2 years agoThis is the first 1911 owned, had it for 6 months now but have not shot it as much as I'd like. I've put 500 rounds through it so far and only issue is the rear sight. The sight started coming loose and would not stay seated. As a quick fix I used high heat silicone gasket maker, same stuff I used for my truck's transmission pan. Since then I have only run 50 rounds through the gun but it stayed in position. I have only tried 3 types of cheap range ammo and all but Academy's Monarch … Read More

2 years agoI purchased this 1911 about 3 years ago. aside from the ria mags being garbage, im very happy with this firearm! I just had it at the range over the weekend again and my buddies love shooting it too

2 years agoI LOVE this gun. So far it has been near flawless. I had 1 failure to feed with some cheap JHP in the 1 st magazine. Since then, over 200 rounds without an issue. The wood grips it shipped with were very nice but i opted tO change them for some G-10s. This is the most accurate handgun i ever shot. Hitting a 36” x 24” steel plate from 100 yards (using a sandbag) repeatedly. Unbelievable gun for the price.

2 years agoLove this gun smooth shooting solid 1911 but dont really like the factory magazine if you are going to purchase one i would recommend buying a separate magazine right away other than that great purchase

2 years agoVery ACurate and no problems with first 100 rounds. Glad it came with black rubber grips to change with wood for slimmer look and better hand hold.

2 years agoJust picked it up and have been practicing with snap caps. Amazing! Feels great, the trigger is crisp. A M1911 John Moses Browning would be proud of, Keep up the amazing work Arms Corp.

2 years agoI love this gun from Rock Island Armory. It is a fantastic example of a 1911 for a good price. The build quality is great, shoots accurately, and presents a great value. Mine came with wood and rubber grips which was a nice surprise. I would recommend this gun in .45 acp to anyone who needs a good home defense weapon or their first 1911. I am defi...Read More Read more about review stating Great 1911!

2 years agoOut of the box it was cleaned up with solvent and a light oiling. It had oil covering it pretty thick. I took it to the range and it would feed ammo thru it till the last round, then it wouldn't stay open. After a couple dozen rounds it would remain open waiting for its next full clip. I imagine the gun needs to be broke in. After the first and se...Read More Read more about review stating Rock Island Armory 1911 FS 9MM

2 years agoeverything went well in ordering and receiving. I have fired a box of 50 through gun with no hangs up and using mags I had from 25 years ago

2 years agoCame with wood and black hardware. Notchy at first. Disassembled, ran scotch brite over hidden slide areas, lubed and with fmj, ran through its first 50rds flawlessly.

2 years agoFeels real smooth and for that price what more can you ask. Just get some Wilson Combat 47D mags to go along with it.

2 years agoThis Rock Island Tactical 1911 is a nice pistol without the high price. The trigger pull is nice and helps with my making good hits. The best compliment I can give this handgun is that it is my every day care piece, I am not large but I am 6’1” and 215 lbs. My major complaint is the black on black sights. I am almost sixty two and my eyes need help. The sights are dovetails and replaceable but I used a red sight marker and colored the front sight.

2 years agoI have a modern 45 already, but missed the 1911 I used to carry from my Navy days on a submarine. So, I bought one of these because I didn't want to spend a lot of money on another 45. I've read some good reviews on this and decided to go for it. I am not at all disappointed. It feels great in my hands, especially after trading out the wood grips for the rubber ones that come in the box too. It eats up all the FMJ ammo I feed it. I have had a bit of an issue with it when I try to run JHP's.

2 years agoPretty good 1911 for the (sale) price. It’s no show dog, but a good reliable handgun. It has some trouble feeding large cavity JHP, but I’ve found that the problem is mainly the factory supplied magazine. It doesn’t provide enough lift to clear the chamber mouth. Since the barrel has no built in feed ramp, messing with it is not advisable beyond a swipe or two with some 600-1000 grit paper. But it’s generally pretty smooth already. Try a different magazine. Standard old GI 7 rd mags work

2 years agoGood price and decent shooting. I hate the Parkerized finish. It shows all finger prints and always has oil looking spots all over it even after it is wiped down

2 years agoNo frills 1911 with decent sights. Glad I bought it on sale for 365.00 plus transfer fee. Shoots good and has a better trigger than my 9mm Rock Island.

1 year agoI have a LOT of 1911s. Semi, Customs, FULL House Customs and some old war dogs. This is the best 'value priced' 1911 I have owned. . With a little tweaking it has become one of my favorite range guns in 45. Grab one on sale and you can not go wrong. Solid, reliable and dependable. Over 1500 rounds without a hiccup so far!

1 year agoI gotta say, I've played with some of the pricier 1911's on the market. Kimber, Colt, Springfield, etc. Rock Island makes a damn fine weapon The action is smooth, fit and finish is solid. Heck, even the trigger feels tight, smooth and crisp. It breaks cleanly at a consistent 4.2-4.3 lbs. with very little perceptible creep in the take-up. So far i have about 400 rds. through it, and it seems to eat everything. 230 gr. JHP, and ball ammo, both reman and new from various manufacturers. No FTF's
