Third generation. Originally designed by Browning family member Bruce Browning, the original civilian BAR was the rifle that set the standard for autoloading hunting rifles. The latest MK 3 version builds on the previous iterations with completely new styling, fine oil finish walnut, a precision alloy receiver and a hammer-forged barrel. The BAR features accuracy and performance that will make autoloading enthusiasts out of the most skeptical riflemen. Classic in looks and contemporary in performance. The BAR MK 3 is the hunting rifle that sets the bar for every other autoloader on the planet with accuracy and speed – and a caliber selection – that is not matched by any other hunting autoloader. The MK 3 is available in the most popular hunting calibers from whitetail hunter’s favorite 243 Winchester to the hard-hitting 300 Winchester Magnum. Cartridges are fed from a detachable box magazine, so be sure to keep a spare in your pocket for fast reloads. Autoloader with traditional walnut stock, polished blued steel barrel, engraved alloy receiver, Inflex recoil pad.

Features:

  • Satin nickel receiver finish
  • Polished blued barrel
  • Oil finish grade II walnut stock with cut checkering
  • High-relief engraving
  • Shim-adjustable for cast on/off and drop at comb
  • Inflex recoil pad
  • Drilled and tapped for scope mounts
  • Short action length

Great rifle. Smooth action with no jamming issues. Beautiful look and wonderful to shoot. Very accurate, especially for a semi-auto. A little with a scope but to be expected. Little recoil in the 30-06. Overall an absolute blast to shoot. Love it!

I've got this in a 7mm-08 and I would never shoot at a deer over 200yds. When sighting in on a solid bench rest, my best 3-shot group was 1.6" @ 100yds. The worst group was 4". I'd say the average group was right around 2". This is my first semi-auto rifle but I had a little higher expectations from Browning. I got similar results using Federal Premium Ballistic Tip 140gr and Winchester Ballistic Silvertip 140gr.

I bought a 7mm-08 in this rifle and put a meopta scope on it. The best group out of 4 different ammo makers was 3". Went on to miss 2 deer and 4 coyotes with it. It's now a look at gun in the safe!

Bought one, 308 round. I had a blast sighting it in. It takes skill to be accurate with any weapon. Those who are less satisfied, maybe you just cant shoot. But what ever helps you sleep. My wife shoots this and maintains a group or 2-3" at 300 yards.

I bought this mk 3 in 30.06 last fall for my 95lb wife she love's it. The gun does not kick and is 1 inch groups at 100 yards. This Browning is nothing but Sweet all around.

I bought this gun for my bride, for she is of small stature, I put a 4 x 12 Leopold on it, 1" at a 100yd bench. 1.5" at 200yds from rest. The best part is, I think my Ruger .22 kicks about the same recoil. Super Sweet Weapon if you can find one, they did not make many in 30.06 versions. She got 3 deer the first time hunting in Alaska, allowed 5, come on up.

Bought this gun as soon as it came out in 270 Win. Shot a lot of deer with it, never missed/injured so many either. When i first got it went through 6 to 8 different store bought loads. Nothing would pattern until I started home loading. Now I get a good pattern but with Barnes TTSX but shot placement is critical with that bullet. Went back to my Abolt and Savage 99, rather shot peep sights thank my BAR

Absolutely love the rifle. Beautiful and accurate. The auto loader and recoils pad eats much of the felt recoil so it is very comfortable to shoot! Highly recommend.

For the accuracy nay sayers it is a wood semi-auto not a composite bolt or X-bolt for that matter which are extremely accurate. This is a great gun for shorter range and throwing down a few rounds in a hurry. Great gun for the Illinois hunters who don't get out much or avid shooters secondary utility or for when their friends visit from Illinois.

I purchased few months back. Shot about 125-150 rounds through to site in scope. Dead accurate. Only negative is magazine box; It's very stubborn to pull away (take out) from hinge. Would bode well to engineer, a slip-in magazine (integral) as did Benelli Lupo rifles. other than this issue, Great rifle in operation and beauty. Really love wood furniture.
