The Palmetto State Armory KS-47 G2 is based on the AR-15 and combines the modular construction, accuracy, and precision of the AR platform with the stopping power and the magazine options of the AK. The KS-47 G2 lets the AK shooter capitalize on their inventory of AK magazines and AK ammo with an AR-style platform. Unlike the AK, where the barrel is permanently pressed into the receiver, the KS-47 G2 features an AR-style modular configuration which consists of a barreled upper receiver, and a lower receiver that houses the fire control group and magazine. The modular configuration allows customers to have several different barrel configurations with one lower receiver, just by releasing two pins.

Lower: The 7075-T6 forged lower receiver is hard coat anodized, and accepts standard AR-15 fire control groups. The extended magazine release is outside of the trigger guard for safety, which allows for an AK-style release movement but also features oversize side paddles for fingertip release by the trigger finger. The KS-47 G2 receiver also accepts standard AR buffer tubes. The KS-47 G2 lower has steel reinforcements to accept AK style surplus magazines including drum-style. This Gen2 design features a PA-10 carbine buffer spring and heavy H1 buffer to ensure reliable operation with a wide variety of aftermarket and surplus magazines. Through extensive testing, we have determined that we can only guarantee the reliability of the KS47 G2 platform with the PA10 carbine buffer spring and heavy H1 buffer. The KS-47 G2 Lower will accept most aftermarket fire control groups (Geissele, etc.). However, due to the magazine catch geometry, one-piece drop-in triggers such as CMC style triggers will not function in KS-47 G2.

Upper: The KS-47 G2 upper receiver is precision machined out of forged 7075 T6 aluminum, and then hard coat anodized for durability. While retaining the look of a standard M4 upper, the KS-47 G2 upper is designed to work with the new Gen2 KS-47 lower. The upper features integrated over-insertion tabs to prevent the bolt from dragging on the magazine. This CMV 4150 barrel is chambered in 7.62×39 with a 1 in 10 twist and has a single, large feed ramp to accommodate the larger case diameter of the 7.62×39 round. The barrel is nitride treated for accuracy and durability and is finished off with a 5/8-24 thread A2-style compensator. The forward assist, dust cover, charging handle, and safety are all standard AR-15. This KS-47 G2 upper is finished off with a PSA 13.5″ Lightweight M-Lok Free Float Rail. The KS-47 G2 upper will not work with a standard AR-15 lower.

BCG: The new TC-E KS-47 Bolt carrier group features a new and improved Toolcraft enhanced extractor for durability. Featuring an extended firing pin and designed to work with AK-47 magazines, the carrier is made of nitride-treated 8620 steel, and the gas key is attached with grade 8 bolts and properly staked. The bolt has been redesigned to function properly with most AK-47 magazines. The bolt is mag phosphate coated Carpenter 158 steel.

Magazine: The KS-47 G2 comes with one Magpul 30 round AK-47 magazine (where allowed by law). The new Gen2 KS-47 has been tested and is guaranteed to work with the following AK-47 magazines:

  • Magpul AK-47 Pmag
  • Romanian Stick Magazine
  • Romanian Drum Magazine
  • Chinese Drum Magazine
  • Chinese Stick Magazine
  • Korean Drum Magazine
  • Korean Stick Magazine
  • Yugoslavian Stick Magazine
  • Bulgarian Stick Magazine
  • Circle10 Stick Magazine
  • Hungarian Stick Magazine
  • Russian Stick Magazine

** Due to the unique geometry required for the KS-47 G2 BCG to function, ALL other magazines will not be guaranteed to work. If you are using a magazine not listed above, no warranty claims will be accepted for magazine functioning issues.

KS-47 Gen1 & Gen2 Compatibility:

The KS-47 G2 uppers and lowers will function with the KS-47 G1 uppers and lowers. However, if any KS-47 G1 parts are used, all of the improvements of the KS-47 G2 may not be optimized. We recommend using Magpul AK-47 Magazines on any KS-47 that is a combination of Gen 1 and Gen 2 parts.

I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet just fyi. Just some comments about the rifle before I do take it out though. The hand guard is slim and hugs the barrel of the barrel a bit too close for a generic QD to mount properly. The QD on the sling bumps into the barrel before the ball detents can release. The mag well was really tight, to the point that I had to use additional force to insert and rock the mags in. I've tried Magpul gen 3, a pair of random steel mags, and a Magpul PMAG

The weapon feels good in my arms, but I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. I did buy your optics and have mounted them. I'll let you know how they work.

Trying to use this rifle at first was frustrating, and I hope I may save some people frustration in reading this review before using the rifle. The secret is that when you insert the magazine, you must actually pull the magazine latch back against the trigger guard for it to lock in securely. Without doing that, even when it felt secure, it was not. Once I learned that, the rifle worked great. My first two trips (long drives) to the rifle range with the gun were frustrating.

