The SD9-VE is a full sized pistol. Perfect for winter carry. You could get away with summer carry if you wear the right clothes or carry it in specific areas on your person. First Impressions - I have large hands and this gun felt great in my hand right from the start. Almost as good as a Walther and much better than holding a Glock or M&P Shield. Felt slightly better holding this than my Sig P365 with a 12 round mag...probably due to the fact that it's a full size pistol.

Its a decent firearm for the money. Factory Trigger sucks but I changed out the Trigger and a few springs so its nice better. Also it doesn't seem to like pulling the spent shells after firing, so it jams up occasionally. Very annoying for target practice

I love this pistol. It weighs nice, looks nice, and fires whatever you put through it. Mag release is right where you want it, and with the added length of the mag it feels great in my hand. I have larger hands than most. Field cleaning is a little harder than most, but you do it once and it’s cake from there. My main concerns with this pistol are the plastic guide rod, and it not being optic ready. People talk about the trigger pull being tough, but I actually appreciate it when I CC, since

I would highly recommend this pistol but I would suggest getting the available trigger and spring upgrade. It will still make the S&W a very good value but with the shorter trigger pull and the 4# vs the stock 9# pull, much easier to control.

My only complaint about this gun is the trigger. Too much take up for my taste but overall a very good gun at a great price

Nice overall. People have issues with the trigger but I’d say you’ll likely want to swap out the takedown lever. The SW default is not easy to grasp especially if surface is oily.

I bought 2 back in October 2019 because they were cheap. First one worked fine. Second one after a few shots something snapped inside and trigger would not work. S&W fixed for free. It's a nice gun other than that problem for the money.

Reviews by range marksman are stellar, fits my hand perfectly, Apex trigger mod is a blessing, very clean lines and well made. This one is a lifelong keeper for CCarry and self defense.

Had this weapon for 16 months now. Accurate, reliable, and among the most natural pointing pistols I’ve ever owned. The trigger needs some love but is not a reason to sell the gun. Not one hiccup yet, though I have only shot 420 rounds through it.

My 2016 model was very finicky on ammo until I got it passed 1000 rounds. After 15,000 rounds I sold it and bought two 2020 models. New ones act like a Glock out of the Box. They function as they should and aren't ammo picky. From Russian Steel to Name brand brass and Defense Ammo they operate as designed. The trigger pull is heavier than a Glock and other more costly pistols. I don't change anything on a Carry Pistol. If I had to use it for Defense I don't want to give the lawyers anything

I BOUGHT ONE FOR ME AND ONE FOR MY WIFE, THE CALIFORNIA VERSION. WE BOTH LIKE THE LOADED CHAMBER TACTICAL INDICATOR. JUST TOUCHING THE TOP AND WE KNOW IT IS LOADED WITHOUT LOOKING. WE HAVE SINCE ESCAPED CALIFORNIA AND NOW USE THE 16 ROUND MAGAZINES. THIS IS MY CARRY GUN AND IT SHOOTS JUST AS WELL AS MY GLOCK OR MY SPRINGFIELD OR MY BERETTA. THESE ARE GREAT GUNS AT A GREAT PRICE. WE BOTH LOVE OUR SD9VE'S. YES AS MY CARRY GUN I WOULD BET MY LIFE ON MY SD9VE. TO DATE NO MALFUNCTIONS WITH EITHER GUN, 5 YEARS NOW.

Smooth shooting pistol. Handles really well. Like the way it fits my hand. I do plan to swap out the trigger. Over all I give it a five star. But 8 outa 10.

Great looking pistol at a great price. Wish S&W would sell this with a bag or plastic box. But I understand as they sell it as a value. Works as it should.

The most reliable gun I own. Of my entire "collection", which isn't small, this gun just so happens to have out performed everything else in terms of reliability. It still, 8 years later, probably 3000 rounds of every brand and type of ammo you can imagine, has had ZERO malfunctions. Not once. Some don't like the trigger. But it's not a target gun. Too big to carry in my opinion. But perfect for bedside home defense. The trigger is built for safety. You could slam this gun against a wall,

I actually own the .40 version of this exact gun (SD40VE) and it’s absolutely amazing. I upgraded mine with a fee things like a new Apex tactical flat faced action enhanced trigger and spring kit. Along with some parts from NDZ performance (guide eod mag plates back plate and extended takedown lever) definitely recommend buying the Apex trigger kit. Overall its accurate and for the price you cant beat it. Especially for a first time gun owner. This is perfect for those who are unsure what exactly you want to go with for a first gun price reliability and quality all in an amazing firearm.
