I've owned mine for less than a year but boy is it fun to shoot and much more accurate than I'd been led to believe. The accuracy problems with this gun when it was first developed were resolved long ago, actually wonder if they weren't exagerated even then. I shot one owned by a friend of mine while resting between morning and afternoon deer hunts last January and knew I had to have one. Actually i've never coyote hunted at all but plan to this year when deer season ends and know this rifle will be a lot better at it than me.

This rifle was given to me by my family when I graduated high school several years ago. Since then I have joined the Army, and this rifle travels everywhere I go, except for deployments, which I really wish I could bring it with. The action of the rifle is silky smooth. I have lots of headshots on small game, such as foxes, coyotes, what have you out to 100+ yards. The only thing about this rifle, it's a little on the loud side, so I would recommend ear protection.
Good stank to everyone!

The rifle is very good in construction. The only problem I have is the selection of ammo required to keep it running effectively. It does not like steel cased, lacquered, or nickel ammo. It needs pure brass cases or stoppages will occur. So, don't be cheap with the ammo. The high capacity magazines give you ample opportunity to cut down multiple popper targets. The Ruger mags are expensive and good but the after market ones do just as well. Keep everything well lubed and you'll have plenty of good shooting with this rifle. If you ever wanted one, get it now. I got this at $525.00 5 years ago. I was disappointed because it went up $75. Now it's at $726 and at some places $926. Get it now before it's too much for a bargain.

Very nice gun. It is well designed and works well in extreme cold weather. Unlike other auto loaders this one didn't freeze up in -10 degree + weather. Good shooting and tight groups at 200 yards.

I have wanted a Mini-14 for the longest time and just recently purchased the Ranch from BP. I only wish I had bought it sooner. Great for coyote and hog hunting. A blast to take to the range and shoot. I have put many, many rounds through this gun and have had ' 0 ' problems.

This rifle is just plain fun to shoot. It's a well built and solid feeling. I run bulk federal ammo through it and have had zero mis-feeds or any other problems in 1000+ rounds. It is more accurate than others give it credit for at 100 yards and more - although not a tack driver. Recoil is minimal and quick follow up shots are easy to keep on target. It does throw brass a long distance so warn people to your right.
I enjoy shooting it so much that I also purchased the target version from Bass Pro.
Definitely one to have in your collection.

I have wanted one of these rifles for decades and finally bought one. I went with the wooden stock for authenticity and it is absolutely flawless. This has to be one of the most fun rifles to fire out there. It performs beautifully and you can feel the quality in the rifle both when handling it and firing it. Sorry I didn't buy it earlier! There's a reason these are so popular. You will never let this rifle go once it's in your hands.

I have been using the Mini 30 since the first year it was produced. Over the years I have killed in excess of 25 deer with this gun and never had a jam or misfire ever. It is not a bench rest gun. It is a 150 yard or less hunting rifle. Using the Hornady SST rounds and a 3-9 power scope I've found it to be a deadly combination for deer. My wife killed her first deer with it as did my son. As a result I have purchased a Mini 14 for the wife and she loves the rifle and has taken deer the last two years with it. For deer hunting in the Ontario woods these light fast handling rifles are an excellent choice.

I have had my Mini 14 Ranch Rifle for several years now and have shot all sorts of ammo with no issues; brass, steel, alloy, etc. I have never had any issues with any type of casing or jams and I always buy the cheapest ammo I can find. The recoil is minimal allowing the shooter to remain on target for fast, accurate shooting. Breakdown and cleaning is a breeze. This rifle design is second to none.

I shot a lot of 5.56 rifles and this one is the best. Much more accurate and reliable than the 5.56 rifles build on the M-16 design. Never had a jam with this rifle at all. Aftermarket mags that hold up to 40 rounds are available and function well in the rifle. If you don't have one buy one.

I've had my since 1985 and have fired 20.000 plus rounds through it an besides cleaning regularly and upgrading the scope I have never ever had any trouble what so ever with this Ruger 7.62x39 mm and I mean I fire 1500 rounds every call and will be buying the Ruger Precision Rifle next in the 6.5x284 Norma and the Ruger mini14 in ,223

I have had my eye on this gun for some time and recently decided to purchase one. I wanted to use it for awhile and really see how it performs before doing a review. I must say it has exceeded my expectations as far as how well it's made and how reliable a firearm it has been so far. And as far as how fun it is to shoot its right up there with my Model 94 lever action 30.30 on the fun meter. If you have been considering buying one and have been on the fence just go for it like I did and hopefully you are as happy with yours as I am with mine. A must have for everyone's gun collection.

I bought this gun about 3 weeks ago.Shoots great , cycles flawlessly and is fun to shoot. Wood stock looks and feels great with next to no recoil. BUT .... the rear sight keeps coming loose after every 5 rounds so hard to get sighted in. Will take out to range and attempt to zero and add blue lock tight to set screws.

The woodwork is mediocre, upon unboxing I noticed the rear sights were overtorqued 15 degrees off center and I had to sacrifice a torx bit to get it off due to the loctite they put on it. The magazine receiver was also bent. The first thing I did was put the picatinny rail on that came with the gun, which was my first mistake. In total I've put probably 250 rounds DR and the rail has come loose 3 times. The last time I had applied a liberal amount of the loctite that was provided and it still didn't hold. After putting on the scope rings provided I've noticed an immediate improvement, but after how the rail held on for quite some time I'm wary of them flying off at some point.

I have owned this gun two years and have enjoyed it every time I've taken it out. Accuracy is good, 2" groups at 100 yards with open sights. I like the feel of this rifle better than the AR-15. With a couple of thousand rounds through it I have experienced no feeding or firing failures. I have run bulk ammo through it, always brass, so I don't know how it performs with steel cased ammo. I have fired both 223 and 5.56 cartridges with equal results. Bottom line, this rifle is one of my favorites.

It is accurate. Im well pleased with it. After hearing they are not very accurate. It exceded my expectations. The pic is a 10 shot group at 100 yards. Purchased at the Hamburg PA Cabela's.

I bought my first Mini-14 in 1978. I put a 6X Redfield wide-angIe scope on it and killed many whitetails, coyotes and even mule deer with it. I shot thousands of rounds through that rifle with never a misfeed. Fast forward three decades and I bought a second Mini-14 and through the grace of God and E-Bay found another 6X wide-angled Redfield scope for it. In all honesty, if you go to the range and run 50 rounds through it the barrel get plenty hot and the groupings scatter a bit, but for a cold-bore shot, and hunting is almost always a cold-bore shot, it's as accurate at 200-300 yards as anything out there.

I’ve wanted a Ruger Mini 14 for a while but they’re hard to find so when I got an email from Cabelas telling me they were in stock I ordered immediately. These are rugged and reliable and the newer Mini 14s are more accurate than the older models thanks to a heavier barrel. They come standard with two five round magazines so I ordered two ten round and two 20 round magazines to use at the range. I got the blued metal with a wood stock, more socially acceptable and I like the more traditional looks. Ergonomics on the Mini 14 are okay and easy to get used to, but I don’t think they are as intuitive as the AR platform. That said, after a few shots, everything on the rifle seems natural. Accuracy is good, three inch patterns at 100 yards. I’ve had two AR-15s and I still like this rifle better.
