2 years agoto start with this is an excellent gun for the price point ... but one of the first things I did was purchase a boyds pro varmint stock to replace the "terrible" synthetic one that it comes with .. I then decided to have it pillared /bedded by a respected gunsmith in the area .. we discussed how I wanted certain things done regarding the plastic magazine well and he assured me once he was through the gun would be rock solid .. I hope to have the rifle back in the next week or so and will provide … Read More

2 years agoTook hours to clean the barrel before I even shot this rifle. Terrible trigger!!! Wont adjust below 3.5 lbs. Terrible amount of creep!!! Stay away from this rifle. There are better budget rifles out there.

2 years agoI am very pleased with the gun, even though I have not shot it because I know mossberg is a great brand. I cannot give a review at this time until I have had a chance to go out and shoot. The vortex scope from my research is one of the good ones and hopefully it will complement this gun.

2 years agoUPON INSPECTION RIFLE FIT AND FINISH WAS GOOD. ACTION WORKED NICELY AND ALTHOUGH TRIGGER HAD A NICE PULL WEIGHT WAS SOMEWHAT GRITTY. STOCK FIT WAS GOOD AND OF FAIR QUALITY. FOR PRICE POINT QUALITY WAS BETTER THAN SOME HIGHER PRICED RIFLES.

2 years agoPros: 1) LBA trigger, as received set at 2lbs 4oz; 2) Ceracote finish; 3) Accuracy, after 5 shots for sight in, fired five 3-shot groups with Hornady match 147 gr ELD (only ammo I could find right now), all groups sub MOA at 100 & 200 yards, two groups 3/4 MOA; 4) Threaded muzzle is square to bore and shoulder is large enough for solid suppressor mounting; 5) Detachable magazine feeds properly; 6) Price, best option for trying out 6.5 PRC; 7) Includes Weaver rail. Cons: 1) The stock, Strata

2 years agoBought the Patriot in .308 for elk hunting. Good rifle, reasonably light but sturdy, surprisingly accurate for a $400 rifle with a 22" barrel. I was able to shoot sub MOA groups at 100yds once I added a Vortex scope. Only questionable thing about the rifle is the bolt which operates a little loose and pops open too easily. This doesn't affect the ...Read More Read more about review stating Great entry-level rifle

2 years agoWe have a .243 wood stock patriot with vortex scope , and my son killed his first deer at 75 yards with it. That guns stock is to long for him, So I ordered him this youth model and Put a sig whiskey 3 4x12x50 scope on it. He loves it. After I sighted the wood stock gun in, I let my son shoot it, he said it recoiled about like his 410…his second t...Read More Read more about review stating Son killed first deer with patriot

2 years agoNot a bad package for a budget bolt action. Fluted bolt, fluted barrel and wood stock. Trigger is good, action is ok, fit and finish isnt the best. Don't expect a Sako and I think you'll be happy. I would choose this over a Ruger American or a Savage Axis in this price range.

2 years agoMounted my scope and was able to consistently hit the target with nice groups. Shot out to 100 yards and was pleased with the results.

2 years ago1st thing I did was lighten my trigger to 2lb. Then I glass bedded the metal free float insert to the plastic stock. I reload and stuck the bullet out as far as I could for the magazine. There is a lot of free bore in chamber. I did manage to sub MOA

2 years agoSo far the only ammo I have was Winchester Deer Season 150 Grain. My best group at 100 yds was 5 inches. I expected much better. The scope included was worthless so I used a Leopold 3x9 VariXII. I shot from a dead rest so it was either the gun or the ammo. I will try other ammo when I can get some.