This gun was initially frustrating to me getting to function, so I’m hoping to save other people some frustration because if they read this review they won’t have an issue. The executive summary is thatyou need to actually press the magazine latch against the trigger guard to lock in a magazine and for it to function. It wasn’t until two unsuccessful trips to the range that I figured this out. My first trip to the range I started with the Magpul AKM magazine that came with it,

Accurate rifle upper to lower fit better than average trigger pull lighter than most store bought rifles and creep is minimal forearm needed twisted a tad bit to line up with rail only issue was after 250 rounds the forward mag pin fell out simple fix but could be addressed by PSA I wish the trigger guard was a little larger to accommodate gloves over 500 rounds downrange now with no issues well balanced rifle assembled with quality parts

This rifle had been out for a year I think before I heard of it. I don't shoot my AK-47'S that much anymore as I've been mostly training with my various AR's and a AR that can take AK mags was what sold me on this rifle. I can shoot 7.62x39 with AR accuracy and everything but the mag and mad release is the same. I put a Primary Arms PA30MMD optic on it. and didn't even have to adjust it. So far this rifle has ran flawless with no problems what's so ever. Great product from PSA

This is a Gen 2 rifle and it appears they fixed the problems of the Gen 1. I havent gotten to shoot it yet, so I'll talk about the build. First thing I noticed was the mating of the upper and lower receiver is as tight as any top end AR I've ever seen. No gaps. Break down pins are tight but not to tight it requires something to force them out. The mags snap in tight with no play in them. The trigger is the best milspec trigger I've had the pleasure of pulling. The trigger feels like its

Been saving for a while, and could not be more pleased. She loves the 30 round PMAG’s and even like the shown 5 round chinese mag. I know, it was the only 5 round choice right now for the deer season, and they are steel. Regardless, flawless 200+ surplus rounds down range and cycling like a race gun. Thank you Palmetto for making this available for regular folks. God Bless!!

Shipping was very fast. And the firearm? Works flawlessly. One of the best purchases I have made in some time.

Had a Ruger Mini 30 as an alternative to the AKs I have. It weighed a ton. I sold it and ran across this platform. I am NOT an AR guy. Never liked the M4s we used when deployed, but thought I'd take a shot on this one. Not sure I'd end up keeping it, I put a Firefield Rapidstrike scope I had lying around. Took it to the range and put about 300 rounds through it at varying distances with pretty good results. More importantly, I enjoyed shooting it. Things I like: it uses AK mags, it's light, I

Short and sweet: Absolutely AMAZING rifle for the price. Solid platform with no issues. Reliable, durable, and enjoyable so far. Spent the last month running close to 4,500 rounds, both brass and steel case, with no issues. Only one jam but that was user error. Cleaned it every thousand rounds with no performance issues. Although not intended for such, much better than standard AKs I've shot for longer distances. Accuracy is good to great depending on ammo, but I'd lean great more often

I had a hard time deciding between this and a standard AK47. I decided on the KS47 and I couldn't be happier with it. It runs flawlessly and is extremely accurate with regular iron sites. The only slight drawback would be that it doesn't hold the bolt open on the last round so doing quick mag changes and then closing the bolt by pressing the button like a standard AR isn't possible. This is a small inconvenience for me the more I fire the gun and get used to it not staying open. Long story

This thing is fun to shoot and easy to break in. I went to the range the day I picked it up, plopped a red dot on it and was hitting steel at 150 in my first three shots. I did have a few issues during break-in but it runs fine now.

Very nice I wanted a accurate 7.62 x 39 rifle and this fits the bill it accurate and reliable it has the reliably of an ak with all most the accuracy of an ar the only down to it is the trigger is not great it definitely mil spec a good trigger helps with accuracy the other down is PSA is a little slow on shipping not terrible but a little slower than most

Great rifle. Was worried about reliability considering it's an AR-47 type of rifle, but it is certainly built well and runs well. Granted, decent grain of salt as I've only put a few hundred rounds down range. Only downside is that I couldn't mount a small picatinny rail behind the gas block, the barrel was too thick, so i ended up marking it up a bit, as seen in the photos.

5/8" for three rounds of Belom 123 gr at 150 yards on several occasions with cheap 5x scope!!! It now deserves a Leupold and handloads! Say no more!

Excellent rifle. Kicks a bit hard but super fun and accurate. Was shooting @150 yards with red army steel ammo. Most of them were rapid fire.

Great gun only downside is that after 2 mags the barrel is uncomfortably warm and 3 mags you can’t really hold your going to want some sort of grip
