The A400 Xtreme Plus stock now feature a soft comb, which reduces the felt recoil imparted to the shooter’s cheek even further. The A400 Xtreme Plus features Beretta’s exclusive Steelium Plus barrels, a first for hunting shotguns providing the best patterning possible from all hunting loads, along with further felt recoil mitigation. Further drawing from the competition world, the new A400 Xtreme Plus barrel features a step rib with an integral mid-bead and fiber optic front bead in order to ensure the proper fit and sight picture for all conditions. Further enhancing the A400 Xtreme Plus is the addition of an extended charging handle and bolt release from the factory to allow for easier manipulation during the coldest and rainiest days, as well as an enlarged loading port to allow for easier loading in adverse conditions.

Just bought the A400 XP, saw a few old reviews from some forums but nothing but who knows if they are real or not.Could just benelli loving people who hate Beretta, who knows. Many said there were jamming problem every shot. Some said you need hi-brass in it, others said you need low brass in it. Some said you need the best shells money can buy to use the gun. I shot two full boxes of low end 2 3/4 shells that start with a winchest or something I got from a something-mart. The gun shot them like they were made for the gun. The recoil was a little less then a Beretta silver mallard of mine but not by a lot . Was perfect to say the least. Great little gun, cant wait until i can get it out shooting again. I have some 3 and 3 1/2 i want to run through it.

Purchsed my new A400 Extreme Plus. Brought it home and wiped down areas with cosmaline then a light coat of Lucas gun oil. I took it straight to the range to bust Clay's. I purchased some 3" magnum rounds for a possible break in. I decided to try #8 shot 11/8 , 1250 fps Winchester rounds. They cycled perfectly, then put in 2 even lower brass rounds and cycled them as well. I've read some reviews mentioning a break in period. Fortunately I did not experience that issue.

Cycles all sizes without issues combined with great features. If you are looking for a semi auto shotgun, this is the one to buy!

A little tricky at first putting it together but after reading the instructions multiple times I managed to get it done. Went to the range a few days later and am very happy with the handling when shooting a couple of rounds of trap. Looking forward to hunting season this fall.

Just bought it. Did not come with an instruction manual although it is available as a pdf. You can order the printed version on the Beretta website but they are worthless because those manuals do not show the pictures referenced by the instructions (i.e. see figure 2, there is no figure 2 etc.) Called customer service ..... "Sorry that's all we have". There is a manual available on their european website (#C62157) that Beretta USA can't find here. How ridiculous is that ! My buddie's A400 came with the manual when he bought his 2 years ago

So Disappointed

I bought this gun for my wife, which is her first shotgun for ducks. She really like the way it fit. Purchased and took to the range, which I have heard trap loads dont cycle very well. I was aware of this and yes had a few time not cycle. then onto the duck season, SAME Issues, would not cycle, then became every shot. Tried different loads and manufactures, SAME, Contacted Manufacture, said send in and get it back 6 weeks.... 6 MONTHS later after many calls, finally got gun back,, First outting, SAME thing! WAS NOT FIXED. Sent back and several calls and 3 more months, Calling more, and Finally was offered a full refund! No brainer, TOOK It and purchased a Black Eagle 3 and have not ONE issue, trap or duck and goose loads, Functions Flawlessly

I have always wanted a beretta top tier shotgun. Ever since the 391 Urika. Finally got the A400 and I'm not going to lie, just a little disappointed. You can tell it is a well made gun and the cycling is great as well as the recoil. My biggest complaint is the weight as compared to the competition. It may be because I am more of a turkey hunter than waterfowl but like I said I always wanted to get one so I finally did. I love that it's a 3.5 inch but being a turkey hunter I prefer using my ol' faithful franchi Affinity as it is much more comfortable when the Tom's make their slow strut in. The weight is just enough more to make a big difference for me. The A400 is a great gun but if at this price I should not have to think twice about what gun I want to take out in the morning and unfortunately I will. I can't wait to use it on some geese.

Best autoloader on the market. Easy on the shoulder and reliable. My son is using it PRIMARILY for skeet and sporting Clays with 1 oz reloads. Never a PROBLEM after 1200 rounds.

After months of reviewing every waterfowl shotgun on the market the decision was made to buy the best most reliable shotgun available. Sportsmans made the process seamless and enjoyable.

This gun is simply call around with the extended charging handle to the extended and very sensitive charging button. The kick off system with the hydraulic shocks for suppression of recoil it’s just simply amazing I’ve went through 300 shells yesterday and barely felt like I shot five this gun is a simple all-around great firearm
