1 year agoI bought this for home protection a month or so back. After doing thru the hassle of getting the background check and waiting period I finally got to take delivery. Went to the range a few time and watched a few videos on how to shoot it and dissemble it for cleaning. Been a while since my military days but its like riding a bike. Those skills return quickly. Great handgun, sure is an improvement over the old Colt 1911 45 cal I used to carry in Vietnam. I am impressed with this gun/

1 year agoI bought this gun a couple of months ago and it is totally awesome. Nice trigger, accurate, and just plain great! It comes with three different grips and back straps for small, medium, and large hands. The medium grips are installed by default. I swapped those for the small grips as I have small hands. Note that you will need a roll pin punch to replace the grips. So far, I've shot about 500 rounds through it with no malfunctions. This gun is worth every penny!

1 year agoConfession: I bought the VP40-B Same pistol, just chambered for the .40 Smith & Wesson. Also, the "B" means the magazine release is a push button rather than the paddle. So far I have shot 100 rounds of CCI Blazer, 50 rounds of Winchester T-Series, and 300 rounds of my own hand loads with various powder charges and either Round Shoulder or Flat Point bullets in 180 and 155 grains. Zero failures. If you don't see this one in Bass Pro's inventory, call your local store and ask.

1 year agoShot about 300 rounds of 47 grain American ammo as recommneded for the break-in. No failures. I see no one has mentioned the trigger, it's a crisp 4 lb, with a short reset. It feels like the trigger on my Buckmark UDX. I found that I could shoot very tight groups at 15 yds. I feel totaly confident in relying on this gun for home defense.

1 year agoThis is not only handsome to look at but I can actually work all of the mechanics. I tried probably 15 different handguns before I worked my way back to this. I have very long fingers with a good sized palm and it just feels like it belongs in my hands. The magazine release is mounted on the trigger guard as a lever which makes it so easy to use. This was also one of the only slides I was able to move without much difficulty. This is a quality piece that deserves the 5 star rating.

1 year agoI emailed H&K and Trijicon. Both companies don’t offer a mounting plate for the Trijicon RMRcc optic (the RMR optic is different). Both companies expressed no plan on providing one in the future.

1 year agoThis is not my first HK, my previous experience with the USP45 was great, but this VP9 even better, i love it straight out of the box shoots perfect and feels perfect with minimal recoil, the paddle magazine release not problem, the sights very visible with 17rd magazine you can't go wrong.

1 year agoI was torn between 4 stars and 5 stars. This is not my best 9mm handgun. I have several that have better triggers and ergonomics, but this is nearly the best one that I have in this price range, so I gave it 5 stars. It does group well and has a pretty good trigger. The ergonomics are about average for me. So far it has been reliable, but I haven't shot it much and I have only put 115 grain ammo through it so far. I haven't put an optic on it, but the factory sight is pretty good and the gun was nearly sighted in from the factory. The front sight is very visible, but a little large for me. I got it on sale for $699 and I would say that makes it a good value since it is an above average handgun.

1 year agoSo glad I went with this handgun instead of the other one being considered. Absolutely outstanding, if not almost perfect, handgun. The trigger is absolutely superb. It feels more like a single-action, as opposed to the typical striker-fired polymer handgun. The sights are fantastic and love the ergonomics. The stipling feels good. Put 170 rounds downrange first time out and it felt great from the first round. Used six different brands/types of ammo, including +P, and no issues. I cannot recommend this handgun enough. Never shot a handgun so well on my first outing with it.
