Whether you define “competition” as formal practical shooting matches or the quest for bragging rights among your circle of friends at the shooting range, the new VP9 Match OR can take you to the next level. It’s the latest, greatest tool from HK for vanquishing the competition.
In addition to the class-leading ergonomics and trigger feel that made the VP9 the best-selling HK pistol ever, the VP9 Match OR is extra in so many ways.
The O-ring bushing on the extra-long 5.5-inch barrel tightens up the lockup for extra accuracy and consistency. Additionally, the machined optics cut accommodates most popular red-dot pistol sights with one of five available mounting plates (sold separately). The 20-round extended magazines give you an extra three rounds over standard VP mags, allowing you to shoot more and reload less on long stages.

1 year agoHaving an affliction for HK firearms, I was gratified when HK announced the VP9 Match. I set the bar pretty high for the VP9 Match, having 9mm Elite and Expert USP models it’s an easy comparison in terms of the HK collection. First, the longer slide is expertly machined and the cuts keep it from excessive weight and they certainly avoided any front-heavy off-balancing. Obviously, a longer slide equates to longer sight radius - a must-have for a match-grade pistol. Second, the barrel is 5.50”, o-ring lock-up at the muzzle, polished where it interfaces with the slide, and the chamber block appears to be fitted to the breech face (like the Expert and Elite). HK’s German website refers to the barrel as “precision”, meaning it is has some degree of additional attention than standard barrels in the VP9 series. Breaking down the pistol reveals a “red spring” which may very well be a 15lb spring (lighter, and was in the original VP9 before the VP40 18lb spring was added) which along with slide weight, leaves the pistol cycling smooth and soft. The Striker has a blue colored spring, not typical for the VP9 series, this may be a lighter spring but can’t find any details from HK. Lastly, the striker itself appears to be stainless steel vs treated steel in the other VP9 series pistols - perhaps this is slightly lighter but certainly easier to keep clean. EuroOptic had the paddle release model available and owning 32 HK pistols, all with paddles and training with paddles, this was important. EuroOptic always has HK firearms either in-stock or ordered so purchases are fulfilled quickly. Outstanding pistol.

1 year agoThe other gun that I have that is striker fired is the Walther Q5 Match Steel Frame. There is much less felt recoil in the Walther. I do like the 20-round capacity magazine, and they do give you 4 magazines with the gun. I shot it today for the 2nd time and it performed better than the first time I used it. It is an accurate gun.
