Mossy Oak Bottomland is a pattern that has been around for a long time, because it works. Mossy Oak has revisited the classic pattern, much as Browning revisited the classic design and function of the A5. We know you’ll love it. Vector Pro lengthened forcing cone; Invector-DS choke tubes, fiber-optic front sight; Inflex Technology recoil pad plus stock adjustability with one 1/4 inches stock spacer and one 1/2 inches stock spacer, with lengthened screws for total adjustment of 3/4 inches. It all comes in an ABS case. Mossy Oak Bottomland, composite stock, recoil-operated Kinematic Drive, Hump Back aluminum alloy receiver, Fiber-optic front site, Invector-DS chokes.

Features:

  • A strong, lightweight aluminum alloy receiver
  • A barrel with a lightweight profile and a flat, ventilated rib
  • The recoil-operated kinematic drive is ultra-reliable and cycles a wide range of loads
  • the stock is composite with a close radius pistol grip and it is shim adjustable for length of pull, cast and drop

This review is on the "New" Browning A5 Hunter. Several of the reviews here are on the "Old A5 Humpback". I bought the 3" version of this gun from Bass Pro. I was told that the 3" gun would function better when using lighter 3 dram, 1 & 1/8 oz. loads then the 3.5" version. First, the fit & finish is very good; it's a Browning. Second, It functions flawlessly. After 500+ rounds of shooting clay targets & doves this last season, it "Did Not Fail" in any way. It is light, points very well & patterns dead on at point of aim. The only draw back is it's recoil. I have shot a 12 gauge over & under for the last 40+ years. If you have any concern about recoil, buy a gas operated Semi-Auto shotgun. The recoil is not over the top but it does recoil.

I bought this shotgun 2 seasons ago and have no complaints. It has cycled everything I have put through it from 2 3/4 target load to 3 1/2 BB without a single misfire. Its very easy to clean and feels great in the shoulder.

Very disappointing first trip with my beautiful new A5. Bought the gun online and picked it up at the local Cabela's. Comes with a hard case, choke tubes, choke tube case, trigger lock, instruction manual. I cleaned all the factory lube off and applied a light layer of CLP before assembling the gun. While at Cabela's picking up the new A5, My hunting partner and I bought a case of the new Blackclouds (which can be shot with any choke tube). First shot with my new shotgun and it jams...I shot a total of 15 times and had 14 jams. I'm pretty sure it's the shells, since the box of Winchesters I switched to cycled just fine; however, I'm still very disappointed and I will be contacting Browning to see if there's a solution.

Picked this up on clearance going out of business at UFA (you know...) for just slightly above a grand. I got to say this attention to detail is amazing on this gun. So amazing I bought 2, 1 for clay (wood) and one for bush (normal soft touch rubber). Takes a bit of time to get used to the hump but once you do you'll be hitting anything and everything. One thing Im not liking is the gun kicks like a mule! Using heavy target load it really has a lot of recoil. But I guess that is the case for an inertia driven gun. In comparison my mossberg 930 recoil feels like a feather. Hard to decide which one I like better. But I mean for an extra 250 I paid for this gun over the much cheaper mossberg I wasnt going to go wrong. Just be prepared to get kicked. If I paid full price for this gun it'd be a no brainer to go with the 930. But for what I paid, it made the 930 and A5 a coin toss.

I purchased the 3.5" in November. Love my SBEII and got this as a backup gun..Decided to try it so I took both guns to the blind, thank God. Browning was shot 7 times and jammed on 4.Friend bought one at the same time. Same results.

Bought this shotgun in October 2017. Took it out pheasant hunting a few times ran 2-3/4 6 shot through it with no problems. But ultimately bought it for a snow goose trip i had planned in Arkansas. Well during the hunt i put almost 2-case's 500 shells of 3" and a couple box's of 3.5" through it. I had very few problems i was running a plus 5 mag extension on it over the 4 day hunt I only had to disassemble the gun 1-time on the 4th day for some reason the bolt locked to the rear. I dropped the trigger assembly out and boom the bolt slid forward easy fix. When i got home i totally disassembled the gun removed the butt stock and cleaned and lubed the inertia spring in the stock. I highly recommend you do this when you first get the gun. Because after i did this the bolt cycled smoother than ever. My friend that has an A5 wicked wing confirmed my same thoughts he was having issues with his and did the same thing and ever since zero issue's. Overall a great gun. On the snow goose hunt all the guns had small issue's benelli's, winchesters, beretta's had a stoger's butt stock fall off. However the conditions were very dirty in layout blinds caked with mud and rice stalks. Overall very pleased with the gun and would not think twice about purchasing a second.

