Ruger American Hunter 6.5 Creedmoor 20″ Bolt-Action Rifle, Gray – 26983
Prey beware, there is a new hunter in the field. The Ruger American Hunter in 6.5 Creedmoor is a modern development in the pastime as old as man. Taking designs off of competition and sniper rifles, Ruger has developed the next step in hunting evolution. Featuring a Magpul Hunter American short action, the length of pull and comb height can be adjusted to perfectly fit nearly every hunter. A Ruger Marksman Trigger provides a crisp release with a 3-5 lb. adjustable pull weight. The Heart of the American Hunter rifle is the barrel, and Ruger has spared no expense; a heavy-contour (.850″ at the muzzle) barrel features a Ruger Precision Rifle Hybrid Muzzle Brake to effectively reduce recoil while minimizing noise and blast to the sides of the shooter and produce minute of angle accuracy that can make every hunt a success.

1 year agoGreat product at a great price. Online purchase with store pick up was easy. Took about seven days. For it to come in and they sent me a text. Checked it out, filled out the forms and out the door in about thirty minutes. They triple check so best on a weekday.

1 year agoThis rifle is something else. IT looks good, feels good and shoots amazing. The Mag works well. No matter what hand load i throw at it i am sub MOA. comes with length of pull adjustment, but does not come with the different Comb height adjustment. also this is a 1:8 twist 5r rifling not 1:10 like the description states. Solid gun for under 650. The recoil is very minimal. It is a touch heavy, if you plan to carry it around the woods. But it shoots lights out.

1 year agoI had a ruger predator in 6.5 CR it was the model that came with the AI-Style mag, had issues with the mag working, so I bought the magpul Hunter stock. Not only did that fix the mag issues rifle shot better. I thought if only ruger would make a heavy barrel version of this rifle it would be great. Saw this rifle and had to have it. bought it put a vortex crossfire ii 6x24x50 BDC scope on it and took it to the range two days later. rifle shoots everything I had to feed it. Hornady factory loads … Read More

1 year agoThis iS a great RIfle for the price. It can approach sub-moa with the right shooter and ammo. The adjustability of the LOP is nice, I wish they came with cheek riser options that you didn’t have to buy. The muzzle brake is a bit rough too. I am Going to swap for precision armament to see if it perForms any better, i know the finish will not have rough drill holes like the ruger one.

1 year agoGreat gun. Shoots amazing. But with ammo and scope it is way to heavy to carry in the woods. Perfect fir the bench and practice

1 year agoI can't say it's perfect but it's damn close. Ruger had TO service for extraction issues and they just replaced the entire bolt, they would not elaborate ON the root cause, but they did it damn FAST, SO they get points for great customer service. (They owned the mistake) There is almost no kick on this rifle, a real pleasure to take out to long distances and hold your poa. Feels solid, free float barrel is nice. Magpul delivered a fantastic feeling stock, great combo. Would purchase again.

1 year agoShoots very well, but I've only had it "out" of the safe and/or case for literally 2.5 hours and the barrel is completely rusted. None of the other firearms I own, all with more "use' have any rust at all, but this rifle is bad. I need to let Ruger know...hopefully they will replace.

1 year agoI paired this rifle with a Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25 X 56 and this is a tack driver. I'm easily getting 1/2 MOA groups using Hornady Match ammo.

1 year agoI really like this rifle. Feels great at the bench and it shoots great too. I mounted a 4 x12 Vortex in mounts that the crew at Sportsman Warehouse suggested and that was easy to do. Cleaned it up and off to the range. It shot great as you can see from the picture. I tried three different Ammo combinations and the tipped and very pointed bullets worked best through the magazine. There is a warning in the paperwork about magazines and to use the brown follower magazine. It came with one and I

1 year agoLove this rifle! Yes, you have to take the cheek and shoulder pad off to remove/install the bolt, but it's a small thing for a great rifle, I recommend it! Yes, it is 5/8x14 threaded barrel, so it will adapt a suppressor. Which I do plan on getting soon for it.

1 year agoPurchased the 6.5 American Hunter with Magpul stock for my wife to replace a feather weight .243 Winchester. It is a great bargain in my opinion for everything you get, modified fit to length stock, free floated barrel, muzzle brake, picatinny rail, and decent trigger. You don't have to take the cheek riser off to get the bolt out like everyone is saying. Just pull the bolt back, depress the bolt release and rotate the bolt 90 degrees until its upside down then pull pivoting the bolt upwards.

1 year agoNew to long range shooting and this is my 1st rifle. Shoots amazingly very crisp trigger. The finish is sexy and that magpul stock is very comfortable. Now I have a vortex diamondback tactical 6x25:50 scope, cheap bi pods well be buying some magpul ones here shortly. Took to the range with federal premium 140 grain boat tail rounds at 100 yards. Shot low 1st shot adjusted next 15 rounds all center.

1 year agoThis Ruger American Hunter is stable and heavy enough for an LR Rifle (sub-MOA). As for hunting, I think it is good to hunt from a supported position. At 9.2 lbs, plus scope, ammo, and sling, I struggled to hold the rifle on target for longer than 5 to 7 seconds. I would not recommend it for an off-hand situation
