The Ruger AR-556 is a standard gas impingement operated AR15 platform rifle featuring a milled gas block, located at a carbine-length (M4) position for improved balance and handling. Multiple attachment points include a QD socket and bayonet lug, for many sling and accessory mounting options. The AR-556 comes equipped with the Ruger Rapid Deploy folding rear sight which provides windage adjustability, and pairs with the elevation adjustable front sight for a solid, reliable aiming system. The six-position telescoping M4-style buttstock and Mil-Spec buffer tube allow the file to be properly sized for different shooters, or varying levels of outerware or defensive gear. Made from aerospace-grade 7075-T6 aluminum forging, the flattop upper receiver includes a forward assist, dust cover and brass deflector, and is Type III hard coat anodized for maximum durability. The medium contour cold hammer-forged barrel with ultra-precise rifling provides exceptional accuracy, longevity and easy cleaning. The 1:8″ twist rate stabilizes bullets from 35 to 77 grains, and the 5.56 NATO chamber allows the use of both 5.56 NATO and .223 Rem. Ammunition. M4 feed ramps provide improved operational reliability, and the matte black oxide finish reduces glare and provides corrosion resistance. A Ruger® flash suppressor is provided, and the 1/2″-28 threaded barrel allows for standard muzzle accessories to be installed.

• Single-stage trigger provides durable and reliable fire control. The enlarged trigger guard is designed to allow gloved shooting

• Ergonomic pistol grip features an extended trigger reach for more precise trigger control

• Patent pending Barrel Nut and Delta Ring are designed for one person handguard removal and installation. The design accepts most standard carbine length handguards. The barrel nut uses a standard wrench and can be swapped with a Mil-Spec barrel nut if desired

This was my 1st Ruger. I was skeptical at first but the specs speak for themselves. I have run thousands of rounds through this gun and never a misfeed of failure of any type. I have even run cheap magazines with cheap ammo that failed to cycle in my other riffles (not calling them out by brand) with no problems. Poorly matched receivers is a pet ...Read More Read more about review stating Ruger Quality

My husband and I purchased this Rifle a little over a year ago. I wasn’t so sure that I would be proficient when it came to shooting it. We obviously took it to the range the day we brought it home. With just a set of Iron Sights he had in the gun safe on it, I was able to shoot it more accurately than any firearm I have ever had in my hands! It i...Read More Read more about review stating My Favorite Rifle

Just picked it up yesterday. For the money you can't beat it-even the gun store owner said man you got a nice high quality gun there. I would recommend this Ruger if you are looking for a budget friendly AR-15. Guns.com customer service was super friendly and helpful helped me every step of the way. I will be back to buy more down ...Read More Read more about review stating A-1 Quality

The purchase price was competitive and very fair. Shipping was prompt and the gun arrived at my local dealer complete and intact. I have not fired a rifle since 1975, so I was looking forward to the manual. However, the manual was written by someone who knew all about the gun, for another expert - which did not help me. But between YouTu...Read More Read more about review stating An excellent weapon

This is overall a nice rifle. I did have an issue with the pin as well when putting the rifle back together and became frustrated after some time. I was able to get the pin after several attempts, however. I plan to keep the rifle as is, however, I will likely contact my local gun shop or Ruger with regard to the pin issue.

Very versatile weapon. Great accuracy - have now put 500 rounds through it with no issues. I have added a few FDE colored attachments.

Waited a LONG time to buy this rifle. My Army Captain son convinced me to go with the model 8529 because of its floating barrel and customizing options. The rifle and I are still getting acquainted. So far so good. Live on 10 rural acres with LONG shot potential re varmints snd CQB possibilities out in the countryside. The Ruger AR 556 should do d...Read More Read more about review stating Waited a LONG time to

Got compliments on this rifle at the range my first time out with it. Sure I put some nice furniture on it but this girl right next to me was really into it I guess she was liking the way I was shooting. So I let her try it. For a girl to never shoot an AR and get center mass shots at 10 yards with open sights and not complain about kick or anything? That sounds like an easy one for me. The farthest I could shoot was 25 yds indoor range. Let me tell you it took a few clicks on the rear sight to

saw this on sale for $459 with free shipping. I jumped on it. From time of order and when it arrived at my local FFL was less than a week. I have owned this rifle before and you cant beat it for the price. Just one thing when you first get it. Take it completely apart Clean that factory oil off (It was covered with tons of oil) and re oil it how you are suppose to.

I purchased this rifle from a local dealer but I felt it was important to leave a review here on PSA's site. Ive owned my AR556 for 2 1/2 years now. The gun in stock configuration is okay. The front handguard doesn't have heat sheilds in it. Mine melted the first day when I shot 800 rounds through it, lol. The trigger is okay but could be a little better. The A2 gas block also features the bayonet lug with a qd socket for a qd swivel, which is nice but can be a pain if adding after market

This AR is as tight as any I've seen feels great in your hands, runs on anything you put in it, ready to go right out the box, can't say enough about any Ruger and this one is just as good as the rest of not better, the trigger I will say is a little gritty at first it is mil spec still better than the M&P..

I agree with all of the other posted reviews: it's a solid AR. The key point is that PSA is offering it at a significantly lower price than I was able to get it at 3 years ago. (I'd buy it again, but recently moved, so I don't yet have a reliable, designated FFL.) Mechanically: precision action and accuracy - and that's with just the iron sights. It's true that it has no heat shield in the forward grip, so that barrel will start to get a little 'spicy' in your hands after running a magazine through it!

It's a great AR for the price. With tons of mag dumps and thousands of rounds fired, the performance is surprisingly good. The barrel doesn't string much as it's heated until it's very hot, even then the groups tend not to open much. Suppose it's due to the medium profile and the fact it's a chf barrel. The A2 flash hider Ruger uses sucks, it's open on the bottom so shooting prone will kick some debris up. Pros: It's accurate! My rifle prefers the 69 grainers with the best groups

Overall I think this rifle will turn out all right. I would expect a more from Ruger. The entire rifle still had noticeable oil, outside as well as inside, I'm still wiping it off after one trip to the range and two take downs/ cleanings. In addition the furnished back-up sights have not lined up to provide acceptable accuracy after 60 rounds it is still shooting 4" high and 4" right at 50 yards after maximum adjustment. To top everything off, the trigger is clunky . it has excessive creep
