I don't understand why people hate this gun. I've read, "Gun is ugly"; since when are guns supposed to be pretty? Hope to God I never have to use it but if need be - I'm know some perp is not going to say - 'oh man did you have to shoot me with such an ugly gun'. With the money you save, you can afford “pretty” bullets. "Gun is heavy" - if 30ozs is heavy to you - time to hit the gym. The weight reduces the recoil too. My wife who is 5'4", a buck 30 soaking wet doesn't think this gun is too heavy. I have put 200 rounds of Federal 9mm Luger 115 grain FMJ and not one FTF or FTE. This firearm is a great bang for your buck. I purchased the C9, extra mags, a bag and 200 rounds of ammo and it was still cheaper than the next priced (non-HP) 9mm gun. HP’s are made in the USA and come with a life time warranty.

Used WPA ammo ... jammed about once every magazine, even using 3 different magazines. Company sent me a new firing pin assembly (this should not have been necessary for a new gun). After that I tried Remington ammo... jammed once in about 60 rounds. No matter what ammo I use, the slide sticks about 15% of the time what I cock it. Definitely not reliable enough for self defense. I wish I had spent a couple hundred more and gotten something that was really reliable.

Let's be honest, you're looking at this pistol because of the price. I bought it because of the price. Boy, was I satisfied with my purchase. The gun shot whatever I put through it. No jams, no failure-to-feeds, nothing. Just shot great and accurately. I has purchased the carbine last year. Both the magazine it came with and the one I purchased from Cabela's had double-feed issues (nose-up). I bought a magazine straight from their factory (off their website) and had no problems. And that's it. The only problems you'll ever have with Hi-Points are the magazines. Sometimes the feed lips need to be pushed a tiny bit into position. That's another thing. Hi-Point has the best warranty you could ever ask for. A life-time warranty regardless of whether or not you're the first or third owner. However, I've been waiting over two weeks for my fixed magazines to return in the mail, but I think that's the postal service's fault since they fixed the magazines and shipped them back within a week. OVER ALL: Amazing gun, accurate and reliable. I recommend Herter's (Selleir & Bellot), or Fiocchi. I'll most likely buy another because they're so dang cheap.

After reading reviews from many sources, I bought the Hi-Point in the .45 ACP. I too thought it was a cheap gun and in the category of the old Raven .25 & Jennings .22. The old ring of fire guns. After talking to some folks who have this gun, I went to our local store and bought it. I bought a couple of boxes of 230 Grain Hard Ball ammo and went to the range. Straight out of the box, I found this pistol to be accurate, not one misfire or stovepipe. I used a well known quality brand of ammo with brass. I have a few other brands of pistols and revolvers in different calibers and all function as intended. I also paid a lot more for them too. In my opinion, this gun could look better. It is heavier and certainly not a concealed carry gun unless you are over 400 lbs and wear baggy clothes. This gun is a great outdoors and camp gun. It is accurate and is rated to + P. For people who want a great home protection gun as well as a solid everyday shooter, this is the fun for you. Whether on a limited budget or well to do, I believe this is the best gun for the money and functions just as well as guns costing hundreds of dollars more.

I purchased the Hi-Point .45 after Christmas. I did research before I bought it, including talking to other Hi-Point owners. I went to the range and fired 50 rounds with no misfires, jams, or ejection issues. My groups were all in the 8 circle from 10 yards out. This was the first time I had fired a .45 and I loved it. I also had my 9mm and fired the same amount through it. The recoil of the 9mm was more than the .45 due to the weight of the Hi-point. My wife and daughters could fire this gun with ease. I am most impressed with it and will be buying another in the future.

I can not recommend this weapon. For the price, you can't beat it, but for the function of the weapon, its bad. Watch the many u-tube videos on this weapon. Till the problems are fixed, stay away..

Bought 9mm and was a bit Leary of the price per quality issue. Bought 3additional mags and Took it out today. First mag inserted was a bought one. The bullet would not load, went thru remaining and same issue. Got to the one that came with weapon and it worked. Put 200 rounds thru it after this and did not have any problem since the first failure to load. Acurate to a fault from 25 to 50 ft. Gun must have needed to be broken in to us the other mags. Very satisfied with this purchase

I recently got some range time with my new Hi-Point 40 mm, and I was really surprised and impressed. This gun is deadly accurate and great fun to shoot with absolutely no problems. I have a couple other name brand guns that cost me three times what this gun did and I know that they shoot no better than this gun does. What a great buy!!

