1 year agoThis gun shoots better then I expected. I love the double bead and high rail. I took it to the range and fired a 100 rounds through it without a single problem. The recoil is almost nonexistent, My shoulder is not sore at all. Cannot wait until hunting season. I would definitely recommend this model to anyone looking for a semiautomatic shotgun. A little pricey but well worth the money. Way to go Beretta!!!

1 year agoThis is a very good gun with one minor exception. I recently purchased this and have fired approximately 100 rounds through it. Included was 25 rounds of loads with #5 shot and velocity of 1550 fps. All fired perfectly as expected except for the lightest of target or gun club loads. The all cycled the shells just fine except the bolt did not remain open after the last round. All heavier loads and even standard target loads ( 3 dram eq. or better) cycled perfectly. As my son pointed out, this is primarily a hunting gun and really not designed for light loads. Don't get me wrong, I love this gun and would buy it again. If you're going to use it for target or clay shooting, be aware that you need loads with a velocity of at least 1200 fps. It feels really nice when shouldering it and the fiber optic sight and mid bead creates a beautiful sight line. I fired it in summer time and had a light shirt on as apposed to a heavy jacket in winter. The recoil wasn't noticeable until I fired a couple of 3 1/2" waterfowl loads. Even then it was manageable. You won't be disappointed.

1 year agoI picked this shotgun up at my nearest basspro last month. After researching other brands for more than 6 months I decided to go with the Beretta A400 Xtreme plus. I was looking for a do it all gun and a once in a lifetime purchase. Im glad I pulled the trigger and got this gun. After getting it home from the store and being blown away at how the gun was packaged and presented with its case and all the extras I received I knew I had made the right choice from a manufacture that prides itself in craftsmanship in product it produces not only in the gun but in something as simple as the case. I felt like I just sat in the seat of a Aston Martin when I opened the case. As far as how the gun shoots, shoulders and feels I havent had anything more finer touch my shoulder. I purchased a case of the recommended break in shells of 1-1/8 oz shots. The manual doesn't stat on how many should be used for break in so I figured 250 rounds of it should be plenty plus 1-1/8 oz shots from this gun feel like 7/8 oz shots from a 20 gauge. Shouldering feels natural and easy to get on target especially with the raised bead rail and mid bead. I like the forward of the trigger safety. You just slip your finger back to the trigger once you click off the safety. Seems like a more fluid movement then reaching forward to the trigger like other guns. So far Ive only taken a few squirrels and about 100 clays with it. Cant wait to try it out in the turkey woods, dove fields and try my luck out with some ducks.

1 year agoI bought the Beretta A400 Xtreme a couple of years ago now when it first came out, and I have never regretted it once. It is a marvel of engineering, a fantastic piece of gear, and by far the best shotgun I have ever owned ! The gas action operates unbelievably smooth and quick - I had read about it but that doesn’t prepare you for just how incredibly fast it really is - it can literally shoot as fast as I can pull the trigger, even the heaviest 3 1/2“ loads, and that is lightning fast! I have shot loads of every size and weight through it, from light 2 3/4 clay loads to the heavy 3 1/2” duck and geese magnum loads, and this thing eats ‘em all with ease like a kid blowing through his candy bag at Halloween, eager to munch the next round!. I have have shot hundreds of rounds through this thing, not experienced one single Fail to Load, Fail to Cycle or Fail to Eject. Not one. The balance is also incredible on this thing - it’s not a heavy gun at all, but feels amazingly super light (even lighter than it is) and nimble in your hands, is super quick and responsive on the point, and combined with the ergos and lines of the gun it seems to almost naturally and automatically swing right into place and onto target. I LOVE the feel of this gun in my hands! The last thing worth mentioning is huge - the Kick-off recoil reduction system is unbelievable. I mean that just how it sounds do - you will literally not believe it when you shoot it. It is amazing. It far surpassed my expectations. Actually blew me away. When my son and I first shot it after we got it, we couldn’t believe it. There is almost ZERO felt recoil for any 2 3/4” loads. I mean ZERO. It was like shooting a .22 or maybe a .410! Dead serious. Even with the heaviest 3 1/2” loads it hardly kicks at all. It really is astounding how just how great that system works. I can shoot heavy loads all day long and it’s like carrying a .410 around with me ... You really have to experience it to believe it! Just awesome. Super easy to break down, whether for cleaning or For traveling. Beretta absolutely crushed the modular design of the firearm, it breaks into 4 pieces in about a minute, and about 2 minutes to reassemble. For real. Even my son can break it down that fast. I can’t say enough about this amazing gun. It is a lifetime gun and I will be passing it down to my son and grandson after I’m gone. It is more than worth the money. This is one of the finest shotguns ever produced. Ever. Seriously. If you’re even questioning whether you should go for it or save the dough on a budget gun, let me help: Do not hesitate for another second, do not pass GO do not collect $200 go directly to BassPro and just do it now. You will never regret it. Trust me. You’ll be as thrilled as I am.

