Browning X-Bolt Western Hunter Blued/Camo Bolt Action Rifle – 280 Ackley Improved – 26in – The X-Bolt is free-floated by bedding the front and rear of the action for stability and to help maintain barrel to stock spacing for consistent accuracy. A recessed muzzle crown helps protect the rifling from damage.
The X-Bolt’s new three-lever Feather Trigger provides a clean, crisp pull with no take-up or creep and minimal overtravel.
X-Lock scope mounts feature an all new four screw per base design that replaces the traditional two screw system. The benefits are obvious, with the bases being secured at all four corners.
This recoil pad has proprietary construction and material to promote a directional deflection of recoil forces, pulling the stock comb away from your face to reduce felt recoil and muzzle climb.
The bolt unlock button works in conjunction with the top-tang safety to provide an added measure of safety during checking and unloading of the chamber.
Short 60° bolt lift is fast cycling and allows you to work the bolt quickly without the scope getting in the way.
An all new detachable rotary magazine is incorporated into the X-Bolt. Constructed from a durable lightweight polymer, the magazine is designed to feed cartridges directly in-line with the bolt.

1 year agoThis rifle is very accurate with Nosler 160gr Accubond factory ammo. I have not tried the Hornady 162gr ELD-X ammo yet as there is none to buy. Looking forward to giving that a try. My son is 13 and has a slim build and he has no problem hitting an 8 inch steel plate at 400 yds. This is definitely becoming my go to rifle for just about every hunt.

1 year agoI had asked previously about the length of barrel and got several different answers. I bought the rifle and measured it myself and it is 24" without the muzzle break which is perfect for this caliber. The model I got was the Hells canyon speed and with very little time to fine tune prior to my elk hunt, I got down to about 1" groups with the Barnes 145 LRX bullets. My opportunity for a shot came on the next to last day of our hunt - a 420 yd shot. perfect shot and perfect bullet performance.

1 year agoI think this rifle is a keeper. The fit and finish are excellent. The bolt travel is very smooth, and the magazine fits and releases well. Loading is not as bad as these kinds of mags are rumored to be. Recommend it highly. This is chambered in .280 Ackley Improved, which I believe is the best all-around caliber for NA hunting if the rifling is such to stabilize "long" bullets. Have only been able to fire .280 rounds so far, as .280 AI is currently in short supply. Consistent 0.7-0.8" 3

1 year agoThe gun arrived in perfect condition, and I couldn't be happier with it. Shoots and performs better than expected.
