Grizzly Cartridge 45-70 GoveRNment 300 Grain Wide Long Nose Gas Check Pistol Ammo, 20 Rounds, GC45/702

I bought this ammunition for my 454 Casull super red hawk because it was the only affordable ammo I could find and I couldn't have been more disappointed. Not only were velocities all over the place (all under advertised), I had TWO squib loads in my pistol out of a box of 20 and the rounds that did fire were inaccurate and were not clean burning in the slightest. I would recommend just spending the extra money on literally anything else. Even the brass was trash.

I wouldn't rely on this for bear protection in a Marlin 45-70. The wide flat nose bullet occasionally gets caught up on the top of the chamber when trying to load a round from the carrier. Easy malfunction to fix but not really a malfunction you want to experience if you're in a pinch. Marlin 45-70's can be finicky so YMMV.

Performed flawlessly. The cases were Starline, which is one of the better brands of cases out there. Zero signs of over pressure and a satisfying boom from the gun. Accuracy was good.

This shot excellently out of my Marlin 1894 and S&W 686's. Accuracy seems to be best with a 4 inch or longer barrel.
