1 year agoMy first .22LR. Will put mini mags, browning 40 grain, federal bulk and Winchester bulk all MOA or better. The eley club, federal gold medal and the cci high velocity stingers shot even better. Most accurate out of the box .22lr on the shelf. The only thing comparable is the TC .22 precision rifle 10/22 clone.

1 year agoI picked up my riffle took it to the range the same day. After 6 shots the firing pin broke. Not sure when ill get it back from savage, but I did some research on this riffle and it seams that it's a common defect for the retaining pin to break. I should've bought a different brand.

1 year agoI bought the A22 precision on Boxing day. I coupled if with a Nikon scope and 25 round butler creek mags. came back on Wednesday to have Cabelas mount my scope. Got to the range and laser bore sighted it to 50 yards. I was very impressed. I was plinking quarter sized groups at 100 yards. I couldn't be happier, the mags works just fine, tip: always slow down don't be rammy when loading the magazines and you'll feed just fine. I did several mag dumps for fun and it worked flawlessly.

1 year agoI tried this gun with Federal Bulk CCI Blazer CCI velocitor and CCI stinger and I had nothing but misfires, I have never been more disappointed in a new gun, buy something else don't waste money on this garbage.

1 year agoBought this with intentions of having a nice gopher management device and I think it'll fit the bill. Vortex 3-9x50 optics at I was near zero at 75 yards after mounting, without a bore sight! Very impressed! 200 rounds through the 25rd butler creek mags with cci tac ammo with one misfire. Insane out of the box performance!

1 year agoI bought this rifle 2 months ago. Firing match grade ammo had average groups of 2 inch or larger at 50 yards. After 10 to 15 rounds groups would get larger. This weapon has a barrel which seems to have standard chamber for all general ammo. This rifle wasotal disappointment as a precision rifle. My CZ 457 has 1/4 inch group at 50 yards. I gave up on the rifle and sold it. not worth the money

1 year agoBought this brand new from basspro shop. Upon getting to the range, we realized the magazine sags down when clipped into the gun, and because of that the bullets jam on EVERY shot. Do not buy any Savage branded guns as they are very poorly made.

1 year agoBought this rifle from cabelas after selling my GSG 16. Got this on sale for 200$ off it is definitely worth it. Bought 3 magazines with it (butler creek) 25 round magazines which are expensive but work well. Ran 200 rounds through this now and It has been fairly reliable depending on what ammo you run though it. Compared to the GSG 16 this is of way better build quality. Everyone that has held this or shot it has said that it feels really nice and not like a 22lr. Butler Creek 25 round magazines are of much better build quality than the GSG 16 magazines which were separating at the seams after being loaded a few times. Also compare to the GSG 16 the accuracy is miles better. Pros: Feels very high quality MDT chassis alone is 600$ or more Accurate even with bulk ammo (under 2 MOA at 100 yards) Feeds most bulk ammo reliably Butler Creek 25 round magazines are well built Well balanced (but heavy) Cons: Cost of Butler creek magazines Heavy (not going to be lugging this around the bush) Did have issues with full mag of Winchester Wildcat not extracting X2 and X1 double feed. Gun also does not like Norma Tac 22lr but that couldnt even run in a ruger Wrangler 22lr (ammo is terrible and wax coated nose) Accuracy testing was done at 50 yards on rainy, foggy day with a Bushnell Diamondback Tactical FFP 6-24x50mm. Gun is capable of under 1.5MOA at 100 yards if the shooter is doing their part. On this day I was rushing through some groups as I had been at the range for 4 plus hours. I am still fairly happy with the groups this rifle produced as it was very inexpensive. Ammo Tested is listed in text underneath the group size.

1 year agoThis is heavy full metal reliable rifle. Shoot 150 cci minimag rounds and no one missfire or missfeed. After 50 rounds started making a good groups. No regrets

1 year agoThis gun is an awesome little plinker! You will need to find the correct ammo as cheap .22LR will cause feed issues and jams. Also toss the 10 round rotary mag and find some better styled ones such as: https://www.cabelas.ca/product/106131/butler-creek-savage-a-series-magazine After you figure these 2 issues out it is an awesome accurate .22!

1 year agoPut less than a 100 rounds thru the A22 Precision and the bolt handle breaks. It is made of plastic with thin neck that inserts into the bolt. This was normal use and should not have happened. Seems like savage skimped on this piece and it will bite them because of it.
