Mossberg 510 Mini .410 Bore Pump Shotgun, Black – 50358
Celebrating their 100th birthday, Mossberg reminisces on their humble beginning in 1919. Mossberg began with a simple, but ambitious, dream of manufacturing durable and reliable firearms that the working class could afford. The founder, Oscar Frederick Mossberg, a Swedish immigrant, knew the difficulty of this task but he was determined to make his dreams come true and 100 years later Mossberg is still manufacturing durable, reliable, and affordable firearms.
The Mossberg 510 Youth Mini Super Bantam is a member of their line of All-Purpose Field shotguns. This .410 bore pump shotgun was designed with youth shooters in mind. The ez-reach forends are located closer to the receiver and the innovative super bantam stock spacer system is designed to grow with your young shooter. The 510 mini also has a reduced trigger-to-grip distance making it perfect for smaller hands, as well as a highly visible, top mounted safety switch for safe gun handling. Mossberg is one of the industry’s strongest advocates for promoting safe, enjoyable youth recreational shooting.

2 years agoBought this gun for my wife spring of 2013. She is under 5 feet tall and less than 100 lbs. She loves to shoot but the only shotgun she would attempt was my old single shot bolt action .410. This little Bantam .410 mini is perfect for her. We tried the different butt plates until she found one that fit her best. After just a few rounds she was knockin' "em down like a pro. She uses this gun for fun as well as home defense. I can't say enough about the staff at Bass Pro. This gun was not in stock at our local store so they had one shipped in without any commitment from us. Excellent help with teaching her the operation of the gun. When I asked about pattern size and using this gun for close range home defense they took the time to explain it to HER suggesting that for home defense the gun would be better with a cylinder barrel. They even suggested a local gunsmith who could convert it to interchangeable chokes like the big bore expensive guns. This gun fits our needs perfectly, shoots flawlessly, and the Bass Pro service was excellent. PS: Another local chain store sells this gun for $50 less but did not have one in stock. I asked them to order one in for me to look at. They told me they had no control over what came in to their store therefore they could not do that. I wasted 3 months waiting for this gun to come in. I should have gone to Bass Pro first. PRICE IS NOT EVERYTHING!

2 years agoWe won a .410 Mini in a raffle. I had looked at them in the store and thought it was a perfect 'starter' shotgun for my younger kids. My oldest daughter started with a Remi 20 guage at 15 years old and quickly did well with clays and upland birds. I was apprehensive about starting the younger kids with a shotgun. I took the 9 year old twin girls to the range (they'd never shot more than a bb gun), and they were comfortable with it and shooting well right off the bat. It was a little heavy for my 7 year old boy to keep under control, but the girls are now hooked. The size and weight are good for younger shooters, and the action is easy for them to handle (easier than the Red Ryder). Ammo is a little pricey and not much selection, but it's around.

2 years agoI bought this gun for my son, for hunting upland birds , and rabbits. I even use this gun for upland birds. we have the 410 version, and the only thing that could of made it better would of been a choke system instead of a fixed mod.

2 years agoI just bought this gun for my 11-year-old son and Took it sporting clays. He did great for his first time shooting a shotgun and it fit Him perfectly. I would recommend light 20 gauge loads as they still kick pretty good. Only complaint is the safety is a little stiff but we'll see if that breaks in with time

2 years agoI bought this gun for my ten-year-old in a 410 about a year ago. Nice gun fits him perfectly, works well for shooting clays but it has lots of issues drawing shells from the tube. 8 out of 10 times it won't chamber the second shell. Basically we have to use it as a single shot. In the end I spent the extra money and bought him a Browning bp's micro midas.

2 years agoAs a brand new gun it didn't pull shells out of the tube properly so I sent it back. They adjusted it and then it worked better but not perfectly. I would spend my money on something with better quality and reliability

2 years agoBought the 20 gauge version. I wanted a short, light, handy shotgun for grouse and also one my wife could shoot. All worked out great. But is this for a 6-8 year old? Well, it's still a shotgun. For younger children, maybe go with 410. Age 10 and up, probably ok with 20 gauge. Otherwise, great shotgun.

2 years agoBought this for my son, accurate, reliable, cycles shells nicely, it makes an ultimate survival gun due to its size and weight, we have shot everything from slugs to shot, use it primarily for upland birds with #4 shot, fits nice on a pack or in the box of a quad, it is becoming better with age as it breaks in

2 years agoThe .410 model DOES NOT hold 3+1 shells. I consulted mossberg and it is only 2+1. The 20 gauge is the one that does 3+1. My 8 year old (9 next week) found the kick strong but not over bearing. He usually shoots .22's so this is a bit different. I also thought that it shoots really well, on target and lots of power. I would recommend it for sure for young kids.

2 years agoMossberg quality. Check. First things first, it has all the quality of a mossy 500. It does fit three 2 1/2" or two 3" shells in the magazine and one more in the chamber. This is not just a kids gun, but can also be a good shotgun for the older person with arthritis. Or maybe someone that is hitting so many clays that they are looking for the next challenge, hitting them with about half the pellets. Or a home defense shotgun, with its short barrel and length of pull this will easily fit places that a 28" barrel bird gun will not. Not only is the length of pull short, but the fore end is closer as well. The dual bead on the vent rib is nice, don't have that on our other shotgun. It may require a bit of break in, the action can be stiff at first when cycling the first times. Disassembly, cleaning and reassembly are not too difficult, and the instructions are clear.

2 years agoGun works great, as usual for Mossberg. It cycles the shells just fine (assuming quality ammo) and shoots straight. I saw some reviews where some people saw it wouldn't cycle the second shot, but I'll bet a dollar to doughnuts that it was due to these guys not performing a proper cleaning out of the box. Too many times I've seen guys who think cleaning their guns is not necessary, but the "intial cleaning" is seriously important. Clean your gun, and this one will just fine!

2 years agoThis gun fit my 8 year old son perfect! He is a little small for his age all the youth models was to big for him this mini was perfect. Coupled with some Winchester AA low recoil loads this is a great package for him.
