Pre-tensioned striker system features a powerful striker spring for positive ignition without a heavier trigger pull
Barrel cam distributes recoil forces over a longer period of time to reduce felt recoil
Safe, easy takedown with no tools or trigger pull required

1 year agoNicley finished, I like the grip options given a smaller hand (Med glove size), great sights, good finish and nice capacity, trigger feel nothing special but typical for striker fired pistol. Still need to put it to the range to check accuracy.

1 year agoI never have anything bad to say about any Ruger product. More than 1/2 the firearms I have are Ruger, long guns included! The Ruger American does not disappoint. fits well in the hand ( after changing to the grip that fit me), shoots to point of aim. At the range , put 200 rounds of reloaded 230 grain ball ammo thru it, only 1 misfeed! Misfeed was reloaded ammo issue, not the gun! Great 45 for the money, but what else would you expect from Ruger!

1 year agoNice weight, feels great in my hand, handles great, shooting shoots group a little better than my old SR45. Seems to not kick me as hard as my old SR45 either (could just be me )

1 year agoGood service from grab a gun even during the freeze. I orderd this gun around valentines day 2021 and it still got to my FFL in a resonable time. great trigger on this pistol and very accurate. unfortunatley its kinda heavy though and its not small so probably not a good conceal carry. I wish it didn't have a safety but this was the only option at the time. Saftey gets in the way when you chamber a round. Other than that, great trigger and great shooting gun. only 4 stars cause of the sharp saftey When you chamber the round.

1 year agoI love shooting my Ruger American 45. Accurate and easy take down and cleaning. My wife prefers shooting my 45 over her 9mm.

1 year agoI compared Ruger, S&W, and SAR. Feels great and with the additional backstraps, it will fit most hands very comfortably. It is a bigger, heavier gun but that is what I like. I think the recoil is less than my GLock 45 acp. Sights are great. I'm not a marksman but can consistently shoot head-shots at 10 yrds. Only thing I've noticed, and it may be how I hold the gun (I'm right-handed), my left hand hits the magazine release. It seems like the magazine release is "light" to the touch. I do recommend this gun and would take this over any of those mentioned in my review.

1 year agoHave been wanting a larger caliber pistol, and not really wanting a 1911 or a Glock, there hasn't been much to choose from online that wasn't expensive. Stumbled across this particular Ruger, and despite never shooting it, I quickly purchased it. Already having a P89DC that's been extremely reliable for the past 30 years, I figured it wouldn't be a total gamble and I was correct. Sights were dead on, fits my medium sized hand and is great to shoot.

1 year agoThis is a very good, well built firearm. Fired everything I put in it, except some Tulammo would hang up feeding. I wish it could carry more than 10 rounds, though.