I own the 9 mm and just purchased the 40 S&W. Both shot perfect and accurate right out the box, I own other brands as well. Hi- point is a great value firearm.

My old hands will not rack the slide. It's way too tight for me to even consider using. Rack the slide with major difficulty and can't release it. Swapped it for a Walther PPS M2 which I love. Bob

Hi-Point 9mm pistol is a little bulky but honestly is really good for the price. It work has a good set of sights already on it, and is consistent. I did not have the slide jams that others had reported. Perhaps Hi-Point has worked those out. I am pleased with the piece. The knife is great added bonus.

Yes, this pistol is low cost. Yes, it is not the most beautiful item in my gun cabinet. However, it fired a box of 50 rounds of Remington 9mm right out of the box, flawlessly. Due to the weapon's heavier weight, it has low recoil so an added bonus to get you back on target faster. I really like this pistol and would recommend to anyone. This is my fourth pistol purchase.

At the time, the pistol came in a case with one of the sharpest little knives for $99. Since purchasing the Hi-Point C9 package, my single biggest regret is that I didn't by more than one. I've put regular target 9mm through it as well as +P and NATO; I've shot brass, aluminum and steel cases....not one dud. The only time that I had an issue was when I tried using my 10 round mags from my Hi-Point carbine. The mag fit is pretty sloppy; that being said, when I pulled the bottom of the mag to the back and held it, there were no further issues. I'll be looking to see if someone created a slip-on adapter for this purpose. As for the look of the pistol, it doesn't have a lot of doo-dads sticking out of the bottom of the receiver and the sides (except for the slide release) like my other pistols. With a little polishing, it will be a nice smooth pistol. It's too thick for summertime concealed carry (and at about 2 pounds, too heavy for in the waistband anyway). However, for a backup truck gun, it's perfect. As for accuracy, on a fifteen foot range, put every round inside the circles on a small silhouette target right out of the box. At the end the day, even without considering the price, who could ask for more?

I was at the Grandville, MI Cabela's to purchase a hat and stumbled across the Hi-Point .45. I was admittedly a bit of a snob myself, but had read some pretty positive feedback on Hi-Point products. I'm not law enforcement, just a casual shooter gun nut and for the price I felt I couldn't go wrong, Boy did I hit a home run with this one. It may not be the sleekest, lightest model available, but there are some positives to that as well. I actually like the weight, it really keeps it on target. I'm pretty sure I shoot more accurately at speed with this gun than any of my other large caliber ones. Recoil is much less than my 1911 I took it to the range without cleaning it first, more as a test than anything. I had a couple of FTL's out of 50 rounds that resolved with a light tap on the bottom of the magazine. I put my 300th round thru it today and have had next to no issues. I think my initial jams were due to the magazines needing use. It has a nice trigger action and I have found it to be very accurate. Take down is a bit cumbersome compared to some of my other models, with the pin you have to tap out, but other than that I can't find a single fault with this weapon. I love shooting it and is probably the best hand gun purchase I have every made. I will gladly purchase another Hi-Point in the future. As an added bonus, it's made in the U.S.A.

This a beast of a handgun. It is also a functional, rugged, surprisingly great value given its low price. Its appearance has a definite industrial aesthetic - it is not "pretty" - and it is heavy, but well balanced. I have big hands and it holds and handles well for me; smaller hands may have a challenge with it. In .45 ACP, the weight and bulk of this gun seems to absorb and diminish much of the recoil, it doesn't "hit" as hard as other large caliber semi-autos I have fired that had lighter frames. It was fairly accurate right out of the box with FMJ ammo, a little tweaking had it holding pretty good groups at 25 yards. No ejection or misfire issues after 60 plus rounds. The slide is stiff and chambering a round takes some effort, and stripping it down to clean is a little more involved. It is also definitely not a concealed carry weapon, but that is not why you should buy it. These are the only things that keep me from rating a full 5 stars. Great low cost, entry level option for someone getting started or wanting a secondary home defense sidearm that packs a wallop. Good value for the money.

Haven't had a chance to try it out. But it is very well made, and made in the USA. Case is nice and the knife is very nice. Will write more after I get to try it out. The price is right too.

here is my unprofessional review of the 9mm, it is heavy compared to other fancy expensive pistols, not good for conceal & carry cause everybody gonna see it bulging out your side, fired about 100 rounds with it so far and some ammo does make the slide stick but maybe I should clean it once in a while...when working with the right ammo it will shoot true on every shot.....I like it
