I bought the ab3 hunter in .30-06. I got a Vortex Diamondback 3-9x40 scope mounted on it with warne high 1" rings. This setup is great and I recommend the scope. I zeroed at 100 and it has drop marks out to 400 yards. Took a few different brands of ammo to figure out what it likes. It did not like Hornady American Whitetails but in the end it likes Remington Core Lokt 150 grain PSP. Easily shoots 1" groups with this ammo at 100 yards. Punched two bullets in one hole. Overall it is a beautiful rifle and smooth I am completely satisfied with this rifle. Don't hesitate to buy if you're on a budget because it is worth it.

Recently purchased the new Browning AB3 Hunter model in 30-06 caliber. This is my 3rd Browning bolt action rifle and I can tell you it's not your typical entry level, low price point, budget rifle. I own an original A-Bolt Stainless Stalker and an X-Bolt FLD model. The wood furniture on the AB3 Hunter is nearly as nice as on the X-Bolt and although the the bolt and trigger system, along with the matte finish blueing are not as refined as the original A-Bolt and X-Bolt, they are definitely up to acceptable Browning expectations at this price point. The AB3 has the same 60 degree bolt throw, nice tight bolt with no slop even when fully open at the end of the ejection cycle. I absolutely love the bolt unlock option on the AB3 which permits the user to cycle the bolt and empty the magazine without having to take the tang mounted safety to the off position. The bolt unlock button is located directly behind the bolt handle on the AB3 as opposed to the bolt unlock button on the X-bolt which is located on the bolt itself. However, both are conveniently located and it's a feature I wish my original A-Bolt was fitted with. The barrel is the same button rifled, recessed muzzle crown type as the higher priced original A-Bolt and X-Bolt models. The AB3 barrel is manufactured at the same barrel factory in Mikuro Japan as the original A-Bolt and X-bolt. After mounting the Leupold VX-R scope and heading to the range, it only took 7 rounds to have this rifle printing 1 inch clover leaf 3 shot groups at 100 yards. This AB3 is proving itself to be the same tack driver that I've come to expect from Browning. Since it is a light contour barrel, the barrel needs to cool for a few minutes between 3 shot strings but, you won't be disappointed in the handling and accuracy of this rifle. The tigger is advertised to be pre set at the factory for 3.5 lbs. and mine breaks right at 3.8 so that is well within my requirements for a hunting rifle. The trigger break is crisp with no noticeable take up or creep. If your looking for Browning quality in a rifle that won't break your bank account, do yourself a favor and give the AB3 a look over before purchasing one of the slightly lower priced entry level budget rifles. You won't regret it!

I have been shooting high power rifles since I was 14 years old. I am now 65. I have owned many brands and many different calibers from .300 mag to .204 ruger. I bought this gun in 6.5 creedmoor and i just returned from the range. I am amazed at the accuracy of this gun. I will try and attach a pic of the target but I shot a four shot group that you could cover with a dime. Distance was 100 yards, temp 63, 4 mph wind. I used Winchester match grade ammo, 140 gr HPBT bullets. I have owned one other gun that was this accurate, a Winchester model 70 featherweight in .270. I hope this review helps someone else make up their mind to purchase this gun. You will not be disappointed. You cannot buy any other gun in this price range, or for that matter, a much higher price range that will shoot any better than this gun.

Bought this .30-06 last spring finally had a chance to use it - harvested a massive 6x6 bull elk with this gun. Rifle is super light carrying through the woods, feels good in your hands and not awkward. Bolt slides perfectly. Would recommend

I totally agree with Bogey204. When I went to sight in my new Browning 300 Win Mag, Hornaday 180 gr with a 3x9 Leopold scope, my first two shots were at 50 yards hitting a 1/4 inch left of bullseye but a quarter different so no scope adjustment was may. So I took it out to 150 yards and fired two more rounds. When I brought the target back in for evaluation I couldn’t believe what I saw- two holes in bullseye within a dime of each other-I’ve never had a rifle do this before!! Summary: Convinced and Impressed...

Put less than 10 rounds into this rifle before the entire trigger/safety system jammed up on me. Nothing I could do to fix it. Of course it happened 2 days before deer season began. Ended up having to have it sent back to Browning and I am due to get it back with less than a week left in the season. Very disappointed overall.

I bought this rifle a couple months ago. Everything went very smoothly, it arrived when they said it would. Also ordered a vortex scope and they happily mounted and boresighted the scope at no charge. Great service and a very knowledgeable staff.

We have a small farm and over the last 5 or 6 years we have got a lot more wild hogs. I bought this rifle in a 30-06 to work on the hogs. I took the rifle to the range to site it in. Starting at 30 yards with a Leupold VX-Freedom 3-9X40 1 inch scope, the first 2 shots hit the paper side by side about 5 inches low and a inch to the right of the bullseye. Made a scope adjustment and the next 2 shots were within a inch of the bullseye once again side by side. Made one more scope adjustment and was knocking on the bullseye. Moved to a 100 yards using Remington 180 grain, first shot was left of bullseye and about 4 inches low, made scope adjustment next 2 shots side by side through the bullseye. Set up a ground blind the other day and finally caught a good rain. Will be looking for some hogs as soon as it cools down a little. This was a very nice rifle and scope combination for less than a $1000 with a $50 rebate to pay for the shells. I am not worried about the rifle being able to complete the job.

It might be less expense than some of Browning's other guns but the Browning quality is still there. I enjoy this gun so much I'll probably by another one.

I expect more from a Browning product. Very poor quality wood. The satin finish is paper thin. The magazine is stacked not rotating. Bolt is very sloppy fitting despite having 3 lugs. Haven’t fired it yet. Bought it for my granddaughter as a starter rifle for her. My fault should have done more research.

The rifle is beautiful. I mounted a Vortex Scope onto my rifle with high rings. At this point I have not taken my rifle to the field but I will in the near future.

Really nice piece of work through and through. Put a nice 4-12 x 44 Vortex scope on it. Very accurate and nice recoil absorbstion. The trigger pull is smooth and crisp. After a lot of research of all the 6.5 Creedmoor rifles this one fits my needs and I am very satisfied with this purchase.
