2 years agoI bought this shotgun for shooting clays a few months ago. After about 5 or 6 trips, the fore-end became disconnected from the action. It turns out that there are two steel pins that hold the plastic hand guard attached to the action bars (used to rack the action). The holes in the plastic handguard had become worn out a bit, I suppose, resulting in the steel pins walking their way out from either side. I was lucky to find them in the dirt. At home I took the shotgun apart, and then put it back together along with the pins. I then racked the shotgun manually, and found that after 5-10 pumps, one or both pins will walk out again. If you contact Mossberg, they'll fix it for free (after you ship the shotgun to them), but the new part will fail in the same way later. The long-term solution to this is to replace the fore end with the steel parts from the Mossberg 590, at a cost of about $100. This puts me at well over $450 for this shotgun. I could've bought a 590 for that and had plenty of money left over. I don't recommend this shotgun at this price. Maybe $250 tops, given that it's a bit better than the Maverick 88 in terms of construction.

2 years agoNothing but problems. Ejector broke, gun would not feed shells, bolt assembly broke, and forearm detached/broke away from slide rails. This gun has been returned to Mossberg 4 times with less than 500 rounds through it. In .410, the Mossberg 500 is a cheap and poorly made firearm.

2 years agoI purchased a Mossberg 500 about a month ago. It is exactly what I ordered and operates perfectly. I also bought supplies and an accessory or two and am happy with my overall expirience at Bass Pro!

2 years agoBought this shotgun about 2 months ago on the Bass Pro website. The order came in 3 days later. Backround check took less than a week. The whole process was super easy and speedy from start to end. Love the shotgun and the price!!

1 year agoI purchased this shotgun about 2 and a half years ago hoping to be able to finally hunt upland birds and waterfowl on my own without bugging my ol man. I was never able to down any birds with this shotgun despite having my aim on point, and the last time I attempted to clean and re-assemble the shotgun, the PLASTIC trigger assembly would not seat in properly, which I couldn't immediately notice, when I racked the pump to check if it was working properly, the trigger assembly cam pieces were sheared off completely from being made of cheap plastic. I don't know who's brilliant decision it was to make a plastic trigger assembly lock into a metal receiver. I've maybe fired about 100 shells through it.

1 year agoBest shotgun I ever owned. No regrets with the purchase. Safety gets a bit stuck but it loosened up after a long day shooting clays and cleaning. Forend is a bit wobbly because of the plastic configuration, but the action cycles flawlessly. It had issues extracting Fiocchi shells but it cycled everything else I ran through it.

1 year agoI purchased the gun a few months back and have had it out a couple of times. Gotta say, I love the safety feature on this gun. I've let my kids take a few shots, and the "Red is Dead" quote, coupled with the easy to use and see safety made it much easier for them to be safe. I wish the Mossberg Maverick 88 had the same safety - I'd buy one for my boys in a heartbeat.

1 year agoI’ve had my .410 for a several years now. It’s been 100% reliable and a pleasure to shoot. The finish is holding up well and it still looks like new. What more can you ask for?

1 year agoI've had my 410 gold trigger for 25 years now, still just as reliable as the day I took it out of the box.

1 year agoVery Good Gun For The Money I have the Mossberg 500 FLEX pump shotgun 12 gauge Mossy Oak, and I'm VERY satisfied with it. It's an extremely tough shotgun, a real workhorse. It has the Mossberg tang-mounted safety that I prefer as this was my first firearm and I am used to this design than the ones on the trigger guard, the optics make it better for me to be quicker on target acquisition, the open loading port makes for easier access to the magazine and reloading. The shotgun dismantles for cleaning with ease, but pay attention so it goes back together just as easy. It's noticeably lighter, and it has dual action bars and dual extractors, the factory recoil pad is really great, and the porting on the barrel makes for lower felt recoil and less muzzle jump for faster follow-up shots. I have owned this for several years now and have put at least 10,000 rounds through it. It is still going strong! The tooless key system make it really easy to swap out the conventional but stock for a more tactical one. 5 0ut of 5!

1 year agoExactly what I expected. Took it trap shooting the day after I got it. Shot 50 rounds through it with no issues. Great quality for the price!

1 year agoFit and finish of the butt stock is god awful. Way too much material left on the left side where it meets the receiver. I bet there is a full 8-10mm of overlap beyond the edge of the receiver. I will be pulling the wood off and refinishing and refitting it properly. I don't expect that price point to be super grade or anything but CNC technology being what it is should guarantee even a budget piece of wood is milled to a consistant tolerance.

1 year agoNice shotgun, this is my first, so nothing to compare it to, but seems to be well built, and works as advertised.