1 year agoI bought this gun the other day and found out later that it uses a thin walled choke system which means you have to be careful with choke and load you use. On the bright side it feels great and shoots amazing. Bead is true to point of impact and it gives a good pattern with the factory full choke at 30yds with 3" #6s 1 7/8oz load.. With a gun costing nearly 1700 you would think that you could shoot anything that other manufacturers guns have no problem shooting.. Good gun for all except turkey hunter who wanna shoot magnum loads...

1 year agoBought an a400 xtreme last year. Shot TSS through a choke that was capable of handling it. Problems with the Optima HP system caused the choke to expand and cause a small barrel bulge. Not worth wasting $1700 for Beretta to tell you it is not covered and have to spend $800 on a new barrel.

1 year agoThis shotgun is an absolute blast to shoot. I have been shooting a Beretta AL391 Eureka 2 for the better part of 15 years. I absolutely love that gun and decided I wanted a gun I wasn’t afraid to take into the field. I have definitely found that in this gun. I only have one nit pick on this gun. All the Berettas I have ever seen always come in a plastic box, it isn’t much but it is part of the appeal of buying a $2,000 gun. Temper your expectations if you buy through Bass Pro, as this gun will come in a cardboard box and have no way for you to carry it around. I still rate this gun 100/100 but if you aren’t ready for it, the lack of a case is a frustrating and slightly upsetting shock. In regards to the lower recoil, it’s absolutely true. The gun shoots extremely soft. Even my mother who is getting close to 70 was able to shoot it and enjoy it.

1 year agoSmooth operating gun. Shot 9 boxes of shell on trip to Saskatchewan and didn’t have one bruise. Recoil is less which allows for quick on target second and third shot.

1 year agoI purchased this shotty about a month ago and it continues to impress. I mainly deer hunt (shoot buckshot) with it. Before you go buy an aftermarket choke be sure to shoot the factory chokes. The factory full shot a tighter pattern than any of the aftermarket chokes I tried (buck kicker, pattern paster, Carlson etc) It points well and shoots even better. I have several benelli & beretta shotguns and this one is the best yet. I switched from my SBE that I hunted with for over 20 years to this. It's just a better gun period. Don't hesitate buy yours today.

1 year agoI honestly choose this over my SBE3. I feel like it cycles much more smoothly and kicks less and it seems to hit dead on POI where I feel my SBE3 hits high. Always just feels better in the hand. It is slightly heavier

1 year agoI bought this gun last fall and had a blast with it during last duck season. I shot 3 1/2’s out of it for hours on multiple occasions and I don’t was fine. Accurate, fast cycling, no malfunctions. Definitely worth the money! I can’t say enough about this gun. If your contemplating what to get and thinking of going cheaper this gun is the one you want, don’t settle and sell yourself short!

1 year agoHard to believe you pay almost $2k and it comes in a cardboard box. What happened to the hard cases on all previous a400’s? Did business decline that much you have to cut costs that much? Treat your customer better and sell this new a400 extreme plus in a nice hard case. I was so disappointed when I picked it up. Price went up and case taken away….also no owners manual included by law.
