2 years agoAdded a Magpul and did my own trigger job and consistently shooting 1/2 MOA. Shoot black hills 143 ELD the best at 1/3 MOA.

2 years agoI don't shoot much rifle but this is the most accurate rifle I've ever shot in my entire life. I'm shooting 1/2 inch group at 100 yards using Hornady 147 grain match ammo

2 years agoGreat rifle. Very accurate at 100 yards. Looks awesome with a vortex HST on it. Added a muzzle break to it just in case as I was too used to my old 300 win mag savage. Feels like shooting a .223 which my shoulder is thankful for. This is now my new inexpensive hunting rifle.

2 years agoThis is my second ruger American in 6.5 creedmoor. One is set up for suppressed night vision and the other for day hunting. Very accurate rifle in a very accurate caliber. I love my walnut stocked highly blued rifles. But these ruger Americans are inexpensive, accurate and durable.

2 years agoKnocks hogs on thier ass. Just make sure to use 129grain polymer tips. The 141 grain match will basically just Go thRough them without any expansion And the piG will run and bleed out a 100 yards away or more unless its hit in head.

2 years agoput a magpul hunter stock on it and now its super sexy! And it feels like a way better quality gun too.

2 years agoThe barrel was terrible! Wasn’t even close to finished. How it made it out of the factory is beyond me. Never should have taken it out of the store. Sent it back to Ruger. They said they sandblasted it and test fired it with 20 rounds. What they didn’t mention was the epoxy the put in the now non-adjustable trigger. I’ve tried three different powders with two different bullets and can’t find a combination that’ll shoot under 1 1/2 inches @ 100. I should have learned my lesson with the LC9.

2 years agoGreat rifle out of the box. Added a Gamma 6.5 break and topped it with a vortex 6x26x50 scope. It zeroed at 200yrds with a 3/4” group. Shooting Hornady 120gr bullets. Perfect deer/target package for my son. Only draw back, the matte barrel as with all the others I have. Surface rust every time you take them out.

2 years agoBought this rifle as a new hunting rifle. My first 6.5 Creedmore, mounted with a Leupold VX-Freedom scope and added a muzzle brake. Once I got the scope sighted in, the rifle was extremely accurate and the recoil is as light as expected. I highly recommend, overall very satisfied with this purchase. Ruger did a great job with the American rifles, you get a lot of gun for the price.

2 years agoMost accurate long range rifle for me. I do not need to buy another hunting rifle. I am out to 800yds consistently with factory loads.

2 years agoExcellent accuracy so far. Bolt a little stiff, but shoots 3/4 MOA at 100 yards with non-match grade ammo.

2 years agoMounted a Vortex Crossfire II on this and it hits spot on at 100yds with 140gr ammo. Love the gun and the action is smooth and the gun itself is light and easily modifyable.

2 years agoLove this rifle and the 6.5 Creedmoor caliber. It has a very smooth action and feeds well. I don't particularly like the plastic magazines but so far they fit and feed ok. I mounted a Vortex Viper scope on it removing the rail it came with and used Vortex mounts. It has a very good trigger for a stock gun. I felt no need to put an aftermarket trigger in it. It is a tack driver out of the box. At 300+ yds with 140 gr Copper Creek ammo it shoots a 3" group off a Deathgrip tripod. Very happy with this rifle. It is high quality which I expect from Ruger. At this price point it preforms very well.

2 years agoA lot of people buy budget products and then write bad reviews because it doesn't have this , that, or another thing. If you want more spend MORE! Ruger did a great job on this rifle. Great price, good quality.

2 years agoI have invested in several Ruger Americans 243/308/6.5 they all shoot very well. I would recommend this rifle to anyone that is looking for a quality fire arm at an affordable cost. Mount a quality scope on it and you will have a shooter.

2 years agoSweet little gun for shooting. Set 1”-1.5” 4 round spreads straight out of the box at 100 yards. And with a name like Ruger, I intend to hand this down to my grands, in 20 something years.
Richard H
2 years agoAction is smooth when oiled. Trigger is crisp and just… perfect. Very light. Certainly muzzle-heavy because the stock is so light overall but your optic balances it out a bit.
