Another pistol getting a facelift for 2020, the Specialist features a new style light rail frame (as seen on the Kodiak) as well as forward cocking serrations and Dan Wesson inset slide serrations that reduce glare between the sights. The stainless steel slide has a 1913-style rail integrated into it for installation of lights and lasers, while the undercut trigger guard and 25 LPI frontstrap checkering help plant the pistol. Controls are prominent, with an ambidextrous thumb safety, extended magazine release and a magwell to facilitate quick reloads. Finished off with a set of G-10 grips that guide the hand up and into the extended beavertail, the Specialist is topped with a set of tritium sights front and rear, the back sight configured in a stacked dot style.

2 years agoThe fit and finish oF this gun is spectacuLar. Even under magnification, i could not find ANY MACHINING flAWs. Slide is tight and trigger pull is crisp. Quite the surprise when compared to my colts. Elegant 1913 rail . This forged stainless model is for those who appreciate the 1911, and enjoy the beneFits That a semi custom build brIngs to the design. Yes, its a 100 year Old design, and some features may have been surpassed by modern Guns. But if you want to put a man sized … Read More

2 years agoI purchased this gun as reviews showed it was very reliable. I put approximately 450 rounds of different ammunition through it and it would fail to return to battery at least 2 times a mag. It did function reliably using lead rounds, which leaves me to believe the burs on the feed ramp may be hanging up on jacketed rounds. Guess we will see what c...Read More Read more about review stating Unreliable

2 years agoI read the previous review saying the firearm's failure to go back in to battery on every magazine shot. A new 1911 may have this issue ( ammo related, and it doesn't say what caliber ), but I do not think "burs" on the feed ramp is the cause. Doesn't say what type of ammo. Dan Wesson will check it and might find something wrong. I own 3 Dan Wesso...Read More Read more about review stating Dan Wesson 1911

2 years agoI previously posted my displeasure with my new Specialist. Sent it back and customer service was great. Polished feed ramp, tuned extractor, and noted I wasn’t using enough lube. Thought that was ridiculous when I got it back extremely lubed. Fired 80 rounds S&B with no failures. Cleaned it, lubed the heck out of it, shot 50 more and even trie...Read More Read more about review stating DW Specialist 10mm

2 years agoI made a review on the Dan Wesson Specialist in 9mm. The pistol had issues going to battery, FTI, FTF and other issues. I knew there could be a "break in period", but since I didn't have any with 2 other Dan Wesson pistols (TCP and Vigil), I thought there was something wrong after about 200 rounds. I emailed Guns.com and left an email message aski...Read More Read more about review stating My Bad!

2 years agoThis is an awesome gun and for a .45 it's super smooth! Not to mention it's a snazzy piece adding some range flair to your shooting as well! Great gun!