Before buying this shotgun I was a little hesitant due to the mixed reviews but 2 years ago a bought one to test it out for myself. I’ve discovered that this gun likes to be man handled I’ve only had one malfunction due to a bad primer and I’ve shot everything from 2 2/3 target loads to 3 1/2 BB. Also some buck shot. But the moment I let my buddy shoot it who is a lot smaller then I am the gun jammed multiple times, so I grabbed it and tested it again with no issues. Needless to say if you can’t control the beast this isn’t for you. Keep in mind I’m 6’7 270 pounds my buddy is 5’6 150.

I grew up shooting the old school auto 5 as a kid. So between that and my love for Browning products, it was a simple choice to purchase this gun. I used it for several pheasant hunts and a couple duck hunts initially with no issue. The heavier loads cycled fine but when I took it to the sporting clays range with light loads, it did have a few cycling issues which other reviewers have pointed out. I broke down my gun to clean it and used a good lubricating product on the moving parts. I wish I had done that sooner to give me more peace of mind on the sporting clays course, but lesson learned. It is good practice to break down your gun and clean it from factory anyways. This gun cycles flawlessly now, it doesn't matter if I am shooting the lightest of loads or heavy. If you are looking for an inertia driven shotgun or just a semi-auto shotgun in general, look no further.

This gun is hands down the best wing shooting gun on the market. I did have it jam when i first shot some 7.5 shot for clays. I broke it down and killed everything on it!! If you use good lubricant it will cycle with no problem. I have shot this gun now for 1.5 years and have not had a jam since the first time i shot clays with it. This gun is the only gun that i have ever had that who ever shoulders it will have the sight line up perfect with your eyes. There is no other gun like it. I put a pattern master choke in it and ducks are getting dropped at 40 yards no problem. I hunt very hard with this gun and it has gone above and beyond what i expected. Thank you Browning because my family mostly shoots browning shotguns and we have never had problems.

I Bought This gun last week and right out of the box it did not eject the shells I shot 2 3/4 number 4 shells it worked find but when I put 2 3/4 in buck shot it jammed every shot with a gun I paid 1500 dollars for I don’t want to be having problems.

I bought this gun for waterfowl hunting in the Mississippi flyway. First two shots it jammed. I’ve missed several birds because of the failure to extract/load issue. I cleaned it well and tried again this season with the same results. I decided to shoot several boxes and lube it up afterwards. I haven’t had any problems since, so this may have fixed it. If anyone has this issue, try shooting several target boxes and then lube it up before waterfowl hunting. Hopefully it works for y’all.

Grew up shooting A5s, so I was very excited to save up and purchase the new system. It jams EVERY single time. I removed factory grease and followed the the oiling instructions to the T several times over. I've tried countless different shells it either stove pipes or reloads the spent shell EVERY SINGLE TIME. I am an avid duck hunter and and spent last season shooting a 1600 dollar single shot. I love the feel of the gun but its been nothing but a headache.

I purchased this gun a few months ago. I was looking at a Beretta A 400 but bought this gun as it is a very well balanced gun. I did read the reviews espacially the one about it's stalk cracking up but decided to overlook. Big mistake. My own stalk cracked today with less than 200 shots thru the barrel and I am not using heavy shots. It is one of the best handling and balanced gun I ever had. Never had any jamming problem even with the lightest load but the poor quality of the wood lets it down. One more thing, the gun does kick but it is managable

If you are looking for an expensive single shot jam-o-matic the new A5 is for you! Take this as a warning.Browning owes me money that I lost on the trade. The new A5 is hot garbage.

Comes dry from the factory, you job is to strip, oil and lube it before taking 'er out. The whole things down every nut and bolt. Gun works fine. 5000 plus rounds. No jams. Small issue with the receiver; factory defect, browning sent a replacement. no fuss.

Was looking for an inertia gun and came across this. Nice finish, and feel. Less recoil than I anticipated. Has been a lot of fun for clays and hasn't failed me yet.

I've had this product for 1 week and the action hammer/ lever kept popping out during goose hunting in my layout blind. The dura coat scratches super easy and almost feels sticky when hunting in the rain. I like the regular synthetic stocks better... had to send it back in to Browning for the hammer. So i spent over 1500 and now i cant even use it during the season. I should have stuck with Benelli.

I have had my a5 since 2015 the finish wears off easy the safety sticks to the point where you cant get off the trigger has tons of slack has great buckshot patterns but they are always low and left jammed only with Federal shells .Sent it back to browning it doesnt jam anymore but they said it patterns in spec.Buy a Beretta A350 xtrema.
