Built to be an ideal first gun for young shooters, the Scout has a short 12 inches length of pull. With simple leaf rear sight and blade front (rear adjustable for windage, front for elevation), learning the basics of sight picture has never been easier. 11mm dovetails on the receiver make adding a scope a breeze. 457 Scouts have a muzzle that’s threaded 1/2-28 TPI, allowing for hearing-safe shooting without the need for muffs or plugs. Adding a larger stock is easier than ever once kids outgrow the short length of pull, as all 457s use the same stock inletting (with two barrel channels specific to standard and varmint-weight barrels). The entire 457 platform is modular, meaning swapping different barrels/chamberings or stocks is done quickly and easily with only a few tools. If we were to pick one thing that our previous rimfire platforms were lacking, it was an American-style push-to-fire safety – something Hunter’s Education instructors and 4-H shooting coaches have begged us to incorporate for years. Though that was the most obvious change, we also took the opportunity to tweak a load of small things at the same time. In addition to the receiver-mounted, push-to-fire safety, we chopped almost an inch of length from the action and slab-sided it to reduce its footprint and weight. The stamped bottom metal of the 455 is gone, swapped for a classy 2-piece interlocking system. To make scope fitment easier, we ditched the 90 degree bolt rotation in favor of 60 degree, allowing for larger ocular bell diameters with lower ring heights. To top it all off, the 457 now features a trigger adjustable for weight, creep and over-travel.

2 years agoReliable functioning in my Walther P5 as a CCW service round, Should also work well in the old P38 pistols from late WW2. Neither of these pistols will reliably function with hollow point ammo due to military feed ramp design steep ramp suited for hardball ammo reliability. This Magtech round simulates contour of the hardball FMJ round while offering on target expansion.

2 years agogreat rifle, had a bit of a let down because Sportsman's incorrectly advertises as 5+1 capacity when it only comes with single shot mag. however the laminate model is labeled correctly. add the mag and now its a $400 gun. worth it but just an unexpected expense.

2 years agoAwesome little rifle. Light and fun. Accurate. I did have to do some woodworking to make the stock adult size. I left 4 stars instead of 5 because it came with a single shot magazine instead of the 5 round that was advertised.

1 year agoThis is an awesome rifle, super accurate and super fun. I mean it's small for adult as this is for children, but I actually like it more than my big ones because it is accurate, light and quiet. I can hit the dot from 25 yards old with the iron sight and my vision is not good. I do have a slight complaint. The wood ends up to be much darker than the picture. I think it is actually more expensive wood, but I am not going to lie, I prefer the look of the light wood.

1 year agoFantastic little rifle. Reminds me of an m1 carbine in size. I instruct boy and Girl Scouts and this rifle fits the bill for many of the smaller. I replaced the rear sight with the CZ aperture sight and it makes a world of difference. Due to the new placement of the bolt the Williams sight did not properly fit unless placed completely forward of the bolt. Got one directly from CZ in Chekoslovakia and it only took 6 days. Shipped by UPS. Ordered it on Wed. Went cz to Germany to Kentucky to

1 year agoRunning a can and shorts with the single shot adapter….it’s truly silent. Click goes the firing pin, pop as the round hits the target. At $50 less than my Ruger American rimfire with stainless threaded barrel, it’s a FAR better value. Adjustable trigger weight, take up, and over travel on the CZ, vs only pull weight on the silly bladed Ruger trigger. And the CZ has excellent iron sights, while the Ruger has none. Yes, it’s a short stock…because it’s a compact gun. At 5’8”, I have

1 year agoBought this for my daughter (wink wink). Excellent build quality and very accurate. Took her out along with my daughter for a range session and my daughter approved. We both love the rifle and I would definitely buy again if there is a need to.

1 year agoEasily the best feeling .22lr I’ve ever felt. I have JM Marlin model 39s that shoot and feel good but nothing like this! The only bolt action .22lr bar none.

1 year agoI've bought four of them in five months. Two Scouts, one LUX and now a Synthetic. All in .22lr You won't find a better quality or more accurate rifle for the money.

1 year agoI have 5 CZ 457s. For the money, they are the most accurate and reliable firearms . They are built like the Rock of Gibraltar and can be handed down from generation to generation; they are that good

1 year agoI’ve only used the website once, but the gun was promptly delivered. I’ve also only shot the gun at one tournament so far. It took just the first target to get in line and then it was off to the races! I hope I’m not getting ahead of myself, but really looking forward to shooting in the tournament tomorrow.

1 year agoThe body color is nothing like on the website and the barrel is not stable. It moves around and detached to the body.

1 year agoBeautiful looking rifle. Nice fit and finish. Have not shot it yet so can’t comment on that. Bolt is a little stiff so hopefully it’ll move more smoothly after some use.
