Anyone considering the Ruger AR should take a good look at the Ruger MPR. The upgrades from the base AR-556 are absolutely well worth the extra bucks if you can afford it. Better trigger and furniture, and the slightly longer barrel makes a noticeable difference in recoil which is nice for a first AR.
Love my MPR. It’s not the best AR, but the value-to-price ratio is really, really high.

I really like shooting this rifle. lite and accurate. the only thing that I didn't like and had to do was to take off the muzzle break. I don't hunt with ear plugs and you definitely need them to shoot with the break on. It doesn't have enough recoil to need one.

This is my first AR. That being said, for the price, I think it is a great little rifle. Yes it is a little loud, but the magpul stock is very nice, and the upgrades over the Ruger AR-556 make it well worth the extra few $$. The trigger is clean and crisp and much better in my opinion than those on my friends' ARs (which cost a lot more than this Ruger). It feels sturdy without being heavy. None of those little rattles I feel in other ARs. A quality rifle at a good price.
I put a Vortex red-dot on it and zeroed it at 50 yards. Very accurate and fun to shoot, even for novice shooters.

As other reviewers have stated, the MPR has some great 'upgraded' features of many of the other entry-mid level AR rifles. I was looking for a well put together 'factory gun' that is both reliable and accurate and the Ruger MPR fits the bill nicely. I had it shipped to my local Cabela's, and upon pick up, noticed the rubber butt pad was missing from the stock. The staff remedied this by taking a Magpul MOE SL stock out of inventory, and removed the butt pad to put on my rifle. I looked the rifle over very carefully, and found no other issues, blemishes or defect, and the rifle came VERY well oiled.

Ruger quality. Well built with great Magpul furniture. I like the upgraded Ruger factory trigger. I really like the 18" barrel.
I topped it with a Leupold AR 1.5-4x20mm scope. I'm getting 1/2 MOA 3 shot groups @ 100 yds with green tipped FMJ's off sand bags. I'm fixing to reload some ballistic tip's. I'm sure the groups can only get better with reloads. I like everything about the gun so far. I've added an ambidextrous safety and a Magpul AFG. I highly recommend it.

Had to send back to Ruger right out of the box because the barrel was warped. Took them about three weeks to fix and return.

I bought this rifle after searching for something that can do it all (hint: multi purpose rifle) and I just got back from the range and this AR delivered. Tight groups, comfortable to shoot, and very light recoil compared our smith and Wesson M and P. The gun fed rounds super well and had no hang ups. It also has an amazing trigger which also helped pull my groups very tight. The M Lok rail provides room for a number of upgrades. If ur looking for a budget rifle that can do literally everything this is the one to buy.

This is a nice looking rifle and is a pleasure to shoot. Because of the muzzle brake it is said to be louder but wearing ear protecters I can't really notice much difference. In four weeks I managed five range trips and have put almost 1000 rounds through it without any serious issues. I had a few failure to feeds where the bolt missed picking up a round. Probably mag related. No jams. Also after about 500 rounds I noticed the stock getting wobbly due to the castle nut backing off. The nut was not staked though suspect that is intentional. The extra two inches of barrel likely adds accuracy though my gun range has a max of 200 yrds so I can tell any difference from my 16" AR. The big issue is that my bolt will not fit back into the carrier after the initial out of the box cleaning. I use a bolt from another older AR and it fits well and the gun runs well with it.

We built a few AR15 since buying this.
Being a factory built rifle in my opinion it is among the best.
I had mine since early 2020.
It shoots well. Very accurate with a nice 5x optic.
I love this rifle. Although we have
some custom built with best of every part one can purchase going for $2000 each. This is a favorite after those.

I bought this rifle a little over a month ago, and I could not be happier with it. There are so many choices out there at this price point. I own 2 Ruger semi auto 9mm pistols, and they have both been rock solid. So after reading the reviews, watching videos of guys putting this rifle through it's paces, and talking to friends of mine who are AR enthusiasts, I decided that this was the rifle for me. I have taken it to the range twice, and have put about 500 rounds through it. I did have a few short cycles with steel cased ammo. But any of the brass cased ammo I have run through it has performed without issues. I have been told that once the rifle is properly broken in, to try some steel cased rounds again. But for now, I am perfectly content with the overall quality and performance of this rifle. For my first AR, I don't believe that I could have made a better choice. I am confident that this rifle will give me many years of service and enjoyment. Compare the features of this rifle to those in the same price range. They really don't even come close to the level of features and quality of hardware for the price. Buy with confidence. You will be glad you did.

Bought this a couple weeks ago; put around 200-250 rounds of 556, zero issues (no fte,ftl etc) - the trigger is lovely around 4.5lbs pull with a clear return. shoots on-target very well.
i am by no means an expert; bought this for plinking targets and fun. This is a fantastic AR build without spending the big $$’s (e.g. DD).
loving it so far.

I did a lot of reading reviews from reliable sources and watched several youtube videos to get a feel for what the rifle actually was. I was satisfied with what I had read and decided to purchase the AR556 MPR and I have to say up front, I was not disappointed. After I disassembled and cleaned the rifle, I took it to the range and put 150 rounds through it to get my optics sighted in and to just get a feel for the rifle. I have to say it was a very fun experience. The action cycled very smoothly, feed and ejection were flawless and the recoil was literally nothing. What stood out while shooting this rifle (besides the beauty of the rifle) was the very nice factory trigger. I have shot several friends AR's and the trigger was generally in the 7 to 8 pound range, but the AR556 MPR trigger is smooth as butter and breaks in the 4.5 pound range. A very nice surprise.
Overall I am very pleased. The rifle shoot very well, it has a very nice fit and finish, great job Ruger!!
