1 year agoI absolutely love my Remington 783 in .308. She is my go to rifle during deer season for several years now. Tough, reliable, and accurate. I feel a certain confidence in the field with this weapon that I just haven't felt with other rifles in the same class, and even a few "nice" guns. The mag snaps home nicely, and is easily removed and reloaded with gloved fingers. Steel thumb safety lever location is intuitive, and again, confidence inspiring. That click will quiet down with age. The stock is going to be everyone's complaint on this rifle. I'll be honest it's flimsy, the built in sling mounts are silly, but it doesn't affect my hunt one bit. Do a little resarch on some cheap diy fixes for that stuff. Budget friendly, confidence inspiring, intuitive, and tough. Like a tool with a purpose should be.

1 year agoShot plenty of deer hogs with this gun. Accurate rifle for the price. Would definitely recommend this rifle.

1 year agoI purchased the Rem. 783 in 308 win from Cabela's a few years ago for $299.00 on sale. I put a Boyd's stock on it, and it went from a cheap looking rifle to a better-looking rifle. It shoots okay but not a tack driver by any means. Now I am looking at this new production now that Remington are coming back to the stores. The new production does not seem to have a changed a thing. I would buy the rifle again if it was between $300-$400, but I can say it isn't worth the $700 plus that they are currently wanting for it. It has no improvements, nor does it make Remington's comeback look good, because quality for your dollar was one of the problems that sent the company into receivership.
