smith and Wesson builds great revolvers. This is a basic gun that is pretty fool proof for newer users trained on this firearm. Unlike semi auto pistols that must always be checked for one in chamber, the revolver is evident. Reliable and reasonably safe, when used by one who has been trained with it.
