Smith & Wesson 642 .38S&W SPECIAL +P Revolver, No Internal Lock u2012 103810

I know that glock has that title, but this revolver is everything I wanted in a carry. Also best snake gun ever, try some shot and you'll be amazed at the pattern. Goes with me everywhere.

Build quality is better than the quality they have put out the past several years with their revolvers. It has a smoothe, but heavy trigger, even for a revolver. So expect the expense of a trip to the Performance Center, which makes a huge improvement. I didn't expect a Performence Center revolver out of the box, but expected it to be on par with my Ruger GP100. That's the only reason 2 stars were lost.

Very nice revolver, just purchased one without the infamous lock on it. Only five rounds, but should be enough in most situations. Fit and finish are excellent, trigger came in at consistent 11.5 lb on my timney gauge which is a little stout, but okay for a carry revolver. Also added a Hogue recoil Tamer grip, and outlined rear sight in flat black and front sight in fluorescent red (is orangish red). I use testors oil-based only as extremely durable paint. I always undercoat the color paint with one coat of flat white (oil base), let dry for two days, then two or more coats of the red.

Amazing experience from GrabaGun as always... I received my 642 and noticed it had the canted barrel issue that many people have experienced from S&W over the last decade, you'd think they would have learned by now, but alas... I sent it back it on their dime, got it back and it's beautiful, well done S&W on the quick fix. Gun is simple, reliable, lightweight and ergonomic. Easy to stash wherever and it holds 5 potent +p rounds. It's a lovely little jewel... when S&W's quality control is working...

Excellent firearm. I HIGHLY recommend a Apex trigger kit, the trigger pull and accuracy is a night and day difference over the stock springs.

I received my order on time with no problems. The pistol was just what I was expecting looking at the reviews. I'm very pleased with it so far. I polished the rebound slide on a hard Arkansas stone oiled it up and started the dry firing process with snap caps. In just a few days of doing so the trigger has gotten a lot better.

I knew what to expect with the gun. It’s small and light with a heavy trigger. But that is exactly what a stock J frame is. It shoots well, a little snappy if you’re not used to recoil. The Grab-a-gun service was excellent and fast. Definitely will buy from again. I’ve read some reviews that criticize grabagun for what the FFL charges for the transfer, which is out of their control. Do your research and ask the receiving FFL what they charge before you have the gun shipped to them, it’s pretty simple really.

Great little firearm. Handles all types of .38 S&W Special and +P ammunition equally. I am used to larger bore handguns, so recoil is not a problem for me. The trigger is a little tight, but it should work its way in after more range time. Much more accurate than me! If one is looking for a light, small carry piece, this is one to consider. GrabAGun is definitely a go-to online store for great pricing, service and delivery.

Arrived last week, I cleaned it of any oils and replaced the stock 2 finger grip with a softer Hogue 3 finger grip. The trigger/hammer pull is about 14lbs heavy (yikes!) and was going to replace the springs with some Wilson Combat and Apex kits I have handy, but as hefty as the pull felt it was smooth. Also easy to get into the S/A "valley" if need be. I built a variety of rounds for it from light to medium loads of W231 under Precision Bullets hi-tek 125's and 147's. Easy to make quick center mass shots at 5 and 7 yards, I fired off 50 rounds. Great CCW gun, for sure!

Excellent firearm. Polished the internals which smoothed the trigger pull down to 8lbs from the factory 11bs. This revolver is very light and makes for a great back up or pocket carry gun. I run it as a backup on an ankle rig or pocket and occasionally use it as a primary aiwb. Switch and Wesson reliability and performance at at a great price. I ran an entire box of Winchester Ranger, LE, .38 Special +P, Bonded, Jacketed, Hollow Point through it without a hitch! Rides well in my lightweight shorts.

I like it for concealed carry. IMO people who dont like the hard trigger r misinformed. If u need to use it to save a life youre not gonna pay ATTENTION to how hard the trigger is. Its a safety. The gun needs some trigger work, way too tight out of the box and also a better grip way too small. Both actions were taken and it is a good shooter, very easy to manage with standard rounds and match ammo.

This is a wonderful gun, especially for concealed carry, packed a heck of a punch. Stylish no hammer to get in the way. And super lightweight.
